Jon Stewart on Indefinite Detention: Destroying Our Own Way of Life Before Terrorists Have a Chance to Do it For Us
Last night Jon Stewart took on the recent passage of a bill that would allow the U.S. government to lock up American citizens indefinitely, without a trial. Troubling much? Even worse, Congress openly debated the subject for only an hour, and a mere 7 Congresspeople voted against it.
In his trademark style, Stewart pointed out the insanity of the bill as well as government hypocrisy surrounding it. (Barack Obama, circa 2007: "we are not a country that runs prisons that locks people away without ever telling them why they’re there or what they’re charged with." Oh really?)
