Bill Maher: What Is it About Obama That Makes Republicans Go Apeshit to His Face? (Hint: Racism)
On last night's Real Time, Bill Maher talked about the difference between Maher slinging insults at George W. Bush ("President Larry the Cable Guy," "the cowboy from Toy Story," etc.) and Republicans "going apeshit" on Obama (think Jan Brewer sticking her finger in Obama's face on the tarmac recently and Joe Wilson yelling "You lie!" in the president's presence). That difference is: Maher says he would never have said those things to President Bush's face, but for some reason Republicans feel ok doing just that to Obama. Maher calls racism, noting that "Obama's had to be the Jackie Robinson of American politics -- never reacting to the taunts from the stands."
