Mitt Gives Up on Pretending He's Not a Plutocrat and Proud
Even though his own unstoppable stream of out-of-touch, one-percenty comments has been dogging him since day one of his Presidential campaign, Willard Mitt Romeny seems incapable of putting a cork in it.
Sure, he'll sell out his own previously stated views on things like abortion and immigration and universal health care and gay marriage to win that coveted nomination, but goddmanit, he's not gonna give up his integrity when it comes to the fact that...he likes being rich!
He recently acknowledged that yes, these kinds of comments are hurting people's view of him, but he is who he is: a plutocrat and proud.
So what has Mr. Romney been saying, exactly, beyond his oft-repeated adage, "corporations are people, my friend?"
On Friday, Romney said his wife drives "a couple of Cadillacs."
During a visit to Florida's Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, Romney was asked whether he follows racing. "Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans, but I have some friends who are NASCAR team owners," he replied.
He also approached a group of fans wearing plastic ponchos and said, "I like those fancy raincoats you bought. Really sprung for the big bucks."
