Maddow Defends Women's Rights on Meet The Press, Calls Out GOP Panelist for Being "Condescending"
On Sunday, "Meet the Press" had a special panel to discuss the war on women's rights, which is usually centered on the right-wing efforts to take away our access to health care, among other things (abortion). The least morally contentious issue, though, is the matter of equal pay—or at least one would think so. When panelist Rachel Maddow brought up pay disparities based on gender, her copanelist, GOP strategist Alex Castellanos, tried the tired tactic of revisionist history, disputing that no disparity in pay exists and saying that's because we "work less" than men because "women want more flexibility." Infuriating. Then he said something even more condescending: "I love how passionate you are. I wish you were as right about what you’re saying as you are passionate about it. I really do.”
Maddow, being the boss that she is, called him out. Watch it over at Mediaite, if you can handle it without making your skin crawl and/or punching someone.
