Clint Eastwood's speech to an empty chair at the RNC has already spawned an InvisibleObama Twitter feed, a bunch of memes, and some hasty denials of responsibility from Romney, his campaign, and the Republican party.

But some conservatives think Eastwood was just great--and they're holding National Empty Chair Day (fittingly, on Labor Day) to let everyone know.  People tweeted pictures of empty chairs in different poses with the hashtag #emptychairday, and prominent conservative bloggers hyped the "celebration."

Michelle Malkin, predictably, helped start the party:

“It’s fun. It’s funny,” Malkin explained to POLITICO. “Clint Eastwood resonated with voters outside the snotty, derisive NY-DC-Hollywood axis. He braved derision and ridicule for standing on the convention stage. Activists on the right wanted to demonstrate … their appreciation. As always, humor is the best medicine.”

The Facebook page for Empty Chair Day (with 1777 likes as of this viewing) explains:

Set an empty chair on your front lawn Monday, September 3, 2012 to stand with Clint Eastwood and send a message that it's time for new leadership. Put a sign on it "we gotta let him go" or "we OWN this country" or whatever phrase in Clint's speech that struck a nerve with you. For more info, go to www.twitchy.com. Let's do this folks! Invite your friends. Post your ideas/pics of your chair, please keep it clean everyone!
