Black Americans Root For Murdoch's Demise
As Shirley Sherrod continues court proceedings to sue Fox darling Andrew Brietbart, even in the face of mounting criticism, ColorofChange leads the charge against the Murdoch empire for Fox News's continued racist approach to reporting just about anything to do with African-Americans.
The Grio reports:
Fox, admittedly, is the most successful cable news network in America. But its journalistic integrity is largely non-existent, with the entire operation geared toward promoting a conservative political agenda and platform. Facts are written and re-written to fit the story that Murdoch, Roger Ailes and their cronies are invested in promoting. Ailes, Fox's president served as a media consultant to Republican presidents Nixon, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush.
Besides the fact that all the Fox News Network presenters and anchors are all white -- hardly a coincidence -- the network often seems to have a decidedly anti-Obama, anti-black agenda. This was perhaps best articulated by former Fox star Glenn Beck, who in response to Obama's remarks on the Henry Louis Gates controversy in 2009, argued that Obama had displayed "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture", saying "I'm not saying he doesn't like white people. I'm saying he has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist."
That Fox engages in racist reporting is hardly news to most progressives. But what is a new and emerging trend is the decisive action taken by those affected by Fox's unapologetic pattern of race-baiting and rash and unprofessional reporting on President Obama, and just about any black person making headlines that day. Murdoch's current troubles further exposes that corruption, bias and ruthlessness in the means of acquiring news and reporting it, is a mainstay throughout his media companies. Black Americans, progressives and anyone who believes in the professionalism of Journalism would do well to continue to pile on their justified retaliation to any part of the Murdoch media empire.
