Tea Partiers Hosting Lavish, Expensive, Bourgeois Swearing-In Party
Amid all the Tea Party/GOP rhetoric about tightening our belts, they're kicking off the next Congressional session by not putting their money where their mouths are. Instead, they're throwing it around like they're on the set of a rap video, having a ridiculously lavish swearing-in party hosted by a conglomeration of GOP PACs. Leann Rimes, the country star, is headlining. Ticket prices range from $2500 to $50,000. And the event will be held at the W in Washington -- the kind of high-end hotel that symbolizes the elite and wealthy. It's a fundraiser, but obviously they're not interested in partying with the people they purport to represent. At least we know who's getting a Bush Tax Cut!
The participating freshmen, per Politico:
Jeff Denham, R-Calif.
Scott DesJarlais, R-Tenn. (Tea Party)
Robert Dold, R-Ill. (Tea Party)
Renee Ellmers, R-N.C. (Tea Party)
Jeff Landry, R-La. (Tea Party)
Tom Marino, R-Pa.
Tom Reed, R-N.Y.
David Rivera, R-Fla.
Jon Runyan, R-N.J.
Steve Southerland, R-Fla. (Tea Party)
Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind. (Tea Party)
Kevin Yoder. R-Kan.
