A New Jersey cop driving with his wife and children reportedly shot a man to death after a highway incident in Maryland, CBS Baltimore is reporting.

The man, 40-year-old Joseph Walker, has been charged with murder and manslaughter, and is in jail. He allegedly killed 36-year-old Joseph Harvey. Walker works as a cop for the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, as Raw Story notes.

The Maryland police say that Harvey came into contact with Walker on a highway Saturday night. After pulling over, Harvey began walking towards Walker’s car--and that’s when the shooting apparently took place, despite the fact that Walker’s wife and three children were with him.

“Road rage is something that you don’t want to get into because nothing comes of it. It’s just really hard to believe about Joe,” said one of Walker’s neighbors.

Walker is being held on $1 million bail.
