Latest Results: Democrats Clinging to Slim Margins in Late-Breaking Senate Races

Three hotly-contested senate races remain undecided, but as the results trickle in there's cause for some comfort and hope for Democrats, as of 9:30 this morning, Eastern time.

  • In Washington, Democratic Senator Patty Murray leads by a small sliver of votes over Republican Dino Rossi with 62% reporting.
  • In Colorado, Democratic Senator Michael Bennet holds on to an even more miniscule lead over opponent Ken Buck with 88% reporting.
  • In Alaska, a flood of write-in ballots for Sen. Lisa Murkowski -- a more moderate Republican compared to Tea Party and Palin favorite Joe Miller -- have her beating Miller by a more comfortable margin than expected. A long process of validation and recount awaits this race thanks to her write-in candidacy.
  • Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania and Alexi Giannoulias of Illinois lost heartbreakingly close Senate races that were decided late in the night.
