Most Outrageous Right Wing Comments of 2006

Media Matters for America. Posted December 28, 2006.

The offensive, the senseless, the bigoted, the inaccurate: a year in right-wing nuttery.

How extreme were conservative commentators in their remarks this year? How about calls to nuke the Middle East and an allegation that a "gay … mafia" used the congressional page program as its own "personal preserve." Right-wing rhetoric documented by Media Matters for America included the nonsensical (including Rush Limbaugh's claim that America's "obesity crisis" is caused by, among other things, our failure to "teach [the poor] how to butcher a -- slaughter a cow to get the butter, we gave them the butter"), the offensive (such as right-wing pundit Debbie Schlussel's question about "Barack Hussein Obama": Is he "a man we want as president when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be?"), and the simply bizarre (such as William A. Donohue's claim that some Hollywood stars would "sodomize their own mother in a movie"). Since there were so many outrageous statements, we included a list of honorable mentions along with the top 11, which, if not for Ann Coulter, we might have limited to 10.

The top 11 (in chronological order):

William A. Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights: "Well, look, there are people in Hollywood, not all of them, but there are some people who are nothing more than harlots. They will do anything for the buck. They wouldn't care. If you asked them to sodomize their own mother in a movie, they would do so, and they would do it with a smile on their face." [2/9/06]

Fox News host John Gibson: "Do your duty. Make more babies. That's a lesson drawn out of two interesting stories over the last couple of days. First, a story yesterday that half of the kids in this country under five years old are minorities. By far, the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic. Why is that? Well, Hispanics are having more kids than others. Notably, the ones Hispanics call 'gabachos' -- white people -- are having fewer." [5/11/06]

Right-wing pundit Ann Coulter on the New York Times' decision to report on the Bush administration's warrantless domestic wiretapping program and a Treasury Department financial transaction tracking program: The Times had done "something that could have gotten them executed, certainly did get the Rosenbergs (Julius and Ethel) executed." [7/12/06]

Coulter responding to Hardball host Chris Matthews' question, "How do you know that [former President] Bill Clinton's gay?": "I don't know if he's gay. But [former Vice President] Al Gore -- total fag." [7/27/06]

Nationally syndicated radio host Michael Savage: "That's why the department store dummy named Wolf Blitzer, a Jew who was born in Israel, will do the astonishing act of being the type that would stick Jewish children into a gas chamber to stay alive another day. He's probably the most despicable man in the media next to Larry King, who takes a close runner-up by the hair of a nose. The two of them together look like the type that would have pushed Jewish children into the oven to stay alive one more day to entertain the Nazis." [8/7/06]

Coulter on Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., an African-American: "Congresswoman Maxine Waters had parachuted into Connecticut earlier in the week to campaign against [Sen. Joseph I.] Lieberman because he once expressed reservations about affirmative action, without which she would not have a job that didn't involve wearing a paper hat. Waters also considers Joe 'soft' on the issue of the CIA inventing crack cocaine and AIDS to kill all the black people in America." [8/9/06]

Nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh, blaming America's "obesity crisis" on "the left," "liberal government," and "food stamps": "Because we are sympathetic, we are compassionate people, we have responded by letting our government literally feed these people to the point of obesity. At least here in America, didn't teach them how to fish, we gave them the fish. Didn't teach them how to butcher a -- slaughter a cow to get the butter, we gave them the butter. The real bloat here, as we know, is in -- is in government." [8/29/06]

Coulter on Sen. Lincoln Chafee, R-R.I.: "They Shot the Wrong Lincoln." [8/30/06]

Conservative pundit and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan: "Look, [Rep. Jim] Kolbe [R-Ariz.] is gay. He is an out-of-the-closet gay. [Rep. Mark] Foley [R-Fla.] was gay. The House clerk who was in charge of the pages [Jeff Trandahl] was gay. Foley's administrative assistant, Mr. [Kirk] Fordham, the New York Times tells us, was gay. You hear about a lot of others. What's going on here, Joe [Scarborough, MSNBC host], is basically these, this little mafia in there looked upon the pages, I guess, as their -- sort of their personal preserve. And it stinks to high heaven what was done. And it stinks to high heaven that it was not exposed and these types of people, thrown out by the Republican Party." [10/9/06]

It is a messure of the negative value of America's rich ruling class that they give these nutcases responsible media jobs. The major media's sole purpose is to make Americans so brainwashed that they will obey the stupid rich, buy their stupid products and kill for stupid Bush.

Rush Limbaugh is blaming the left, the government, and food stamps for making him a fat slob?

If only we had taught him the fine art of slaughtering and butchering a cow, so he wouldn't have to eat them whole and alive.

Fox News's Gibson is a damned fool. What about "reconquista" Mexicans?
Posted by: Pat Kittle on Dec 28, 2006 3:35 AM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
In this catastrophically overpopulated world, it certainly is "most outrageous" for anyone to call for a baby-making race!

-----Repeating Fox News host John Gibson:
"Do your duty. Make more babies... Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic. Why is that? Well, Hispanics are having more kids than others. Notably, the ones Hispanics call 'gabachos' -- white people -- are having fewer." [5/11/06]

Well, as the old saying has it, "Just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you."

Most (not "all") Mexicans believe they will "take over" (at least the southwest part of) the US by outbreeding the (their everyday racist slur) "gringos."
-----As Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez (U. of Texas) puts it:
"We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population... I love it. They are shitting in their pants with fear. I love it.", "We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him."
-----And Augustin Cebeda (Brown Berets) brags:
"Go back to Boston! Go back to Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You are old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you. Leave like beaten rats. You old white people. It is your duty to die. .. Through love of having children, we are going to take over."

We know this is the barely-hidden agenda of Mexican "reconquistas." However, as they become more media-savvy, they pretend quotes like these are merely quaint rhetoric left over from the '60's, long forgotten and no longer relevant.

They're lying. They are unfortunately lying.

And it's time we stopped enabling this stupidity, and treat it with the same contempt we reserve for John Gibson.

Demographic warfare by anyone in this day and age is truly a war crime -- and even worse, it's ecocide.

Don't forget the Faux News caption that identified Mark Foley as a Democrat for two complete news cycles !!! They knew better...just another example of serving up more neocon Kool-Aid.

Thanks to Keith Olbermann for pointing out this one. ( Whoever it is on his staff they pay to monitor Faux News deserves "hazardous duty pay". )

And as crazy as these "pundits" sound, they are dangerous indeed. Think of the millions of sheeple who actually listen to them (like the first commenter). It says a lot about the lack of education in this country when complete and utter idiots such as Coultergeist and Beck even have a following. They are out to make a buck and sell books slinging hate, period. They know that fearful, ignorant people lap it up like nobody's business. Fearful, ignorant people love to hate everything they don't understand. Whether it's foreigners, gays, etc. They are intellectually lazy and actual independent thought scares them. People like Limbaugh and Coultergeist know this. While their rhetoric is idiotic, they are smart enough to know how to use it to make themselves rich and famous. Their listeners, in turn, stay paranoid, bitter and angry at the world, instead of questioning these hacks and figuring things out for themselves. Sad state of affairs that these gasbags swarm the airwaves at all.

I find the article to be just a waste of valuable space. It would take me about one minute to come up with wacky statements by people such as Nancy Pelosi or Martin Sean (sic) or any number of left leaning popular people. That doesn't mean that they would speak for all left leaning people just as those mentioned in the article do not speak for all right leaninig individuals. The fact that Alter Net is playing along with the devisive game of liberal or conservative, is showing that it is also a prejudicial web site. I am now forced to find a better source.

Well, I do kind of agree with what Donahue had to say.

Most people in Hollywood would do anything to make a buck, but I'm not sure they would go as far as to sodomize their own mothers on TV.

Then again, I wouldn't put it past them.

we have gone from Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite to what now passes for "journalism" in American media.

As a kid growing up during the Cold War, I remember being bombarded by all the flack about how terrible the media was in Communist countries, about how it was a tool of the Commie dictators and government to keep the people brainwashed. Well---Pravada has come to the land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

These right-wing blowhards keep yakking about the "decline of America". They better stop blaming it on gays "liberals" "athiests" etc., and take a good hard look at themselves.

These people would have done Joseph Goebbels proud!

Right-wing confusion about Iraq

Take all the quotes that refer to Iraq or Muslims, and there's sure a lot of confusion about who "the enemy" is supposed to be. If the enemy is Muslims in general, or even Iraqis in general, why has Bush put so much effort (in effect) into setting up a Shi'ite theocracy in Iraq allied with Iran?

And hey Bill O'Reilly: "Do I care if the Sunnis and Shiites kill each other in Iraq? No. I don't care. Let's get our people out of there...." Sounds like Cut and Run!

I have to express my gratitude to MM for the compiled comments. I laughed so hard at some of them that I had tears runnig down my cheeks. Goes to show that the truth can be really funny. I especially liked the comments by Neil Boortz on Cynthia McKinney. She does look like a ghetto slut. I'm still laughing at that one. You lefties really should consider that these commentaries on lefty politicians, politics and political positions are true. You'll really get a good laugh out of it. Then again you have no sense of humor. That's why you're leftists.

If Alternet is going to be fair and balanced, how about some left-wing comments that are just absurd. Example: Randi Rhodes skit about putting a bullet in the head of a sitting president. Kanye West, "Bush doesn't like black people".
Sen. Durbin calling our troops Nazi's, Pol Pot and similiar to Gulags. Kerry's botched joke, was not botched. Anything out of Cynthia Mckinney's mouth. I could go on and on.
