We Still Don't Know If Vaccines Are Safe

By Jim Carrey, Huffington Post. Posted April 24, 2009.

In all likelihood the truth about vaccines is that they are both good and bad. But we need to find out for sure.

Upcoming AlterNet stories on Digg

Recently, I was amazed to hear a commentary by CNN's Campbell Brown on the controversial vaccine issue. After a ruling by the 'special vaccine court' saying the Measles, Mumps, Rubella shot wasn't found to be responsible for the plaintiffs' autism, she and others in the media began making assertions that the judgment was in, and vaccines had been proven safe. No one would be more relieved than Jenny and I if that were true. But with all due respect to Ms. Brown, a ruling against causation in three cases out of more than 5000 hardly proves that other children won't be adversely affected by the MMR, let alone that all vaccines are safe. This is a huge leap of logic by anyone's standards. Not everyone gets cancer from smoking, but cigarettes do cause cancer. After 100 years and many rulings in favor of the tobacco companies, we finally figured that out.

The truth is that no one without a vested interest in the profitability of vaccines has studied all 36 of them in depth. There are more than 100 vaccines in development, and no tests for cumulative effect or vaccine interaction of all 36 vaccines in the current schedule have ever been done. If I'm mistaken, I challenge those who are making such grand pronouncements about vaccine safety to produce those studies.

If we are to believe that the ruling of the 'vaccine court' in these cases mean that all vaccines are safe, then we must also consider the rulings of that same court in the Hannah Polling and Bailey Banks cases, which ruled vaccines were the cause of autism and therefore assume that all vaccines are unsafe. Clearly both are irresponsible assumptions, and neither option is prudent.

In this growing crisis, we cannot afford to blindly trumpet the agenda of the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) or vaccine makers. Now more than ever, we must resist the urge to close this book before it's been written. The anecdotal evidence of millions of parents who've seen their totally normal kids regress into sickness and mental isolation after a trip to the pediatrician's office must be seriously considered. The legitimate concern they and many in the scientific community have that environmental toxins, including those found in vaccines, may be causing autism and other disorders (Aspergers, ADD, ADHD), cannot be dissuaded by a show of sympathy and a friendly invitation to look for the 'real' cause of autism anywhere but within the lucrative vaccine program.

With vaccines being the fastest growing division of the pharmaceutical industry, isn't it possible that profits may play a part in the decision-making? That the vaccine program is becoming more of a profit engine than a means of prevention? In a world left reeling from the catastrophic effects of greed, mismanagement and corporate insensitivity, is it so absurd for us to wonder why American children are being given twice as many vaccines on average, compared to the top 30 first world countries?

Paul Offit, the vaccine advocate and profiteer, who helped invent a Rotavirus vaccine is said to have paved the way for his own multi-million dollar windfall while serving on the very council that eventually voted his Rotavirus vaccine onto our children's schedule. On August 21, 2000 a congressional investigation's report titled, "Conflicts in Vaccine Policy," stated:

It has become clear over the course of this investigation that the VRBPAC and the ACIP [the two main advisory boards that determine the vaccine schedule] are dominated by individuals with close working relationships with the vaccine producers. This was never the intent of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which requires that a diversity of views be represented on advisory committees.

Isn't that enough to raise questions about the process of choosing the vaccine schedule?

With many states like Minnesota now reporting the number at 1 in 80 children affected with autism, can we afford to trust those who serve two masters or their logic that tells us "one size fits all" when it comes to vaccines? Can we afford to ignore vaccines as a possible cause of these rising numbers when they are one of the fastest growing elements in our children's environment? With all the doubt that's left hanging on this topic, how can anyone in the media or medical profession, boldly demand that all parents march out and give their kids 36 of these shots, six at a time in dosage levels equal to that given a 200 pound man? This is a bias of the most dangerous kind.

Why is Alternet publishing this nonsense. This is quack medicine at it worse Jim Carrey doesn't no what he is talking about. Leave alone the bad journalism, what Carrey McCarthy et al are doing is highly irresponsible and immoral. I come from India, a country which is still trying to eradicate Polio -- a disease easily preventable via vaccination. Please, AlterNet, don't give anti-vaccination nonsense a voice here.

If we were being honest, that is what his biographical note would say. For people like him, an infinitesimal risk of autism is worse than a much a greater risk of death from measles or any other contagious disease. In other words, he believes that it's better to die than to live as an autistic.

I don't agree, and I'm on the spectrum. Granted, I'm one of those who people like Mr. Carrey often accuse of being insufficiently disabled to talk about it (though why, given that logic, neurotypicals make better advocates remains a mystery), but you wouldn't know that when I have a meltdown over improperly labeled doors.

When is Alternet going to stop publishing this sort of discriminatory work and start paying attention to neurodiversity and self-advocacy?

Very Poor
Posted by: CHD on Apr 24, 2009 2:14 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The main problem with this article is that it is shit stirring of the highest order with such wide ranging focus but very few specific claims that can be proven either way. But the overall theme of MMR causes autism and it hasn't been disproved is just plain wrong. It has, in the UK. By a number of studies.

The most compelling evidence is a study of patients diagnosed with autism during the period that MMR was introduced in the UK in the late 80s. Autism was seen to rise throughout the period but there was no spike increase in cases when MMR was introduced. There was no correlation between being vaccinated and the onset of autistic behaviours and no correlation between the age of vaccination and the age of diagnosis with autism.

Unfortunately because of just this type of irresponsible bad science reporting around ten years ago now a large number of people didn't get their kids vaccinated and the UK has seen a large increase in cases of measles. And measles cases can come with complications the most severe being death.

Perhaps Mr Carrey would like to provide the respite care for all those parents worldwide who are looking after kids suffering from the complications of measles.

What next for alternet a scare story on the thousands of people who die each year because of dihydrogen monoxide?

It's not the vaccine itself that is the problem
Posted by: Scipio09 on Apr 24, 2009 2:22 AM
Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Firstly, from what I have read it is not the vaccination as such that is problematic (i.e. the bacterial fragments, toxoids, or viral capsids), but additives like mercury compounds. This should not, then, raise doubts about the positive effects of vaccinations but about the quality of the vaccines that are actually used. Even a beneficial procedure may become harmful if the tools are substandard.

Secondly, I agree that dosage is a problem. Vaccinations may contain live bacteria or viruses, and the immune system of children may be overwhelmed even by weakened germs if the dosage is too strong. However, that too should not raise doubts about the benefit of vaccination but about the details of how the actual procedure is performed.

In both cases I would not put it past the point that business interests may be involved. After all, thoroughly purifying a sample of vaccine and checking to make sure the purification was successful is certainly more costly than producing a somewhat contaminated sample, or being less strict with testing. And smaller dosages may be too expensive to produce (though it is debatable how that expense should be calculated. A life is priceless, after all).

Millions of kids and parents say otherwise.
Posted by: Annarisse on Apr 24, 2009 3:44 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
It's unfortunate that so many would-be crunchy parents don't know their history well enough to realize that vaccines are far, far safer than the diseases they prevent - and that those diseases can, do, and have come back if vaccination levels fall below a certain vaccine uptake level - around 90%.

I'm a lay person who has put a lot of effort into understanding how vaccines work. Basically, a vaccine is a workout for your immune system; workouts make people stronger, not weaker. Even getting several shots at once doesn't overload an immune system.

I've collected a page of links here, for those interested in the opposite point of view. Furthermore, my two children are fully vaccinated because I'm not willing to mess with the herd immunity OR with their personal immunity. My grandmother would spin rapidly in her grave if I did - she lived through all her cousins dying of diphtheria and through lining her children up for those first vital (and unsafe) polio shots.

We are so lucky in the developed West to be able to discount what vaccines have done for our society, and take for granted the benefits they have brought. I'd rather take the tiny risk of the vaccine than the much greater risk of an outbreak leading to deaths of children or at-risk adults.

"MORE" IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER IN MEDICINE

Generally speaking,we took miracle concepts in medicine to excess

That is a typical American concept of more is always better. In medicine clearly it is not.

We need to back off of excesses in US medicine of meds, vaccines, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and surgeries to determine if we are harming people through excess.

While the uninsured often don't get the basics,(including basic vaccines)the insured (most of us) often get too much!

Of all the naysayers on here, almost no one to speaks to the points that Mr. Carrey makes, most notably the profit trail of those who make vaccines and those who decide what we will receive. Mr. Carrey speaks specifically about autism, but there are other issues as well. For example, there is no mandatory reporting for adverse reactions, and even an immediate reaction such as seizure or other neurological disturbance is not considered to necessarily have anything to do with a vaccination (just because it is temporally related can apparently mean nothing to the CDC). There are serious issues regarding vaccines and the question of autism is, unfortunately, one of many. Too bad Alternet readers have such closed minds. I didn't expect that.

Specious nonsense, bad journalism
Posted by: Printanor on Apr 24, 2009 5:27 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The power of the press is not serving the public on this issue, because voices on one 'side' are given undue prominence suggesting that there is a real debate here, or that scientists are divided about vaccines causing autism. They are not. As with climate change denial, the suggestion that we need a 'balanced debate' misrepresents the true picture. Huffington, and Alternet should think very carefully about their responsibility here.

As for the author: "anecdotal evidence ... must be seriously considered"?

What Carrey is saying is that anecdotal evidence must be considered as undermining or even trumping the findings of proper scientific research. This is nonsense and it is dangerous nonsense.

Those who are concerned about vaccines and those who think they are really safe appear to be looking at the issue too narrowly.

The issue is not just autism. The big issue that people are overlooking is what I discovered doing research on another matter. Take Gardisil for instance. Gardisil claims to vaccinate against a number of forms of the hpv virus. Many of the hpv viruses do no physical harm. Those viruses could could be there for a reason, we don't know. What if they are there to keep the bad viruses in check?

If those types of viruses are prevented from taking hold in the body, do we risk the bad viruses from mutating to a stronger strain that cannot be easily killed or treated? The answer is, we don't know and we should know.

Another example is Chicken Pox vaccines. This is not ordinarily a life threatening illness, but like all illnesses under the right circumstances could be. The same with other childhood diseases. The question is, does having the chicken pox or other childhood disease help the body build a strong immune system for future assaults of stronger diseases, cancer, autoimmune issues? The answer is we don't know and we should know.

We do know that adults who lack of exposure to children with chicken pox are more likely to get a worse case of shingles later in life. That is exactly why they had to create a vaccine for shingles. Now we are seeing very bad cases of chicken pox in children who have had 1 or 2 doses of the vaccine already. Could it be because we cannot vaccinate against all herpes viruses that we are now seeing the virus mutate and get stronger? There is a good argument that this is what is happening. This could be potentially very dangerous. But since we don't know, because we rely on the industry to do studies. We may never know unless we pressure the government to begin a number of independent studies.

Are we doing more long term harm to the body by trying to vaccinate against any possibility of getting sick? After spending quite a bit of time researching this issue, I think there is a good case to be made to slow down and find the answers to these questions before hopping on the vaccinate for everything train.

These issues need to be researched by the government as part of a bigger health policy for the country.

The religon of vaccines
Posted by: snowhound on Apr 24, 2009 5:58 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
How dare someone question the holy grail of medicine. How could anyone ever believe that vaccines could be neurodegenerative diseases in our children?? It's lunacy to believe that formaldehyde, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, thimerosal, and polysorbate 80, ammonium sulfate, aluminum hydroxide, benzethonium chloride, glycerin, and phenol -a (compound obtained by distillation of coal tar), monosodium L-glutamate (MSG), potassium chloride, potassium phosphate monobasic, potassium phosphate dibasic, and many others ingredients in these vaccines could ever cause a negative reaction in a new born baby. How could animal by products like hydrolized gelatin, chick embryo, vesicle fluid from calf skins, chick embryonic fluid, mouse serum proteins, monkey kidney cells and fetal lung cells, and many others ever be a problem when injected into a new born baby. It is a known fact..yes it's scientific fact that when you vaccinate an animal, the brain microglia immune cells turn on partially (called priming), that is, they are in a state of high readiness. If the immune system is activated again soon after (days, weeks to months), these microglia explode into action secreting levels of their destructive chemicals far higher than normal. This overreaction can be very destructive and make you feel very depressed.
Stimulating the immune system with a vaccine is far different than contracting an infectious illness naturally. Vaccines are made of two components -- the agent you wish to vaccinate against -- for example, the measles virus; and an immune system booster called an immune adjuvant. These adjuvants are composed of such things as aluminum compounds, MSG, lipid compounds and even mercury. Their job is to make the immune system react as intensely as possible and for as long as possible.
Studies have shown that these adjuvants, from a single vaccine, can cause immune overactivation for as long as two years. This means that the brain microglia remain active as well, continuously pouring out destructive chemicals. In fact, one study found that a single injection of an immune activating substance could cause brain immune overactivation for over a year. So, bottom line is that vaccinating a child should be an informed choice!!

The new luxury of not protecting your child from vaccine-preventable illness largely rests on the assumption that almost everyone else will, thus preventing the likelihood of transmission of infectious disease. The protection afforded to populations and individuals by most vaccines vastly outweighs the risk, in most cases

Your reliance on everyone else to protect you, however, only works until you faith-basers reach a certain population density in a given area. Once herd immunity is compromised sufficiently, Darwinian forces do what Darwinian forces always do to folks who disadvantage themselves/their offspring early in life.

This article was an insertion of yellow journalism into the realm of public health and science. Side effects include indigestion and nausea.

Very uninformed about "environmental" damage to children
Posted by: blakelight on Apr 24, 2009 7:41 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Vaccination is one of the oldest medical techniques in the world. I agree that the "vaccine pushing" of Gardasil was hasty, exploitative, and sexist (anything that Texas governor Rick Perry supports is suspect)--but it has spooked parents into falsely thinking that they have control over "our children's environment" and that they are smarter than scientists and doctors. What about all the toxins in our air and water? The inestimable waste products of industry, heavy metals, pthalates, pharmaceuticals, sometimes in the air and water from OTHER COUNTRIES is something the author seems to be in complete denial about--seems a greater immediate threat to the health of the children of the world than the preservatives in a small amount of vaccine. Not to mention the unnatural delivery of children for convenience by artificial induction (cervical dilator, Pitocin--small dosage errors are highly correlated with brain damage or death) and caesarian; permanent neurological damage is often created in the crucial moments of birth, not to mention the genetic and environmental exposures of parents, who are delaying childbirth and accumulating even more germ-cell mutations as the environment we live in becomes increasingly toxic.

The vaccine panic is creating the single biggest bioethical crisis facing our world today. Infectious diseases are a GLOBAL problem. Is it right to selfishly choose not to vaccinate your child, putting the rest of the world (who may not be able to afford vaccines) at risk to the resurgence of nearly extinct diseases--and the possible strengthening of their morbidity? Your child, or the people of the world? Even if your child is injured or sickened by the vaccine, don't you care about all the children/adults who may be sickened if your child exposes them to the disease?

I had measles when I was a child and developed bacterial meningitis as a consequence--a savvy recent immigrant doctor had seen this before--but my small-town physician just kept recommending baby aspirin. I was lucky, but could have been brain damaged, paralyzed or worse than anything putatively ascribed (autism causality has been disproven) to a vaccine injury. My best friend's sister died as a toddler after languishing in the hospital for years after her birth, because her mother contracted German measles while pregnant; she was deaf and dumb. These diseases are no joke.

Not all vaccinations are as miraculous as polio, smallpox, and MMR. Polio is resurging because we are not sustaining the vaccination campaign in undeveloped countries. Our "herd immunity" has no national borders now; it is global. When your unvaccinated child contracts polio or measles--should they survive--they are going to hate your guts, not to mention the inestimable population who they infect.

Vaccines are by and far the most tested, the most studied and some of the most effective medicines used in the world. It has been proven time and again by study after study they are not just safe but save lives.

Literally hundreds die a year in the US because they have not been vaccinated and succumb to diseases that they should have been protected from and it's mostly because of irresponsible 'reporting' like this article.

would be the first to be beating the drums against vaccinations if they were in fact causing as much disease as the writer believes.

"The anecdotal evidence of millions of parents who've seen their totally normal kids regress into sickness and mental isolation after a trip to the pediatrician's office...".

If this were reality, it would be costing health insurance companies literally billions of dollars (think $1000 each times 2 million kids = $2 billion, at minimum), and these companies would be screaming bloody murder at the destruction of their precious profits. They aren't.

It shows that there WAS a cover-up regarding immunizations.

It's pretty shocking, but then again it seems that EVERYTHING that happens in this country is ALWAYS in favor of "big money" & to hell with everyone else, no matter what the consequences may be!

ALTERNET needs to filter out unprovable "true believer" anti-technology conspiracy theories-- not to mention the ever-increasing amount of titillating sex and entertainment gossip--and give us REAL news, a la TRUTHOUT. And make sure your writers' heads are on tight. To make reasonable decisions we need research and rationality, not hearsay and second-hand testimonials.

Didn't this writer ever wonder why longevity in Western nations is greater now than it was even 73 years ago, when I was born? Vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, whooping cough, polio, flu and pneumonia, saving children's and seniors' lives, is one reason. Want a testimonial--at first-hand? In 1939, at the age of three, I nearly died from diphtheria, which incapacitated me for almost a year while recovering. I'm lucky I survived and bounced back healthy. When my son was born almost 38 years ago I MADE SURE he received all the infancy vaccines, including the one against diphtheria. While an infant, crawling around on cold floors in an unheated 18th century New York State farmhouse, he had a lingering cold which resulted in a tonsillectomy. After that--no more colds until age 17, and only one mild bout of flu. He's still remarkably healthy.

Thirty-eight years ago, Big Pharma was a monster in its infancy. Medications were tested scientifically for years under multiple, separate 7-year double blind studies (which rule out most placebo-based wishful thinking) before marketing. That is no longer true, but let's improve the situation rationally, not stupidly! The answers are to (1) establish socialized medicine in this country so people CAN get their necessary meds and vaccines, (2) use anti-monopoly laws and break up Big Pharma into smaller companies, and (3) set up strict Congressional rules disallowing in-house studies. Constant kowtowing to New Age nonsense is self defeating and makes me wonder about hidden agendas.

P.S. It is the PRESERVATIVE that is used in the vaccines that is DANGEROUS, it's called THIRMERISAL. Involved in the cover-up is the CDC & WHO. The report that was made available to the public WAS FALSE! They HID the REAL report!

Jim Carrey has absolutely no standing to be making claims such as these. Neither does Jenny McCarthy. Like all too many entertainers, they have made the mistake of thinking that their professional experience in entertainment somehow qualify them to make pronouncements about other fields.

When they have the professional chops to back up their statements, I'll give their opinions some weight. Right now, they have no standing to make the comments they're making.

Tell that to my maternal grandmother, and the little brother she had to care for all her life because measles literally fried his brain when he was only 6 years old.

And tell that to my mother as well, who nearly suffered the same fate in 1963 when she was 9, but didn't because my grandmother refused to let history repeat itself.

In both cases she would've done anything to have had both children vaccinated before hand.

Believe me, I feel pitty for the families suffering with autism. But it is most likely caused by genetic mutation; or possibly an infectious agent. Vaccines have been studies extensively, and if they caused autism, many more of us who were vaccinated at or near childbirth would be autists, and we would have found the causative agent in the vaccines by now. Vaccines are safe for children and adults.

What is not safe is letting Mumps, Measels or Rubella run through our populations freely. Humans increasingly live in high density neighborhoods. We work and study and travel in common spaces. This makes it easier for epidemics to occur.

The reason people are no longer afraid of these diseases is because they have not seen the devastation they can cause. Take rubella: it causes still births and death of the mother during pregnancy and childbirth. Next time one of your neighbors tells you they and their children are not vaccinated, RUN AWAY! (and make sure you've kept up with your boosters. Talk to you doctor.)

Disgusting to think that spreading disease is a "choice". I am usually for freedom of choice above all, but in the case of vaccines, they must be required for public schools, or we run the risk of spreading very bad diseases throughout the population.

After reading these comments, there seems to be a division between those for whom these diseases are still a living memory (pro-vaccine) and those whom these diseases have not impacted in a personal way (anti-vaccine)...

AUTISM

A study of over 500,000 Danish children found no increased risk of autism in children receiving the MMR vaccine compared to children not receiving it. If you can't see an effect when the sample size is that large, it either isn't there or it's irrelevant for all practical purposes:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12421889

SEIZURES

Among parents suspecting that vaccines caused seizure disorders in their children, 11 times out of 14 it was the case that the children had mutations in a gene encoding sodium channels. These were often spontaneous mutations that neither parent had. Vaccines do not change genetic makeup, so the mutations aren't attributable to vaccines, if that's what you're thinking:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16713920

The anti-vaccine people keep moving the goalposts. First, it was the mercury-containing preservative in the vaccines. That was never demonstrated, and the preservative is no longer used. Then it was the vaccines themselves, and there's no evidence for that. Now it's nebulous "interactions among 36 vaccines." How long until it's "the evilness of the corporation is a spiritual force that's passed along with the vaccine and harms the child's chi flow?"

We have enough problems in the world without rich Californian housewives led by Jenny McCarthy trying to set public health back 100 years.

Gov't Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund

There is a list of GOVERNMENT ACKNOWLEDGED vaccine injuries at
http://www.hrsa.gov/vaccinecompensation/covered_vaccines.htm

The government position is that vaccines help more people than they hurt, so they are willing to pay for 'certain' known side effects. Vaccines are not 100% for 100% of kids, just as most medication is targeted at white males with very little testing of women and children (if at all!). It is outrageous that Campbell-Brown did no research before offering her uninformed opinion.

There is huge anecdotal evidence of demylenating reaction to Hepatitis B vaccine online, and this is even posted at the WHO and CDC websites regarding info on vaccines needed for travel. Yet, in California, newborn infants are given the Hep B vaccine at birth. Educate yourselves before you allow vaccinations. They can be deadly.

MMR Vaccine Safety
Posted by: SanDiego97 on Apr 24, 2009 5:17 PM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
We discussed safety of MMR Vaccine in a class recently and looked at the scientific data. It is very compelling. For example, in 2002 Danish researches examined vaccine records of >500,000 children and found the risk of autism was similar in vaccinated and unvaccinated children and that neither autistic disorder nor other autistic-spectrum disorders were associated with MMR vaccination. Numerous other similar studies from around the world, including from California, have been published. In contrast, the original paper by Wakefield et al., in 1998 claiming a link between MMR vaccine and autisms had as its lead author a doctor who at the time was also involved with litigation claiming damages from MMR vaccination-- ie he clearly had a conflict of interest and in fact 10 of the 13 original authors on that paper later published a retraction from that paper. While all the available evidence indicates MMR is NOT associated with autism, we DO know the consequences of measles and rubella. In poorer countries where measles vaccination in still not widespread, measles is the a leading cause of death among young children with ~200,000 children dying from measles in 2007 (was 750,000 in year 2000 but greatly reduced due to vaccination efforts by the WHO and others) and is still a leading cause of blindness amongst children in Africa. Rubella infections in pregnant women lead to significant chances of severe birth defects in the fetus and is an important cause of birth defects around the world. For example, prior to Rubella vaccination programs in the US as many as 1% of all the children born in cities like Philadelphia during the Rubella epidemic of 1964-65 suffered from congenital Rubella. This is why the court ruled in favor of MMR vaccination-- the known consequences of these viral diseases far outweighs the known consequences of vaccination.

Science is good - I work at a major university & wouldn't have a job without it. That being said - the same FDA that is approving your drugs has brought us the poison that we know as NutraSweet: http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_16871.cfm

Until the FDA is cleaned up and reorganized I will question every vaccine or drug I am advised to take, and I would advise everyone to do the same. Especially with your children

Herd immunity & will you take moral and legal responsibilty for your advice?
- Herd immunity means we all have to be immunised. To ignore this in the article is misleading. Not immunizing has real wide-ranging potential negative effects.
- The scare chemical analysis is inappropriate: so compounds have scary sounding ingredients (mercury say). So does my teeth. It's not the elements alone that is significant, it's the compounds they form that are important.
- I think Jim Carrey is sincere in these beliefs, and although doubt and curiosity are admirably scientific, it's misplaced in this case. He needs to think it through more, and get wider expert advice. Is he willing to take moral and legal responsibility for his medical advice? If people listen to this then many will suffer - needlessly: all due to his ill informed misunderstanding of this biochemistry.

It is disturbing how unscientific medical professionals sound when confronted with these issues. I come away from hearing their pathetic defensive stances thinking that they really have no idea what they're doing with these pharmaceuticals at all. Yeah it gets them some nice gifts from the pharmaceutical industry, but they really don't care what they're injecting into our children. If they cannot even face these simple facts, it makes me wonder what other issues they cannot grasp (for intellectual or business reasons or whatever).

Here we have the DEMS always needing a bigger shovel for the level of UTOPIAN propaganda they want to throw at the UNSUSPECTING PUBLIC.

wanna? know the latest??? Michael moore made a progpaganda film where they attempt to bamboozle the PUBLIC by claiming CUBA'S healthcare is better than the USA ....and that the USA should go to the CUBAN model for healthcare.

WANNA KNOW??? what the reality is and whaaat they are really HIDING... the reality is in CUBA people have to BEG FROM TOURISTS for allergy inhalers and aspirin. You can bet if Americans are allowed to be bamboozled into Socialist healthcare DEMS will make SURE USA is WORSE OFF than CUBA.

According to the new stimulus if your child needs antibiotics and the GOV only wants to give them Asprin or NOTHING guess whaaat they will get ASPIRIN or NOTHING.

Whats worse.. if your/adult/child are X percent sick they ARE LEFT TO DIE.

Soc healthcare is MORE expensive AND gives NO HEALTHCARE. We are no scholar, but you don't need to be a scholar to SEE whaaat is wrong with the DEMS scenario.

DEMS LIED to claim our healthcare system is broken. SOCIALIST HEALTHCARE is MORE EXPENSIVE and gives NO HEALTHCARE.

PEOPLE, OUR MARKET BASED HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD. Why, sure it's not perfect. BUT THE SHORTCOMINGS it faces such as high cost of drugs and insurance---are in part THE results of the inroads the SOCIALISTS AND LIBERALS have already made into our market based health care system.

THE REAL SOLUTION TO fixing HEALTHCARE ISN'T to make UNCLE SAME/DEMS your doctor ....BUT to GIVE YOU THE PUBLIC MORE CHOICE.

ALLOWING the DEMS socialize healthcare not only would prove expensive but DEADLY. Think about it?? DEMS WANT TO SPEND MORE MONEY BUT DENY PUBLIC the meds and services it needs while GOV POCKETS THE CASH TO SPEND ON PORK.

don't ALLOW yourselves to be put off seek LEGISLATIVE and LEGAL ACTION TO KICK STIMULUS OUT AND BAILOUT.
