Arkansas Supreme Court Strikes Down Gay Adoption Ban
The law prohibiting same-sex couples from adopting children in Arkansas was today struck down by the state Supreme Court. The law, known as Act 1, was passed as a ballot measure in 2008.
The Huffington Post's Amanda Terkel writes, "In an opinion published without dissent, the court argued that the law violated individuals' right to privacy. Supporters of the law are expected to fight the ruling."
Predictably, the right-wing Family Research Council Action Committee decried the court's ruling. Per Terkel: "President Jerry Cox called the decision a 'classic example of judicial tyranny.'"
