Michele Bachmann Drops Leadership Bid After GOP Balks at the Idea

Further evidence of tensions between the Tea Party and the GOP establishment: Minnesota Rep. and Tea Party darling Michele Bachmann has dropped her bid for the House Republican Conference chair after Republicans decided they didn't want one of their most radical members to be in a position of significant power.

Yes, Bachmann's prospects were so bad she didn't even make it to the vote. Now, the founder of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus, has endorsed someone who actually has a snowball's chance of winning -- Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling, who's similarly conservative, but lacks Bachmann's flair for crazytalk.
