Bill Maher's Controversial Stance on Video of Troops Urinating on Corpses: Says Outrage Is Overblown

On last night's Real Time, Bill Maher started a conversation about the video that surfaced this week of U.S. Marines apparently urinating on Afghan corpses. Maher said that while he doesn't condone the act, he thought it was a matter of "degree." In Maher's view, the incident just does not compare to "some of the things the United States has done, like torture, Abu Ghraib."

Not everyone on the panel agreed with that sentiment -- Debbie Wasserman Shultz held the firm stance that the incident was "unacceptable" -- but panelist Rob Reiner did agree with Maher, saying, "Nobody condones it, obviously, but war does make people a little crazy. You put young people in a situation like that, they're seeing their friends killed next to them, and they act out. There's no justifying it, but it's expected."
