The following is  an interview with AlterNet's Adele Stan by of Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks, in which they discuss how the potential for political violence is stoked by right-wing rhetoric that demonizes liberals, steeped in the language of tyranny and treason. In this video, the two dissect recent examples drawn from Stan's reporting at a gun owners' rally in Washington, D.C., at which a Republican congressman urged rally-goers to be prepared to take up arms against his congressional colleagues. Both Uygur and Stan* recently wrote AlterNet articles that address the relationship between political rhetoric and violence. (Uygur here, and Stan, here.)

* CORRECTION: Adele Stan misspoke when she said that David Neiwert, reporting for AlterNet, wrote of seeing both Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto sold side by side at a Tea Party/gun-owners' gathering called Celebrating Conservatism in Montana last summer. While Neiwert did not see communist texts sold at the gathering, he did report seeing an iconic progressive text, Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, sold next to Hitler's Mein Kampf.

Cenk Uygur is co-host of The Young Turks, the first liberal radio show to air nationwide.

Adele Stan is AlterNet's Washington Bureau Chief.
