Only in America Could a Two-Faced Creature Like McCain Attain Such Media Status

By Rory O'Connor, AlterNet. Posted September 5, 2008.

Only in America could a man who has called the mainstream media his "base" run against that very same media.

Only in America could a man who has been in office for decades run as an "outsider" against the entrenched interests in Washington.

Only in America could a man who is a longtime Republican stalwart run against his own party, which has governed while controlling most of the institutional levers of power -- the presidency, the Supreme Court and the Congress -- for much of the past eight years.

And only in America could a man who has called the corporatized, in-the-tank, mainstream media his "base" -- the media that made him its darling and hailed him for his supposed "straight talk" -- run against that very same media, bashing it figuratively while "peace officers" were doing so quite literally to journalists in the streets of St. Paul, in a manner unseen since the '60s and the Chicago days of Richard Daley and the subsequent Nixonian "nattering nabobs of negativity" era.

Yes, welcome to America, land of opportunity, where every politician is a self-styled "change agent" -- yet little ever seems to change.

Running hard against the elite, effete (or as Bill O'Reilly concisely puts it, the "sniveling, left-wing, wine-drinking, brie-eating") media establishment -- while simultaneously chewing on pork rinds, downing shots of Crown Royal with beer chasers, and quadrennially cozying up to Soccer and Hockey Moms and Nascar Dads -- is of course a time-honored tradition among political practitioners within both the Republican and the Democratic wings of America's ruling Property Party. Yet few since the days of Tricky Dick and his attack dog Spiro Agnew have taken the obligatory attacks on the media to such heights -- or depths, really -- as the McCain-Palin campaign, now effectively run by the bullet-headed attack dog Steve Schmidt and other acolytes of Karl Rove and the band of merry miscreants most responsible for the debacle formerly known as the Bush administration.

One after another, speakers at the Republican National Convention unleashed a barrage of attacks on the news media, as the trade journal Broadcasting & Cable reported:

As the GOP convention hit its stride Tuesday, after its opening was overshadowed by Hurricane Gustav, the press became almost as big a target as Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), with speech after speech tarring the media as liberal and elitist.
Fred Thompson, the senator-turned-actor whose own campaign for the Republican nomination ended early, fired the first broadside in his speech Tuesday. On Wednesday, former Republican presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani joined in before Palin herself took aim.
"I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment," Palin said in her speech accepting the nomination. "And I've learned quickly these past few days that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone."
This prompted sustained boos from the audience at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minneapolis.
Meanwhile, beleaguered Big Media news executives struggled against the unmitigated assaults to defend their coverage. "It's a time-honored marketing ploy, and every time they bash the media, it means they're not talking about a vision or a plan," CNN President Jon Klein said, while also predictably trotting out his usual assault on the blogosphere as a sort of arms-length apologia: "This onslaught about the mainstream media seems woefully time-worn and out of step, considering how new media have become the source of the scurrilous rumor-mongering on both the Right and the Left. If they want to pick a target, let them pick irresponsible bloggers who are reporting rumors promiscuously."

From literally beating the press outside in the streets (and even threatening them inside their offices) to verbally bashing reporters and executives alike everywhere from the convention podium to select media outlets they favor, John McChange and his lipsticked pit bull Sarah Palin are counting on the fact we as a culture have developed such a severe case of ADD that we can no longer ADD one and one and get two!

Is there a problem in Washington? Forget the fact that the Republicans have been running everything there for years -- and elect a Republican "change agent!" Is there a problem with the ongoing war and occupation of Iraq? Forget the fact that the Republicans have been waging a war there for years -- and elect a Republican "change agent!" Is there a problem with our media being complicit with those in power and concealing the truth from the American people? Forget the fact that the Republican candidate for president has benefited from a cozy relationship with his media "base" for years -- and yes, elect a Republican "change agent," who will then, unchanged, crawl right back into bed with that same elite, effete crowd the minute he sets foot in the Oval Office!

Only in America, Land of Opportunity, is everyone free to start over -- and over and over -- endlessly reinventing themselves. Here, as the poet Allen Ginsberg once noted, "yesterday's newspaper is amnesia."

These folks who want 4 more years of the last 8 years, some of them should be given 10 to 20. At hard labor and with no parole.

The Republicans provide great theater...like the World Wrestling Entertainment. They don't provide any bread, but they do provide their own brand of circuses...media circus, political theater, drama, white hats, black hats...pseudo heros, pseudo heroines, and bribes for all to play their parts well.

The rhetoric coming from the Republican National Convention is right out of Joseph Goebbels' play book.
Goebbels And The “Big Lie”

Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels was the master of the “big lie” tactic in which a lie, no matter how outrageous, is repeated often enough that it will eventually be accepted as truth. Goebbels explained:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

The above paragraph is a direct quote from the mouth of Joseph Goebbels. Compare this with the RNC's lies of today and it won't be too hard to see that history does repeat itself. All you have to do is launch a counter attack that is outrageous. The more preposterous the better. Then watch the "deer in the headlight" crowd march lock-step right out the convention front door, ready to do battle to rid Washington of all the corruption and bribery that has been the hallmark of the present administration.
It doesn't seem to matter how corrupt, incompetent or evil the Republican Party might be at any given time, come November, the country still will be divided nearly 50%-50% when voters enter the voting booth.
I say, the voters deserve everything they get; war, recession/depression, poverty, poor schools, over priced gasoline, less and less disposable income and a lower and lower standard of living.
Please, somebody, nominate Bill Maher for President!!!

There's no way that most of the people I know who deserves what might befall us. By this I mean a total give away in terms of Social Security and Medicare and any other source that these robber barons can get their hands on. I will agree that I don't understand how senile and/or flakes with big mouths get a place at the table. Obviously, our educational system needs a total overall so that people have a chance to develop some critical thinking skills. Then, the very idea that our churches as they become huge corporations remain tax free is ridiculous. The very idea that Sarah Palin can emerge as a Beverly Hillbilly with some clout is quite disturbing. If not now, then, it will happen in the future unless steps are taken to make sure that we have a clear definition between state and church and an educated population who votes for their own self interest.

What you write about McCain and the Republicans is quite true. The big problem with your piece lies in the first three words of your title: "Only in America...".

It is totally untrue to say that such things happen only in the US. Here in France, Nicolas Sarkozy used exactly the same strategy - positioning himself as a rebel who would provide a "clean break" (rupture) with the policies of a government in which he had served for years as a leading minister - to win the 2007 elections.

You do a disservice to your readers by writing that phenomena of this kind occur "Only in America". Unsubstantiated clichés of this kind are an encouragement to provincialism and lazy thinking, and to not taking an interest in the rest of the world.

The populace is as much to blame

As much as I empathize with the situation in what I call the Motherland, (I gave up over two years ago and moved to a more civilized country, because I saw the writing on the wall) don't forget the public is as much to blame if not more than the few, and I mean few people compared to the total population that runs the government, media and corporations.

It is the selfish me-first culture, the culture of disease and the placated public that sits around getting fat and more in debt that is to blame. If the country were educated and willing to reflect on the past and look deeper within oneself and those they put in office, maybe things will change.

I am sorry I can complain, but not offer any solutions. The only thing I can say is the US is like an alcoholic, much like the current president, and until there is a bottom nothing will change. It has been and continues to be an interesting view from afar as the country nosedives to the bottom. The bottom will be ugly, but then I think you will see change.

I would offer to anyone willing to criticize my comment that until you are out and looking in, you cannot really see what is going on.

Good luck.

capitalism in crisis? The names are significant but not the story. The narrative is a chronicle of power desperate to preserve itself. I believe there are historical precedents. Try "A Short History of Progress" by Ronald Wright. It will get worse before it gets better...lots.

After 3 days, it stinks and must be discarded. After 28 years the same holds true and then some. If you loved Reagan/Bush, Bush/Quayle, Clinton/Gore and Bush/Cheney and their maloderous legacy just think of how enamored you will be in January when McCain/Palin prolong the cycle. My unfettered belief is its time to toss the entire kettle of fish and begin rebuilding this penal colony with a "copped" plea that at least grants us probation for 4 years. Obamarama/Biden seem to be a better catch of the day and ought to be given such probation. Everyone else is a felon that should be prosecuted and housed at Gitmo on conviction. Now that's a justice I can believe in and endorse!

To our friends in Australia and France, I agree. This is a truly trademark of an "American". We explore this in my cross-cultural class and all the students agree: self-bashing is a trademark of this culture...until someone agrees, then Americans can become quite xenophobic and ethnocentric.

That issue aside, since politicians are the same through time and space, the dumbing down of the electorate and the power of media spin are two key factors with a global relevance which should be alarming to all of us. Is there no more message of substance connected to any reality which is not brought forth and used by the corporate community?

What to do?

It's a freekin' roller-coaster ride now. This guy telling me that we need to do this and the other guy telling me we need to do that. I just read something telling me I need to stop the population from getting to 3 billion people, that I need to ensure we use sustainable energy, and that we need to secure and ensure a food supply for the whole world.

I need to give up hydrocarbons. I need to drink less beer. I need to stop smoking. I need to give up meat. I need to exercise.

On top of all that I need to make sure world population stays below 3 billion.

Oh, safe drinking water. I need to make sure there is enough safe drinking water for all the as-yet-less-than-3-billion folks on Earth.

Just trying to get someone to unlock my classroom in time for lectures was my biggest concern not more than 3 hours ago. Yesterday I was sort of preoccupied with the geyser of water shooting out of one of the toilets in my house. Day before that was taken up with solving the problem of suddenly having the dining room light switch turn on nothing but the same level of darkness. Makes me feel inadequate for having my own little local problems when the Earth is falling apart around me.

I would like to do something. I mean actually do something about where we are as humans and what is happening to our planet. I take steps that I can. I take my cloth bags to the market. Well, I often take my cloth bags to the market. Unless I forget to take them.

My toilet has 2 speeds, and I always make it a point to press the pee button after I pee, and the poop button only when I need to. I take showers, not baths. That's an easy one. Both bathrooms have only showers in them. Couldn't take a bath if I wanted to.

Now I find out that McCain chose Palin just because she was a crusty fighting woman, but that Obama rejected Clinton for the same reason. McCain is Bush, Obama is, umm, well I guess 'elite' is all he has really been accused of for now.

My country is involved in couple of wars I don't understand. It's the war against terriers or something. Now I don't really care much for little terriers, always been a large-dog fan myself, but why are we killing so many people for the sake of nervous dogs? What the heck has happened to my country?

I am an Army veteran. I did my 3 years of volunteer service in the 70s, when it was not such a popular thing to do. I did it because I thought it was something I was supposed to do. Paying back to a society that offered me protection and a good life. Oh, and a college education in exchange for the 3 years.

Yeah, well, I live in China now. I have for the past 8 years or so. I am just as much an American as Cheney. Bad comparison, sorry. I am just as much an American as Palin or McCain. Ooops, another bad comparison. I am just enough of an American to have a vote in the general elections. There. That is the real test of Americanism. Being a citizen and casting a vote.

This is one election for US President I am going to sit out, though. I live in a nice house on the South China Sea. I can go outside and pluck a banana from a tree right outside my door. I get good healthcare for pennies, but I don't have to pay because I have insurance here. I have a good job. My family and I have plenty to eat.

I gave up on America. The dream that inspired me to serve my country honourably was dashed against rocks that the world bank now owns. The American dream turned out to be an old West façade and an illusion. A few thousand miles of distance makes it better.

their resources? I will try the book...however, I am confused...how will it get better after it gets worse. Mostly revolutions in established countries bring dictatorship because the people are so far down and only a King Aurthur can create for them a Camolot that in the end is overtaken by the Cain's who unleash the dark side of the populace by encouraging some men to do to the Abels what the Abel's would never allow themselves to do onto the Cains, which paves the road to hell. ex. Marx's Communism and Lenin's reality, Germany's socialism and HItler's dictatorship, France's gullitines and Napolean's France. And then, our history shows, with hope and charity and community we rebuild...to find..the wolves in sheeps clothing (greed and for oneself at all costs to mankind) have been growing stronger in our midst and most of us are unaware until they bear their teeth and lunge.
We need to do someething to change that......we need to find a way to upgrade the structure of society and in doing so...work to upgrade human nature and learn how to deal with the Cain's, those that are always ready and willing to grab a bigger and bigger piece of the pie till they are the only ones living better than the frightened, confused work horses. And this sir, is our moment to begin to prepare for when the worse becomes a reality......and who knows, maybe we can grow strong enough and aware enough to avert the worse (remember this worse will be worse than the past worses because while human nature did not change, man's ability to distroy has grown by leaps and bounds.
Therefore and in this election when all is said and done, we have only two options:
Either we vote for McCain and Palin, the face of the wolves have chosen to lead us...and decide, realize that there is no status quo,...because they have forced us into a downward spiriling which always picks up momentum.
Or, we can vote for Obama, who has carefully listened to the problems of present day America, and has pledged his efforts to our needs. And that, as I see it, is only a first step........if we want change real and lasting change...........

Obama's campaign has done very little to counter the the Republican team. Look on Alternet. Just like in the MSM everyone is talking about McCain and Palin. They are defining themselves effectively with the help of the MSM and lack of counter attack from Obama's team. Why is that? All that money Obama has. If they cannot effectively counter the mindless platitudes and feel good proclamations from these corporate socialists then how will they counter Karl Rove's inevitable October Suprise? I am a Nader supporter because I think he understands the forces destroying this country better than anyone, except maybe Ron Paul, and is not tainted by lobbyists and corporate influence. But I would be very upset if I were an Obama supporter.

In the last week, my feelings of "unable to see straight" rage have grown from the occasional twinge to a nearly constant state of being.

The outright lies of McCain, Palin and company are enraging, but it is the media's relentless repetition of the lies and nearly complete lack of any actual questioning or analysis that is the cause of my impending brain aneurism.

I know that I'm preaching to the choir here, but as I sat here this morning reading your excellent article on the lies in John McCain's speech, I started thinking about how much time and effort it takes to track down the truth.

We liberals are quick to talk about how stupid and gullible the majority of the American voters are, but even for those who aren't, if you're working two jobs and trying to raise a family, you probably don't have time to be sitting at your computer trying to track down the truth. Even if you're trying to be a responsible voter, you sure won't get any truth from having CNN or the nightly news on in the background while you're fixing dinner.

The internet has become our new unfettered press, and thank God for it. But watching actual journalism bubble up to the MSM media only when it gets to big to ignore or demean is more depressing than I can put into words.

Media Bashing Worked

Soon after the McCain campaign bashed all media who were reporting unpleasant facts about Palin and him did I literally see many networks tone down their own objective news reporting. Often I watched Wolf Blitzer from CNN raise the issue of "let's be careful how we say this now...we are being accused of being biased...etc." I watched, in horror, as some leading news broadcasters did more of the same. Thus, the media pulled back on real news, which is critical to the American public to know, to digest, and understand.

We don't get the "real" stories from the McCain campaign, so now, more than ever, we rely heavily upon our news media. For a while, the media was running "scared." And I was sick at heart. However, in the last couple of days, it appears as though the media is striking back and it should. We have to respect the First Constitutional Amendment, and we have to uphold it. News media must be the voice of truth, more than ever these days. Everyone in America "has a voice", including the media! We don't have to like what the media reports, but we must accept it. It is our responsibility to our Constitution that we uphold our right to free speech.

We cannot believe that Republicans do not "get it." They sure do "get it." That's why they muscle the media an all private citizens. If we are talking about a marketing campaign, then the Republicans are doing a great job at it. If we are talking about politics, they are doing a good job at that as well. But if we are talking about truth and dignity, or about government and our nation's challenges, they sure do NOT "get it." And they simply do not care.

For the most part you are preaching to the choir. I voted for Hillary but will proudly vote for Obama.
Get out and work for Obama in your neighborhoods. Contact your local Democrat headquarters, and get a handful of Obama literature and posters then knock on your neighbors' doors. That's what I am doing. If you can't do that, ask for a copy of Democratic voters in your precinct, and make some phone calls from your home.

WHY ARE YOU IN A PANIC!
Hey, Obama has been traveling with "His Magic Show" and now the Adults are investigating his plans for America and The American People don't like it!
The Obama controled Media (MSNBC etc) Over Played their hand this past week and the American People have REJECTED the Democrats. This is just the start of a Landslide WIN for McCain/Palin. If you think the "Baby Boomers" are going to Vote for "Socialism" ,your crazy.
The Republican's for the last 8 years have made major mistakes but we don't and won't give Control over to the Democrat party ,which has gone "So FAR LEFT" of Russia . This democrat party is NOT my Father's Democrat Party any more. SAD but True.
NOW YOU CAN WORRY!

McCain's Son on Board of Failed Bank

Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Silver State Bank has failed and been closed by federal and state regulators. It is the 11th bank failure this year. What is particularly noteworthy about this failure is that John McCain's son, Andrew McCain, was on the board of directors until about a month ago. While Barack Obama has said that candidate's children are off limits, it is not clear if that also holds for adult children involved in bank failures. This incident is surely going to drum up interested in the failure of another Arizona bank, the one run by Charles Keating, who ultimately went to federal prison despite his trying to get John McCain to help him. The Wall Street Journal has more.

Nations I call home. Nations that I seek to be involved with would not put their fellows in such a position, so before I will even come closer to voting for any of these guys that needs to stop.

It probably won't so hopefully this nation is decentralized.

"thieves, thieves and liars, murderers

two-faced parasites and sycophants
no trust

thieves! liars! thieves! liars! thieves! thieves! liars!
inside, outside, which side, you don't know
my side, your side, their side, we don't know
which side today? which side today?
which side of your mouth do you spread your decay?
which side today? which side today?
which side of the fence is greener?
inside, outside, which side, we don't know
my side, your side, their side, we don't know

you're like a great big fucking gun,
just waiting to get squeezed!

greed, profit erection!

or something close to that. One tour that was on video they fenced in the stage and after the song would suck their thumbs, then transition the thumb gesture to a mocking nazi salute.

I agree -- Nadar is a hell of a guy! And maybe he does and maybe he doesn't understand all the issues better -- but he is not on all the ballots..and therefore even if he had a large support group, he would not be able to get elected. So, by giving your vote to Nadar you are NOT voting your conscience you are voting your wishes -- you wish we had better choices.
And if you want that...do not allow McCain to be the next president. Instead start gathering your forces so that Nadar can become, in politics, the great influence he was in consumer affairs. We need good men like Nadar, and I for one would be willing to work with him or for him in building a better world.....BUT I WILL NOT GIVE HIM MY VOTE THIS TIME-because the less-er of two evils...is better than the more-er. At least it buys us some time to do grow. And trust me...as the crooks go running off to the bank with your bucks when McCain's face becomes our future they will be laughing and saying.....IF THEY ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO PUT HIM IN....THEY DESERVE WHAT THEY GET.

Now they can count me as one more. The Dems who want to vote for McCain because our High Command sold us out, leaving Hillary COMPLETELY off the ticket?

DON'T VOTE FOR McSAME. VOTE INDEPENDENT and SCREW BOTH SELLOUT PARTIES! Hey--what's the worse that can happen? Nader wins?

Oh Boo Hoo! Well--at least then, we may--finally get Truth in (Political as well as all other) Advertising!

find out if--where he's NOT on the ballot and you want to vote for him--you can make it as a WRITE-IN. Start NOW with this--or the new DemoPublican Party wins (Dems & Repukes, now combined to screw us all) in November.

VOTE NADER (Independent Party)! As a write-in if needs be.. Yeah, we're finally all just that disgusted with both parties; this is the very first year that Independent can win. You should see their surging numbers (probably thanks to Lou Dobbs, the country's most famous Indy)!

Anyway, given Lou Dobbs as their positive--and the Dems & Republican sell-out parties with all their negatives--this is probably the year when the Independent Party will win a national election.

So anyone wishing to punish the Democratic Party for their sellout on Hillary Clinton:

Anyone wishing to punish the Republican Party for--well, I don't want to get writers' cramp here, so you all fill in those blanks--then go to the polls OR make it a write-in: Vote for:

Ralph Nader. And believe me--nobody's leaving Nader OR the Indys off of any ticket. Just ask Lou (CNN at 6PM Central)!

I'm watching Washington Week on PBS; Gwen Ifill holds court.
They make me sick; they only talk about political strategies, and no substance. There's not a dime's worth of difference in all of these talking head shows. It's show biz, folks;for those who cannot think for themselves!
Rachel Maddow, in for Keith Olberman Friday, was able to call McCain and Palin out on nearly every lie they told; in a matter of moments. And, she is alone in the mainstream TV media. I'm so glad she will have her own show on MSNBC; after Olberman's!
Those of us who do not truck in BS, have places like Alternet, Common Dreams and many others, to thank for always delivering the truth!
Palin is an obvious ringer; intended to lure in the Rapepublican base. And, we all know that there is nothing more base than the Rapepublican base.
The litany of lies from the right is nothing short of awesome; because they are never called on their lies, it passes as truth. Dems attempt to tell the truth and are branded elitist; give me a break, already!

Anybody who has had a HS education and is no moron can see the obvious selling of the president.

Why are we outraged at the appalling media blitz by both of these major parties elites... These men and women are not real people, or patriots. They are salespersons selling a lethal product--themselves.

Why not discuss the sex life of a Polar Bear instead?

Come on - you know you all really love these nice cuddly Polar Bears who you all took into your beds instead of Teddy?

I had Two Teddy Bears - My Girlfriend Susan gave me hers when she was 2 and I was 3.

But then I was taken away from her at the age of 4

All hell broke out

Where the fuck was I?

They knocked down our conservatory - and gave Susan my massive Great Goldfish

She stabbed it with a fork

And then I came back - my conservatory had gone, my goldfish had gone - and my girlfriend had killed it with a fork

It was the end of our relationship.

I could never trust her again.

She KILLED MY FUCKING GOLDFISH

The two candidates are now tied. This makes no sense considering the castrophe this country is in and the even bigger catastrophe to follow. Both at home and abroad we are losing our soul as a nation. Even now those who wish us well are wondering who will be the next big power to cuddle up to. Even now those who wish us ill are wondering when the proper opportunity will arise when they can pull the rug out from beneath us by calling in all their American assets, which are huge thanks to the last two administrations, especially the last.

How can a two-faced creature like McCain can attain media status? We must be candid with ourselves: Parts of this country will never vote for Obama because to them he is the "wrong" color. If he were white he would be leading by double digits! This is how McCain can attain media status and the White house as well!!!

My God, Sarah Palin in the Middle East together with McBush who can't remember what day it is? What a nightmare. Then there is the issue of role models. I'd rather have my kids model themselves after a man who worked his way up to be president of the Harvard Law Review and a widowed dad who took the train home every night to be with his family than a woman with a pregnant 17 year old who decorates her office with dead animals and a man who left his disabled wife for a rich barbie doll.

Cindy McCain's speech was good theater, and it's great that she is working to help clear landmines and treat their victims. However, that should not blind us to John McCain's refusal to support legislations banning landmines and cluster bombs. Cindy's work on behalf of children with cleft lip and palate shouldn't distract us from John's antipathy towards healthcare for poor children.

I saw the clip on Michelle Obama stating that she was proud for the first time something like 50 times. Palin's hubby belonged to a group that wanted to secede from the nation and hardly a whisper is spoken. I ask you, which seems more anti-American, a mere statement (probably a misstatement) or belonging to a radical group that wants Alaska to be its own nation?

For flippin' months and months the right-wing talking heads have been screeching that Obama has too little foreign policy experience in these dangerous times, but they defend or won't discuss Palin's absolute lack of any qualifications. They do amazing things such as tell us that because Alaska is near Russia and because she had a layover in Ireland, she's has international experience. It's almost unbelievable to hear this crap come out of their mouths. I nearly bust up laughting because it's like watching a comedy--it can't be real! What's frightening is that Goopers gobble it up. Did they give them lobotomies at birth or something? Do they not remember what they just heard yesterday?

Only in America could a man who has been in office for decades run as an "outsider" against the entrenched interests in Washington.
========

This happens in any society whose media is suppressed. What is the word on the 'street'?

"Obama is getting a pass with the media."

Really?

How is that possible when the airwaves are filled with 'McCain/Palin, Guns and Bibles' 24/7?

How is it possible that McCain would pass up a the 'chance' for a softball interview with Larry King? After all, they TOLD the media that Palin was off-limits. She's still off-limits and NO ONE will get to vet her. NO ONE.

The media is controlled by the interests who OWN them. They are owned by Republicans.

The elements are all coming together now. The old adage: "When fascism comes to America it will be clutching a Bible (Palin) and wrapped in a flag (McCain)" has now come together in the most astounding way ever conceived.

The rest of the world is laughing it's ass off as they watch it unfold from a distance. Unfortunately, we're watching fascism unfold right in front of our very eyes.

The worst part of it is how many WANT it to happen right here in this country.

The American Experiment has been over since 2000.

Please take the added spaces out between the beginning and end of the date...I had to add because the "word" was too long. Then click on it.

Sure she appears like a comic Lara Croft

But even ordinary republican voters KNOW they are being FUCKED OVER By Forces They Can't Quite Understand

And I don't undestand it either

But we are all being Fucked Over By Some Cunts

And it easy just to blame it on the neocons

But the Fucking Over comes from somewhere Far more powerful than just some right wing bunch of zioist tossers fronted by George Bush

No the Republicans will have no problem shaking off the fucking neocons

They have already been discarded into the remnants of history that no one will want to look back on except to compare the levels of depravity to Hitlers

Something else is going on - far more powerful than Amy Goodman and her Republican/Democratic Party that she has to promote by getting arrested by some buch of blokes who didn't quite get the job in the Matrix a completly crap film that I didn't understand - after even watching it twice

Tony

The Republicans have no dignity nor shame, have they? They have stolen "change" to be their own, yet McCain has supported Bush 90% of the time during the last 8 years. And Palin makes Bush look like a liberal! McCain/Palin is not "more of the same." They are "worst than the same." Please America. Stand up and vote for real change. We cannot afford another eight years of irresponsible actions and ignorant policies.

Some say: "steal with pride." I say: "Shame on McCain. Find your own message and ensure it reflects who you are and what you intend to do for this country in desperate need." So far, you have told us nothing other than the fact that you can recognize a "good looking woman." Get with it, McCain.

Take responsibility for using this manipulative, ignorant, devious Palin woman for her skirt. Take responsibility for putting her a heartbeat away from leading this nation and hang your head in shame. Take responsibility and create some real policies that will get us out of the mess we are in...the mess you helped create, along with you buddy, George Bush. There is no denying it: You ARE Bush...just a different-looking version.
