Crazy "Birther" Conspiracy Theories Get Boost in Mainstream Media

The movement is a sinister attempt to paint Obama as illegitimate, foreign, and suspect. Why are pundits like Lou Dobbs taking it seriously?

If James von Brunn weren't in a locked security ward at Southeast General Hospital in Washington, D.C., and awaiting trial for the murder of a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the 88-year-old racist and neo-Nazi might have taken comfort from listening to Lou Dobbs' syndicated radio show or watching Dobbs on CNN in recent days. Von Brunn would have likely felt some sense of affirmation from Dobbs, as the host began belatedly championing the cause of so-called "birthers," the angry band of right-wing conspiracy theorists who claim President Obama has not released a valid birth certificate and, in some cases, flat-out assert that he was not born in America and therefore is ineligible to be president of the United States. (Here's a good birther primer; here's the official right-wing defense of birthers.)

Had von Brunn been listening, Dobbs would likely have "spoken" to him. Just a few months before opening fire at the museum, von Brunn, apparently a proud birther himself, had done his best to spread the word online about Obama's illegitimate rule: "What is going on??? WHERE ARE THE GOOD PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY - ARE YOU OUT THERE???"

Ranting online, von Brunn also denounced the "dishonest & conspiratorial Media" for ignoring the blockbuster birther story.

Then suddenly up popped Dobbs, who, again and again in recent days, has propped up the birthers and taken on all comers who dared dismiss claims that Obama has failed to prove his U.S. citizenship. Suddenly, for dedicated birthers like von Brunn, the rudderless movement had a willing mainstream spokesman, somebody who reached beyond the paranoid confines of WorldNetDaily and Newsmax or the Michael Savage show and branched out into the masses.

Suddenly, the birthers had media big shot Lou Dobbs onboard as he, at times, turned his radio and television programs into a birther paradise, floating the same loaded, fact-free assertions that conspiracy theorists had been making for nearly a year:

    • "But we're going to keep talking about this until we get some straight answers."
    • "What is the deal here? I'm starting to think we have a -- we have a document issue."
    • "And all we need here is a doggone document, but for some reason the president doesn't want to release that."
    • "There are real questions here that need to be answered."

Dobbs has certainly taken some heat for his recent birther turn. (He's "effectively destroying his career with this stuff," birther expert David Weigel wrote at The Washington Independent.) But there's more to this story than Dobbs. And the phenomenon in play isn't just about a birth certificate. And it's also not isolated or accidental.

Because, yes, viewed in a vacuum, the movement seems like the nutty fringe. But viewed in a larger historical context, birthers share obvious ties to traditional right-wing assaults on previous Democrats, and birthers have all the marks of a GOP Noise Machine creation. The movement is about a larger, more sinister attempt to paint Obama as illegitimate, foreign, and suspect (i.e. not like you and me). To portray him as "a gratuitous interloper," as radio host G. Gordon Liddy put it. As someone who isn't who he says he is. As -- let's face it -- the Manchurian Candidate, with all the evil connotations that come with it. ("WHO SENT YOU???" von Brunn demanded to know of Obama.)

Did Lou Dobbs hit his head?

I remember Dobbs from only a few years ago as a bit of a blowhard, but essentially Centrist in his punditry.
Then he got onto the "illegals" bandwagon and seemed to morph into the love child of Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage.

The fact that he would even bother with the birthing scenario suggests that he is manouvering to be the CNN version of Hannity or O'Reilly by deliberately choosing unpopular positions.

Either that or he really did hit his head.

Cute conflation with 9/11 truth....yawn Alternet, surely you can do better?

From the article:

And make no mistake, Dobbs' performance in recent days has been nothing short of shocking. His birther cheerleading would be the equivalent of a CNN host, one year after the fact, going on the air and suggesting the Bush administration needed to prove, once and for all, that it was not behind the terrorist attacks of September 11 ("There are real questions here that need to be answered"). Of course, that kind of reckless rhetoric would be inconceivable on a mainstream television outlet.

Perhaps the author would care to explain:

1) Norman Mineta's testimony to the 9/11 Commission,

2) Why the President was sitting in a classroom while the country was under "terrorist attack",

3) Why the Secretary of Defense was eating breakfast while four planes were being hijacked,

4) Why the acting head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was sitting in a Senator's office talking while the country was being "attacked"

5) Why FBI headquarters blocked the Minneapolis field agents from looking at Zacarias Moussaoui's laptop until after 9/11,

6) Why NORAD failed to intercept even one plane in 100 minutes and told three different stories about their complete failure on 9/11/01,

7) Why no one lost their job, or even got a reprimand, for the massive "failure" that day.

8) Why none of the pilots on the four planes entered a hijack code if their planes were being hijacked,

9) How two planes caused three steel-framed buildings to be completely demolished, something that has not happened before or since 9/11?

(There are literally thousands of unanswered questions about 9/11...)

But, no, it is easier to write a piece smearing those with legitimate questions with this nonsense.

Surely, you can do better than this, Alternet?

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

...on NBC gave it airtime 2 days ago, and posted the story on his Nightly blog. He aired a piece of video shot a some town hall meeting showing some crazy lady yelling at the top of her lungs about "where is his birth certificate?" and "I want my country back". It was a positive piece, de-bunking the birther conspiracy. It must have been a slow newsday.

Hmmm, this is one of the more interesting spins on an issue that I ....
Posted by: Prophit on Jul 24, 2009 2:37 AM
Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
.... have seen in a while. Lets see if I understand this article correctly. Lou Dobbs did not say he supported what that 88 year old did to the guard at the holocaust museum, yet, he brings this guy up on a discussion about Obama's birth certificate???

Now why in the world would he connect Lou Dobbs to this racist nazi who is now probably senile and mentally ill, instead of focusing on the issue of the birth certificate or on Lou Dobbs himself???

The first post above does that nicely. So what is the agenda for shoving the issue of Obama's birth certificate into the same category as some racist nazi 88 year old killer????

I find no comparison whatsoever, except to appeal to the most base emotions of this audience and conjure up hate and fear of Lou Dobbs which is a joke since the man is ineffectual. Maybe its to instill hate and fear in other Americans who question Obama's history?

I don't understand this particular spin. For me I would have said, "the issue is moot, Obama will be showing his birth certificate for the courts soon and that will put the issue to rest".....

Or I might have said "Why doesn't Obama show his authentic original certificate so we CAN put this issue to rest".....

Anyway, there are a number of ways to address the issue, but to tie it into a racists nazi 88 year old senile man who has obviously gone off his rocker (its why we need mental health coverage in the universal health care program) and then make assumptions about Lou Dobbs is ludicrous.

I have said the same thing to friends on the right who try to do that same thing to Olbermman..... Its manipulation of peoples emotions to try and control them and their actions.

No one on here is going to go out and shoot a bunch of people HOPING they are right wing nazi's so get off it already. Lets focus on the daily repressive legislation heading through congress like the "FOOD SAFETY ACT" that is a "FOOD CONTROL ACT" and get upset about that.

Its going to do away with organic farmers and back yard gardens or neighborhood food grow domes. NOW THAT IS SOMETHING TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT.

Obama's birth will take care of itself since that is why we have the system in place that we do have.

Why [was] the President...sitting in a classroom while the country was under "terrorist attack."

Because he's incompetent. ;)

One thing's for sure--Bush's brainlock on 9/11 proves 9/11 was not an inside job.

If 9/11 had been an inside job, they would have done something to make Bush look good. Bush's behavior on 9/11 makes no sense in any of the hundreds of mutually-contradictory 9/11 conspiracy scenario.

The Truthers get around this problem as they always do--by ignoring it. ;)

first if you believe this .."Fox News has been doing that practically since Inauguration Day, as its hosts have mainstreamed a violent brand of militia rhetoric, beseeching viewers to take to the streets against the President........" you'll believe anything this idiot writes.

All Obama has to do is present a valid birth certificate. If he hasn't one has to ask why? I thought that would have been part of the process!

I have read that he noted on an application for financial aid for college that he was not a citizen. Lots of conspiracy theories going around here...but we know how nuts love conspiracy theories... just look at those surrounding 9/11!

In order to be considered a citizen there are several criteria which have to be met.

1. Birth in the US, regardless the nationality of parents; OR

2. Born aboard to two are US citizens at the time of birth; OR

3.) After Nov. 14, 1986, born abroad with one parent a US citizen at the time of birth.

The status of those people born prior to 11/14/86 is determined by the law at the time of their birth, because it has changed many, many times.

Tha law at the time of Obama's birth is determined by the following case:

"1961 Montana v. Kennedy (366 U.S. 308 (1961)). The court ruled that a child born abroad prior to May 24, 1934, to an American citizen mother did not acquire American citizenship at birth, since at that time citizenship at birth was transmitted only by a citizen father. Although subsequent legislation conferred upon American women the power to transmit citizenship to their children born abroad, such legislation was not retroactive and did not bestow citizenship on persons born before the enactment of such legislation."

Prior to this case the law was patently sexist in that citizenship was magically conferred through the 'father'. A test at the Supreme Court would hopefully been won based on 'equality before the law'. But that doesn't have to be the case now.

The bottom line is that Obama is a US citizen even if he was born in Kenya or on the moon. Case closed, get over it and on to something more serious like Republican and Democrats war crimes. Jeesh!

A few years ago, I applied for a US passport. In the process, I had to show my birth certificate, to prove that I am a citizen of the US. I did so, of course, without objection. I think that's an absolutely reasonable requirement. When I got my driver's license many years ago, I had to show my birth certificate, too. Why isn't Obama required to show his birth certificate? Surely, the presidency of the country is far more important than a passport or a driver's license.

The right's getting more and more ridiculous. It would be entertaining if some people didn't take the freaks seriously!

Like Buchanan last week ranting about reverse discrimination. Now Dobbs, and even the ever trustworthy (!) "Two Gun" G. Gordon Liddy endorsing the birther nonsense. Can they get worse than the 9/11 truthers? Yes, and they have!

It seems to me that they're trying to appeal to the fringe right, the growth of which they're anticipating.

My spouse's sister in law, an ostensibly "educated" woman, rambles on with birther theories, Obama being a Muslim... If I challenge any of the myths, even with petty things like FACTS, then I'm part of the conspiracy!

Well, ever since Wolfe Blitzkrieg led the cheers for the invasion of Iraq (for which he should be, by Nuremburg standards, on death row), I haven't been a CNN watcher. I'll now discourage others from watching it what with Dobbs falling deeper into the abyss of irrationality.

Is there a psychiatric hotline we can call to get Dobbs to take his meds?

The great thing about conspiracy theories is that any evidence submitted to refute the theory is viewed as evidence of the theory. This birther thing was handled rather easy during the campaign. Why is it reemerging in the media now, just a slow news day? As for Dobbs since he wrote his book, his delusions of grandeur have made him unbearable.

Natural born citizen or not, Obama as a president is a dissapointment. He is polished version of G.W. and this must not be allowed to continue. We need to get him out by any legal means possible and if the birth certificate will do it, why argue about it. Few politicians represent the people anyway so there is no use in counting on them. This will have to be done by us.
So lets get behind Lou Dobbs and find out if there is something in this story. If Lou is wrong and he is doing this for publicity, that is his problem. At least maybe we will know. One thing is for sure; only a person with their head in sand can't see what Obama is doing. And like the previous presidents, there will always be a certain number of followers that follow blindly.

This is How We Do It

This is the epitome of a process of managing electorates I've been calling myth-jacking.

After all, facts don't move electorates; myths do.

This is absolutely crucial: 'Myth' is not synonymous with 'lie;' a myth is a metaphorical image of the composition and functioning of the cosmos that shapes the world in which we are presently enacting this wholly absurd theater of life.

National myths deliver us as a people into our Promised or Waste Land, exactly as we load them with our intentions: passengers into life boats, or kittens into burlap sacks? Our myths, our shared narratives, are as indispensable as a mother's womb.

Benign or malign, either way we're getting taken for a ride. As Americans, we need to direct our own passage, but we aren't educated and socialized to be self-sovereign citizens. Instead, we're taught to be loyal subjects, fans, of a political master of a mechanical universe; to shut up and do as we're told; to demonstrate our loyalty by our fervor when presented with patriotic symbols. The Big Man Upstairs Knows Best.

What are think tanks for, anyway? They exist for myth-making. Myths needn't make sense, they just have to move the numbers in the desired direction, whether those be toothpaste sales or votes for president.

My guess is, Neocon think-tankers are milking this for all it's worth. Remember when FOX News had over half of us believing in mythical Iraqi WMDs? How hard can it be to convince rednecks that a black Democratic president with an African name really isn't president?

Dobbs is trying to myth-jack us, just as he did with immigration. Back in the day, it was called "yellow journalism," and it has a long history of war-mongering.

Watch David Shuster interview Scott Horton, it's a must see.

NSA-type Fiends Deceiving Us

Back in February, Horton said:

[A]n AP investigation disclosed that the Pentagon is spending at least $4.7 billion this year on “influence operations” and has more than 27,000 employees devoted to such activities. . . .

The Associated Press’s special report on Pentagon “influence operations” can be read here. The Pentagon’s Public Affairs Office has been one of the last redoubts of the Neoconservatives. Burrowed Bush era figures remain in key positions in the office, which had responsibility for implementation of some of the Rumsfeld Pentagon’s most controversial strategies in which the American public was targeted with practices previously associated with battlefield psy-ops. Pentagon uses battlefield psy-ops on us

[Broken link on the source page: "The Associated Press’s special report on Pentagon “influence operations” can be read here." The correct link is as follows:
AP Report]

"LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Bush administration turned the U.S. military into a global propaganda machine..."

What kind of stagecraft could Industrial Light and Magic produce with those resources? Who are the influence operators, and what are they up to right now?

to engage Birthers in this discussion. Anything that refutes their theory is immediately dismissed as another lie, forgery or the person presenting it is in on the conspiracy. It is utterly useless to even bother with this Tinfoil Hat Brigade.

All you have to do is look at the leadership at the helm of this theory. These people have some of the most dubious backgrounds out there, and so their credibility is greatly diminished at the start.

But the real masterpiece was Israel's made for TV 6 day War. Wag the dog - no shit.

When it comes to the art&science of deceit, Israel is in a class all by themselves. Enjoy the fraud, they fool no one but themselves.

President Nader

I'm starting to think the Birthers are on to something here. This is the most powerful position in the world after all! We should have the strictist standards possible in this case. Obama had a Kenyan father? Throw his votes out and whoever came in second should be the President. John McCain? Wait he was born in Panama! Throw his votes out too. Who came in third?

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you President Ralph Nader! I like the sound of that!

And that's the notion that internet articles are unreliable, and that they pander to conspiracy freaks. That's also true of the mainstream media (like Fox News). Some information, exp. that related to Wall Street can only be gotten on the internet.

It Worked for Glenn Beck

Beck was on CNN and now he has his own hugely influential show on FOX. Looks as if Lou Dobbs is a jealous wannabee.

You cannot overestimate the paranoid ideation on the far-right side of our world. They are all over townhall.com insisting not only that Obama is Kenyan but that the 2008 vote was rigged by ACORN; that Obama is training special forces to invade American homes to confiscate guns; that Obamacare will mandate abortion, vaccination, and euthanasia; and much more. Just this morning somebody posted that it's really Michelle Obama who is calling the shots. The minute some looney tune says this stuff, a dozen others bounce off the creation repeating it with new and better variations.

Last night Chris Matthews interviewed G Gordon Liddy on the birth certificate issue. No matter what proof Matthews presented that Obama was born in Hawaii, Liddy came up with a counter-argument, eg Matthews showed the newspaper birth announcement giving the Obama parents' street address in Honolulu, so Liddy said the parents published that information just so their son would be thought to be an American citizen even though he was "born in the slums of Kenya".

Their thinking processes are reminiscent of the psychiatric hospital patient who one day was very angry with her doctor. "You know what you did," she told him. "Last night you raped me." The doctor, thrown off base, responded, "But I was out of town last night!". "I know," she said, "You did it using radar and television".

They have an answer for everything.

I swear, with pols it always has to be about personality and celebrity. I know some of you are going to slap me for giving out Obama's middle name and even capitalizing it in anger in so many cases but I only did it because of his taking the issues all wrong in going with the GOP even at our expense similar to the way Saddam played along with the neocons even at the expense of his own people. But to make myself clear, I don't give a hoot about Obama's birth certificate. All I care is that he get anything done right ! And then you wonder why I'm proud I voted thrice for Nader !

As for Lou Dobbs, what does he know about immigrants? He supported "free" trade before he claimed to oppose them and said nothing about the US government collaborating with the Mexican government to ensure rightwing repressive regimes. Obrador was for fixing the economic mess in Mexico so that people wouldn't be pushed into desperately crossing the border while Calderon wasn't and guess who got to succeed Fox? Lou Dobbs can be fine with some things but his getting wacky on the wrong side of things makes me glad I don't bother to watch that fat slob. I can just read his stupid transcripts before deciding to go back and watch him if I ever think of going that route.

A Sickness of the Soul

For what it is worth, people like Dobbs, Beck, Savage and Limbaugh are suffering from a terminal illness of the human soul. I don't believe there is any hope they will ever rediscover their humanity (if, in fact, it was ever there to lose) and so there is little else I can do but ignore them.

What really concerns me are those in this country who DO listen to them without using whatever brains God or evolution gave them to critically think through their statements.

Once we lose the ability to be critical of what we hear and read (rightist, leftist, in-between) we place ourself upon the same road that these pundits have chosen and our reward will also be a terminal illness of the soul.

We are talking about prejudice, clear and simple. When people are campaigning how often do we hear them talk about thier parents who came from another country and who worked on making it as in immigrant in a new country. Obama is black, his parent came from Africa, therefore he is suspect of not being born here when we have the records to prove that he is. They have torn apart his middle name and now his birth; this is prejudice, this is because he is black. If he were white with European ancestry this would not be happening.

He constantly promotes rumours and hearsay. And when he gets caught in a lie he never cops to it.

What about his insistence that North America was moving towards a Mexico/Canada/USA single political entity with its own currency?

His insistence that illegals from Mexico were causing a surge in cases of leprosy (Hanson's disease) which was completely untrue as there hasn't been any proportional increases since the 70's with increase of improved sanitation... and that leprosy itself isn't easily transmittable. When confronted with the facts Dobbs never issued a retraction.
Anything to make his case against latin people's. Considering some of the known far right white racists that he's hosted on his show this hardly seems surprizing.
Facts never really seem to bother Dobbs.
Now he's pushing his latest fav conspiracy du jour... 'the birther' thing.
Dunno why the whole birther story seems to smack of sour grapes and sore losers.
They're either pissed that McCain or Ron Paul didn't win the presidency.... or to break it down to its deepest level... that the presidency didn't get won by anyone white.
I know.
Some people are going to be pissed off I said that but I'm just judging by the comments and avatars of the NOBama people I know or have come acrossed. For the ones to whom race is no issue they seem to be overshadowed by the volume of those to whom it is.
And btw, folk... World Net Daily and Infowars are NOT reliable news sources.

Or has the "mainstream media" in the last 15 years or so completed the transition from more-or-less responsible news organizations to the circus side shows we have today? Half the time, when I watch what passes for "news" today – especially on cable – I can't tell whether I've tuned in on news & commentary, a television version of "Through the Looking Glass," or "One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest."

My God, how far we have fallen from rationality, and how abyssmally little we will settle for in the way of intelligence, or even common sense in our public media. I have crawled around on this mortal coil for more than six decades; and never until the last few years have I witnessed such an embarrassing spectacle as what passes for mainstream "news" and "expert opinions" these days. Good heavens, the lies and stupidities I hear today wouldn't have been attempted by a six-year-old 20 years ago!

We can only be thankful that some more intelligent race of beings isn't here to witness the embarrassment of our headlong rush to return to primative primate status – or, maybe they are, but have the good sense to stay out of sight, and just pick off a few of us for examination to try to figure out the nature of our malfunction, meanwhile broadcasting back to their home planet the hours and hours of our silly little foibles and peccadillos. Must make for some terrific comedy there ....

Most of the wing-nuts are bible thumpers.
What about one of the big ten? "Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor."
Of course they are firm in their delusion so in their mind there is no sin. Remind them that their God knows the truth so they better get it right or suffer the consequences of sin. Hell must be getting crowded with rethugnicans, due to war mongering, torturers, fornicators, and the list goes on. Family values indeed.

Just another poorly researched and opinionated AlterNet article that does no favors for Democrats
Posted by: CharlesRoland on Jul 25, 2009 4:44 AM
Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
As usually, here is another article from AlterNet that is opinionated and poorly researched. It does no favors for supporters of Obama and it puts no dent in the "birther conspiracy".
Does anyone recall that many Dems were questioning Obama's birth credentials during the primaries? And just as many right wingers questioned __ regarding his birth in Panama. This is in no way a partisan issue. ABC just did a story on the issue in prime time, although it did apparently support the presidents explanation (would you expect anything more from ABC's Nightly News?)
This is a legitimate issue. It's terrific that American's from all walks of life are paying attention to our Constitution.
And here's an interesting tid-bit...
the writer of this article, Eric Boheunalert, apparently thinks anyone who questions the governments 9/11 story is a loon. Well Mr. Unalert, in case you haven't been paying attention there are probably more left wing Americans questioning the governments story about the issue. It's completely wrong to single out Lou Dobbs as the sole national commentator questioning the governments possible cover-up of what really happened during 9/11.

AlterNet is just as lefty-loon as the right-wing-nuts they are trying to dismiss. It makes no sense to bash ultra right wingers if you are going to be just as extreme on your side. Besides, many of the issues that AlterNet claims are partisan are not. Immigration is the most obvious example. Even major news outlets have recognized that the problem of illegal aliens is something that concerns people on both sides of the political ideology.
Maybe AlterNet cannot afford to pay legitimate journalists or maybe it makes it's money by advertising to people on the super far left, but as a source of progressive news reporting this site fails. I have an extreme open mind and appreciate both sides of the political fence. Intelligent dialogue always triumphs over name calling and character bashing.
When it comes to important issues such as our Constitution, illegal immigration, racial issues, war, environment, etc., AlterNet should take a more journalistic and responsible approach.

This country is in a very uncomfortable position. What next?
Posted by: donnal on Jul 25, 2009 9:20 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
What if Mr. Obama does not have Constitutional eligibility to be the President? Media Matters and other MSM outlets are doing their best to criticize those who are asking some tough questions on this issue, why is this? If MSM would have actually done their jobs before Mr. Obama won the election we would not be having this challenge to the Constitution.

The disbelief, rage and surprise of those here who are showing their despair about questions of his citizenship, reveal how little they understand or know of the Constitution. If more had knowledge of the Constitution and the law, they may have seen that Obama may not have the eligibility to be President.

Mr.Obama has openly provided information that if one knew the Constitution would have questioned his eligiblity during the campaign. His claim to be a citizen under the 14th amendment, his admission that he was born with dual citizenship, his Kenyan father, and his adoption in Indonesia, are what we should be debating, not his birth certificate.

The number of people involved in keeping this information from being discussed should make one wonder, why they do not want to answer, is Mr. Obama a "natural born citizen"?

G. Gordon Liddy, Nixon Era Conspirator

Current rating: 1    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
It's really sickening what the GOP are using to defame President Obama. G. Gordon Liddy is a convicted conspirator from the Nixon era. Watergate burgler. He is 78 years old and barely coherent. And he appeared on "Hardball" this last week supporting the attack on Obama's birth certificate. It was a sad sad thing and Mathews did his best to show Liddy that Obama's birth certificate is real by presenting the original copy of it. Whether drugged or deep into dementia, Liddy could not comprehend that he was seeing the real thing. Sad Republican usury of a sorry old man.

"Conspiracytheorists "vs. Dobbs
Posted by: Cole... on Jul 25, 2009 12:52 PM
Current rating: 1    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
First, I have to fight off the concept of 'Conspiracy Theory' suggested in this article as something being formulated by lunatics on the fringe. And second, that this Dobbs stuff is part of any 'conspiracy theory'.

Dobbs is a nutcase all by himself, made worse by his now association with the 'birthers'. This another example of grabbing an issue out of the air and squacking about it. With enough bogus airtime it 'may' draw attention.

In my view Obama called on this non-issue himself by what? By refusing to look into the potholes in the road behind which were left by the mess created by the past 8 years. In essence he gave a pass to those who made the mess and gave them the freedom they 'hoped' for--the freedom to continue doing as they have done and here they are doing more.

The questions about 'what happened and why on 911' are the potholes, and the lunatics are not those who want legitimate answers to so much left in 'secret land', the lunatics are those who participated. failed to prevent, failed to act, failed to investigate, failed to find cause, and then used those failures to launch us into an illegal/immoral/costly invasions. At the same time they kept the humm of Govt cannot do anything right they gave us the hometown mess in NOLA as proof of that.

So now they are attacking Obama on the nonissue of this certificate which was answered by the Govt officials in Hawaii--and Dobbs. the lunatic stirs the pot.

I have had it with even "alternative" journalists talking as though the official 9/11 story is a forgone conclusion and that anyone who believes otherwise is a cook. Quite the contrary. The initial shock is over. You have had eight years to look into it. No more excuses for your lack of investigative reporting. Thanks for helping to advance the Big Brother agenda with your unwillingness to look at the facts. Sure, Bush and Cheney lied about everything; except 9/11. That one they got right.

It doesn't matter where she was when she gave birth, if his father was Barrack Obama Sr., who was not a citizen, Mr. Obama is not "natural born" period.

Some are doing there best to blur the defintion of citizen and "natural born citizen". Please, read and do the research for yourself, the President must be "natural born", so if he does not have both parents who were citizens at his birth, he is not 'natural born" period.

Both sides are totally stupid. Do you dumb asses actually believe what you are saying? You are the kind of people that would hang a man purely on circunstantial evidence. Obama could never have been president without a legitimate birth certificate and GW Bush could not get away with orchestrating 9/11. You all are just hurting inside because things have happened that needs to be blamed on someone. The 9/11 disaster was terrible. Were the democrats asleep while the republicans were planning this? We have a psychological need to blame someone every time we lose our loved ones. Or when things don't go the way we want. 9/11 happened because someone was sleeping on watch. The liberals are accusing the republicans only because the repubs, were in charge. But we had no democrats in any security positions, did we? You know nothing about your govt. so what gives you the right to accuse anyone? Our govt. is much too complex for a handful of republicans to bring it down. Remember watergate? Which brings us to Lou Dobbs and his criminal cronies. I see he is hanging out with on of the worst.(Liddy)Republicans do have a criminal background. That's why the democrats have watchdogs to prevent them from getting away with so much crime. I have to have a legitimate birth certificate to get a drivers license and you are telling me that I don't need one to be president of the greatest nation on earth. You all sound like a bunch of traitors because you are telling the world that we are incompetent. I know you republicans are mad because we now have a democrat for president. Get over it. Looking at the way your party is acting, it may be a lot of years before you get another chance. And you 9/11 conspiracy theorists need to get a life. This started with two punk kids on the internet with nothing better to do. We need to move ahead as a united people and each and everyone of us needs to accept responsibility. Stop crying when things don't go your way. If you think the worst of someone, you must have a guilty conscience. Thought: "Bush could have gotten away with 9/11, but Clinton couldn't get away with getting a blowjob!" And now you're saying that a black man with no birth certificate stole the hardest job on earth.Duuuhh!

The whole birther point is mute. You are automatically a US citizen by jus soli (by soil), being born in the US or by jus sanguinis (by blood). Only one parent of US citizenship is necessary to establish natural born citizenship. Whether he was born in the US (which he obviously was) or not does not matter. No one disputes that his mother was a US citizen making Obama a US citizen by blood.

Is it really THAT hard for Obama to post a real birth cert? I voted for Obama and don't consider myself a birther or anything, but it's pretty insulting to the American people that he can't answer a simple request after months of people complaining about it. Makes me start to wonder, is there something for him to hide?

Seems like Obama is in WAAYYY over his head if he can't answer simple requests like this.

so if he would ONLY give us the sequence (Certificate) number from 1961 it would prove or disprove if he was a citizen of the U.S., Correct?

Lets say his certificate ended in the number 546. There would be someone else who was issued the number 545 on the same day or near it. There would be someone issued 547 on the same or following day. This places undisputable evidence on the table.

Unless, and I'm just saying. Someone else has 545. Then you have a problem. And I would NOT want to be the guy that has it.

You know what, that would make a great novel. Think I'll get started on it now.

We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples we have studied of the dust produced by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Examination of four of these samples, collected from separate sites, is reported in this paper. These red/gray chips show marked similarities in all four samples. One sample was collected by a Manhattan resident about ten minutes after the collapse of the second WTC Tower, two the next day, and a fourth about a week later. The properties of these chips were analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The red material contains grains approximately 100 nm across which are largely iron oxide, while aluminum is contained in tiny plate-like structures. Separation of components using methyl ethyl ketone demonstrated that elemental aluminum is present. The iron oxide and aluminum are intimately mixed in the red material. When ignited in a DSC device the chips exhibit large but narrow exotherms occurring at approximately 430 °C, far below the normal ignition temperature for conventional thermite. Numerous iron-rich spheres are clearly observed in the residue following the ignition of these peculiar red/gray chips. The red portion of these chips is found to be an unreacted thermitic material and highly energetic.

There is more to this . . . and anyone with a brain in his head would realize that 911 would not have occurred without government complicity.

And it is not just about the birth document. It is about his school records, his Harvard records, the status of mother and father at the time of his birth. It is about his grand mothers allegation that he was, in fact, born in Kenya.

Alternet is financed by the Ford Foundation and a bunch of other globalist organizations. Of course they don't want an investigation into Obama or the Fed for that matter. Obama is their guy!!!

But whether he is a citizen, or not, one thing is becoming clear: he is not serving the interests of the American People. THAT is the bigger problem.

I predicted this outcome far before the election and now it appears that I am right on the money:

Curious Obama: Globalist Traitor
newagecitizen.com/Curious_Obama_Globalist_Traitor.htm

So whether he is a naturalized citizen is quite possibly the smaller question. The bigger question is whether he is a pawn for the Global Elite. And I would have to say the evidence is overwhelming.

Thankfully, Americans are waking up to that fact.

This whole issue is boring.
On Jan 21st, 2009 Barack Obama signed executive
order #13489 effectively limiting access to his
personal records and birth certificate, all of
which he does not wish us (U.S.) to see.
So called "birthers" simply want to see a true,
bona fide document. This is not just an issue of racism as suggested by the left wing pundits. It is an issue related to the LAW OF THE LAND, otherwise known as the CONSTITUTION.
Once we acquiesce to ignoring the law and denying our selves the right to know the truth,
then the country goes down.

Israel demands another Academy Award

this one for 'special effects'.

How many times are they going to blow-up the same bus? The one they wanted to ship around the World as if it were a museum artifact?

How many times are the 'rain of rockets' duds that are primarily fired w/in Israeli borders?

I may be upset with Obama on the issues but on this unproven stupid birther crap, I say butt out !

Prejudice

Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]

Damit Mr. President just show them your original birth certificate to shut them up! Better than spending millions of dollars defending against this. There's other problems to deal with.

AlterNet you suck for putting up these stupid stories instead of dealing with real solutions to real issues. You've been better lately but not good enough.

Posted by: zepher on Jul 25, 2009 12:20 PM
