Stephen Colbert for President? Despite Being Neither a Republican Nor a Candidate, Comedian Is Polling at 5% in SC

As the Republican circus presidential race heads to South Carolina, political pundits are wondering whether Mitt Romney, who came out ahead in Iowa and New Hampshire, will tie up the GOP nomination with a three-in-a-row win. As an anchor on Fox News noted, "No Republican has ever become president without winning South Carolina." It's an important state!

But Romney has himself a little competition -- South Carolina native Stephen Colbert. According to recent data, Colbert is polling at 5% in the state! That's 1% higher than Jon Huntsman. Not bad for someone who is neither a Republican nor a presidential candidate.
