Maddow: Detroit 'Emergency Manager' Closing School For Girls
The students at Detroit's Catherine Ferguson Academy, a school for pregnant girls and young mothers, have an exceptional graduation and college acceptance rate, but that's not enough for the emergency manager appointed by Republican Gov. Rick Snyder. The emergency manager has unilateral authority to close schools--and apparently that authority has nothing to do with the success of those schools.
G. Asenath Andrews, principal of the school, joined Rachel Maddow last night to talk about her school, her students, and her fears for what will happen to them without the school.
There's more at the Maddow Blog, including links to petitions to save the school.
