Jon Stewart: "Can [Al Qaeda] Still Do Damage? I'm Sure. But We're Back, Baby"
Wherever you stand on celebrating Osama bin Laden's death -- appropriate, inappropriate, understandable but discomfiting -- Jon Stewart's take on the situation is worth watching. Stewart, who lives just a few blocks from Ground Zero, acknowledged that his feelings about the assassination are complicated, but said he's ultimately glad OBL is dead. "I am way too close to this whole episode to be rational about this," he said. "Last night was a good night -- not just for New York or D.C. -- but for human people."
He also tossed in plenty of jokes, of course. "As Hollywood has taught us, when a black president interrupts your show, a meteor is headed for the earth." Ha. Watch the whole segment below. [Via Mediaite and the Huffington Post]
