As summer road trips and plane travel ramps up, groans and complaints about the exorbitant price of gas are likely to be heard from all quarters.

But what if that price we're paying at the pump is actually cheaper than the real price of gasoline, when you factor in the social costs of pollution and health problems?

From Sarah Terry-Cobo and others at the Center for Investigative Reporting comes this new explanatory animated video showing what the "external costs" of our gasoline dependence are. Watch below.
