Race-Baiting Andrew Breitbart Bringing His Lies to ABC News This Election Night

In addition to the horrifying possibility of wins by Tea Party candidates, there's another reason to be apprehensive about tomorrow night: notorious race-baiter and liar Andrew Breitbart has been confirmed as a guest on ABC News during the network's election night coverage.

Breitbart is perhaps most (in)famous for concocting the Shirley Sherrod controversy out of thin air, selectively editing a video of the former USDA official speaking at a March NAACP event to portray her as a "racist."

After Breitbart's Big Journalism website reported that Breitbart would "be bringing analysis live from Arizona" for ABC, the network backpedaled, noting that Breitbart is not in any way affiliated with ABC News and that he has not been asked to analyze the results of the election. Rather, Breitbart will be "one of many voices on our air, including Bill Adair of Politifact," according to David Ford of ABC News, who added that "if Andrew Breitbart says something that is incorrect, we have other voices to call him on it."

Why all the concern over Breitbart will say something "incorrect"? Because the Sherrod debacle was not the first time Breitbart had lied, smeared innocent individuals and/or grossly distorted facts -- not by a long shot. Media Mattershas a compendium of his falsehoods, which include:

-Coordinating the release of last year's manufactured ACORN scandal

-Providing a platform foranti-gay smears against Department of Education staffer Kevin Jennings

-Promoting a selectively-edited video of James O'Keefe's Census "scandal"

-Baselessly accusing the NEA of lawbreaking

-Reporting that the White House was spreading Maoist propaganda on its Christmas tree

-Purporting that community organizers were "praying" to Obama

As many of Breitbart's detractors have pointed out:

There are plenty of other conservatives who ABC News could turn to for analysis or commentary. By inviting someone like Breitbart to participate, ABC News is not only calling its own credibility into question, it is also serving to rehabilitate the credibility of Andrew Breitbart and legitimate more of his race-baiting lies.
