Video: Gingrich Can't Face Young Girl Who Asks if She Should go to Jail for Drugs
Forty years into a disastrous drug war, Newt Gingrich is talking about escalating the war on drugs -- violently -- and spitting it out some historically inaccurate speculation about what the Founding Fathers would do in the process.
“In general, I’d like us to be as drug free as possible and I think that it requires a much more serious approach," said Gingrich at a recent New Hampshire appearance, "I think Jefferson or George Washington would have rather strongly discouraged you from growing marijuana and their techniques with dealing with it would have been rather more violent than our current government." Funny thing is, Gingrich has admitted to smoking pot himself. And the Founding Fathers knew about pot, but didn't have much of a problem with it - at all.
Gingrich, however, has gone so far as to advocate the death penalty for drug trafficking. But put Gingrich face-to-face with a recreational drug user, and he loses a bit of that audacity. Perhaps, the guilt sets in, and he remembers his days of pot smoke and dorm rooms.
Watch this awesome girl (below), from Students for a Sensible Drug Policy, ask Gingrich if she deserves to be in jail for using drugs. His reaction is priceless.
