AlterNet Radio: Dems Satirize Crazy GOP Sex Laws; Zero African Americans Running Statewide in '12; ACLU Tries To Rein in Oakland Cops
We have a great show this week on the AlterNet Radio Hour!
In state houses across the country, Democrats have tried to push back on the Right's assault on women's autonomy with a series of satirical bills designed to highlight the madness of TeaPublicans' anti-family-planning proposals. In the first part of the show, Mother Jones' Hannah Levintovah takes us on a guided tour of the front-lines.
Next up is The American Prospect's Jamelle Bouie explaining why there will be exactly zero African Americans running for state-wide offices this year despite the fact that blacks sit in around 10 percent of the seats in the House. And why black Republicans may actually have clearer paths to state-wide office than black Dems.
Finally, Linda Lye, a staff attorney with the ACLU of Northern California, tells AlterNet's Joshua Holland about legal efforts to protect protesters from the Oakland Police Department.
If you're in Washington, DC, you can tune into the show at 6 pm EST at 1480 AM. If you're anywhere else, you can stream it live at We Act Radio, and if you miss it, check back later for a podcast.
