Ed Schultz Apologizes, Begins Suspension from MSNBC

Ed Schultz disappointed and disgusted his female followers and non-followers alike when he called conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a 'right-wing slut.' Why do so many ostensibly liberal/progressive men, men who are supposed to be our allies, resort to misogynist language when disparaging those we disagree with? Certainly there are plenty of other arguments to be made against Ingraham without lowering one's self to reductive and sexist comments. Anyway, after a petition asking MSNBC to suspend him for his comments worked (he's out for a week without pay), Schultz apologized on the beginning of last night's show, before handing the reigns over to interim host Thomas Roberts. 'I used vile and inappropriate language,' he said. 'it was wrong, uncalled for, and I recognize the severity of what I said. It doesn't matter what the circumstances were... what I said was terribly vile, and not of the standards of what I or any other person should adhere to.' Indeed. He seemed sincere, so here's to hoping his apology serves as an example to those other progressive men who seem so good on all other points, and yet seem to fail when it comes to women.
