Obama Stumps with Bill Clinton, Releases New Slogan, "Forward."
President Obama has released a new campaign ad entitled "Forward." (yes, with the period), which aims to highlight his accomplishments and also strike out with a new slogan that builds on his "Change" concept while evolving it. The ad's main feature a timeline that starts from the late-2008 financial dip and begins slowly rising up after his inauguration, it's a quite effective concept. Visually striking, plain-spoken and concise, it also does a pretty effective job of communicating that the economic situation was inherited, not caused, by the President. The narrator's first line: "On the day Barack Obama took office, America had already lost 4.4 million jobs." Point taken! His economic policies are especially touted, along with his efforts with health care, energy development, tax cuts, DADT, etc., in an uplifting sequence that then rightfully targets the right wing Republican party for trying to halt his progress. All in all, it's a super savvy move on the part of his campaign, which is now in full swing. Huffington Post on the Bill Clinton-Obama power-duo that was campaigning over the weekend:
“He's got an opponent who basically wants to do what they did before, on steroids, which will get you the same consequences you got before, on steroids," former President Clinton said at a joint fundraiser with Obama in Virginia on Sunday.
Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs also hammered the point on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday.
“I think sometimes you listen to the Romney campaign, and they do think a lot of people in this country are stupid. … Their message is, 'You didn't clean up our mess fast enough,' " Gibbs said. “As I said, we've had 11 consecutive months of positive economic growth, 25 consecutive months of positive private-sector job growth.”
