Filmmakers James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles have released new tapes of their anti-ACORN sting operation which appear to show an ACORN employee cheerfully counseling them on how to run a prostitution ring with underage girls and launder the proceeds into a campaign for Congress.

The two appeared with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday, along with conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart, who distributed their earlier sting tapes at his BigGovernment.com website. All three are targets of an ACORN lawsuit in Maryland alleging "illegal videotaping."

In an entry headed "Andrew Breitbart Trying To Blackmail The Obama Administration," the site Newshounds notes, "Judging from the very edited video Breitbart presented last night, one suspects that the real reason it was withheld was because it did little to effectively incriminate ACORN. Breitbart, on the other hand, incriminated himself even worse. Near the end of the segment, he told Hannity that he had more videos and 'not just ACORN' that he threatened to release during the 2010 election cycle unless the Department of Justice opened a federal investigation into ACORN."

Breitbart appeared to be particularly furious about an investigation by the office of California Attorney General Jerry Brown, which was opened in response to a request from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger but which Breitbart sees as tied to Brown's own interest in running for governor. He complained that neither Congress nor Attorney General Eric Holder has shown any interest in launching a full investigation of ACORN, accused the Democrats of "hypocrisy," and threatened to use still unreleased tapes as ammunition against Democratic candidates.

"Congress didn't come in to investigate them," Breitbart said somewhat incoherently, "obviously not the Attorney General's office, and they've now realized, 'Let's get back into business,' because they've realized that the dust settled and they were not being investigated. It was Hannah and James and me who were being investigated. That's why we've been forced to offer this latest tape."

Breitbart's charges are likely to find a receptive audience among Republicans, a majority of whom -- according to one poll -- already believe that ACORN stole the 2008 presidential election for Barack Obama.

In a breathtaking attempt to use the O'Keefe-Giles tapes to put pressure on the Obama administration, Breitbart announced, "Not only are there more tapes, it's not just ACORN. And this message is to Attorney General Holder. ... We're going to hold out until the next election cycle -- or else, if you want to do a clean investigation, we will give you the rest of what we have, we will comply with you, we will give you the documentation we have from countless ACORN whistleblowers who want to come forward but are fearful of this organization and the retribution -- that they fear that this is a dangerous organization."

"So if you will get into an investigation," Breitbart concluded, "we will give you the tapes, and if you don't give us the tapes [sic], we will revisit these tapes come election time."

According to Newshounds, "Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary defines 'blackmail' as 'extortion or coercion by threats especially of public exposure or criminal prosecution.'" That would appear to cover Breitbart's explicit threat directed to Attorney General Holder.

Obama Cowardice ...

Obama should have defended ACORN while admitting they have problems like any big loosely knit organization. Now since Obama has not drawn the line it's open season on both ACORN and Obama.

The Right fiercely defends their support groups with counter attacks and even smears of the assailants ... Obama couldn't find the time or the guts to defend an organization, albeit with warts, that carried so much water for him.

Obama has turned his back on the very people and organizations that gave him so much support in his run for the presidency. He will find himself getting lonelier and lonelier, left with the revolving door Washington insider crowd that will at first pump him then dump him like a penny stock.

Obama has no loyalties and stands for nothing. His eloquent speeches aren't worth the air they're printed on. Is it any surprise that he will be pimped by this charlatan when he is just a whore for the powers that be? Such is Obama's fate ... a Coney Island White Fish ...

The political Right as public-health hazard

We should all do what we can to help ACORN in its time of need. We need to fight the right-wing jihad against this group.

I don't think it is unreasonable to suggest we are on a slippery slope in the matter of ACORN. If the Right can damage or destroy ACORN today, they can damage or destroy the NAACP tomorrow.

The right in America are unbelievably stupid. They are a creepy minority of mostly white males. They cannot run an elevator, much less a country.

But the Right are veritable geniuses at destroying things--reputations, electoral systems, constitutions. They are often well-monied, energized by the zeal of the insane, and possessed of a herd instinct that would put a cow to shame.

And they are almostt always covert. They rig electons, mount smear campaigns, pull dirty tricks, and in general sneak in the back door while everyone's back is turned.

When the Right get a head of steam--as with ACORN--they become virtually rabid. Their behavior poses a significant public-health risk to the country.

I invite my fellow lefties to think of the political right in America as a massive public-health risk.

You will finds that this clarifies everything and makes it very clear.

If we of the left are smart, as we seem to think we are, we will devote significant resources to thwarting the activities of the Right, which are inherently treasonous. Thank God they're such cowards.

What is frustrating is the quickness with which they cut off ALL government Funding for Acorn and yet we have Halliburton which has been found guilty of far more serious offenses still continues to feed at the Public Trough.
They have been found to have overcharged the Government for Gasoline in Iraq and KBR has done such shoddy work that troops have been electrocuted in their showers and been allowed to drink contaminated water . KBR is also famous for that case involving that young Texas Girl who was gang raped and then held incommunicado in a shipping container .They want to force her to drop her suit and submit to binding arbitration . AND oh yes they mysteriously "lost" the medical file relating to the incident .
Not only do these bastard Republicans have no problem with this kind of Conduct but they actually OPPOSED a bill by Senator Franken to deny Government Contracts to firms who will NOT allow Criminal Charges to be filed by victims such as that poor girl

How else can you describe politicians, or anybody for that matter, who are so stupid and hateful that they produce a ludicrous result as the marriage ban in Texas.
Given half a chance, zeros like these would destroy the entire Earth in a fit of pique when they didn't get their way.
By the way, Rachel Maddow dealt with this topic on her show last night, with her usual razor-sharp wit and understated humor.

Atty. Gen. Holder needs to prosecute them, make them turn over all tapes, and be done with it. These political cockroaches need to be squashed before they reproduce! This is ridiculous.

Blackmailing the Atty. Gen. is a crime, isn't it? Let 'em have it, already!

ACORN is about the most innocuous group in the world

I've never been an ACORN member, though by way of full disclosure I am a member of Iowa Citizen Action Network, ICAN, and the ACLU. In fact the only people I even knew who were
ACORN members were elderly retirees.

Yet this basically harmless organization, just merely attempts to garner a modicum of justice for poor people, scares the be-jeezus out of the Republican Party. The thought of poor people organizing to prevent unscrupulous bankers foreclosing on the homes of the working poor must keep Karl Rove, Michael Steele, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner (and yes it is pronounced BONE-er) up at night.

And the most sickening thing about the RNC and FauxNews jihad on ACORN is that the white working-middle class dupes, to whom this vile tripe is pitched, are in the crosshairs of the foreclosure gang. By playing to the inherent racism of too many suburban and rural white working-middle and lower-middle class Americans--and yes the appeal is racist as anyone can see from the merest scanning of the James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles videos--FauxNews and the RNC is luring them right into the ovens of their own economic Auschwitz.

More to the point, when will our enfeabled Attorney General (or California's) investigate the real election fraud committed by organized Rove Republicans in obstructing and hacking the national elections, to say nothing of violating our Constitutional Rights by falsely charging and imprisoning political opponents such as Gov. Don Seigleman still being prosecuted by the Obama-Bush Justice Dept.? ACORN on the other hand committed no voting fraud but instead turned in all evidence they found before the elections. We need to take back our complicit media, including the phoney Establishment Liberals who go along with some of this.
