A 12-year-old boy from a Pennsylvania town is now dead weeks after being attacked and beaten at his school. The local NBC reports that the boy, Bailey O’Neill, died because of “a medically-induced coma after suffering several seizures.”

O’Neill turned 12 the day before he died. He suffered a concussion and broken nose from his attackers. His family says that he was bullied before being attacked.

Flags at his school in Glenolden, Pennsylvania flew at half-staff yesterday in O’Neill’s honor.

The Associated Pressreports that the county district attorney is currently investigating to determine whether his attackers will be charged. The fight, which occurred on January 10, reportedly was a “one-on-one” altercation that was caught on tape, though NBC reports that O’Neill was “jumped” by two people.

The students who beat O’Neill were suspended for two days. “I would like to see these kids punished,” said the boy’s grandmother, Joy Fecanin. “Something has to be done. I don’t know what’s taking them so long.”
