Right-Wing Turncoat Gives the Inside Scoop on Why Conservatives Are Rampaging Town Halls

The GOP is willing to disrupt the health care debate if they can't win it. Yesterday in Tampa, a mob of Glenn Beck supporters nearly caused a riot.

The Lobbyist-run Groups "Americans for Prosperity " and "FreedomWorks/ Dick Armey-Orchestrated Memo:

Here is a leaked excerpt from the folks organizing the intimidation campaign:

    - Artificially Inflate Your Numbers: "Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up. The Rep should be made to feel that a majority, and if not, a significant portion of at least the audience, opposes the socialist agenda of Washington."

    - Be Disruptive Early And Often: "You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep's presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep's statements early."

    - Try To "Rattle Him," Not Have An Intelligent Debate: "The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down. Look for these opportunities before he even takes questions."

The Last Republican Tactic: Outright Lies

A barrage of outright lies, wherein the Democrats are being accused of wanting to launch a massive euthanasia program against the elderly, free abortions for everyone, and "a government takeover" of health-care is now being combined with physical intimidation that in several cases has required police escorts to protect pro health-care reform speakers surrounded by angry plants sent to disrupt public forums on the health-care issue.
Demonstrators hung Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD) in effigy outside of his office. (Missing from the reporting of these stories -- with the notable exception of Rachel Maddow -- is the fact that much of these protests are coordinated by public relations firms and lobbyists who have a stake in opposing President Obama's reforms.

There is no daylight between the Republican Party, the health-care insurance industry, far right leaders like Dick Armey, the legion of insurance lobbyists, and now, a small army of  thugs. All we're missing is actual uniforms, otherwise we now have a full blown American version of the Nazi Brown Shirts.

No, I don't believe that these people are about to take over the country. No, the sky is not falling. But the Republican Party is. It is now profoundly anti-American.

The health-insurance industry is run by very smart and very greedy people who have sunk to a new low.  So has the Republican Party's leadership that will not stand up and denounce the likes of Dick Armey for helping organize roving bands of thugs trying to strip the rest of us of the ability to be heard when it comes to the popular will on reforming health care.

Conclusion: the Fascist Formula

Here's the emerging American version of the fascist's formula: combine millions of dollars of lobbyists' money with embittered  troublemakers  who have a small army of not terribly bright white angry people (collected over decades through pro-life mass mailing networks) at their beck and call, ever ready to believe any myth or lie circulated by the semi literate and completely and routinely misinformed right wing -- Evangelical religious underground. Then put his little mob together with the insurance companies' big bucks. That's how it works -- American Brown Shirts at the ready.

What's the results of the fascist formula for the rest of us? Well, think how this "method" worked against Dr. Tiller's abortion clinic and how that story ended. In this case a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to save our economy from going bankrupt because of spiraling health care costs may be lost, not because of a better argument, but because of lies backed up by anti-democratic embittered thuggery. The motive? Revenge on America by the Old White Guys of the far right, and greed by the insurance industry.

What Can Be Done?

It's time that this whole shabby (and insane) business be exposed, vilified in run out of town on a rail by whatever responsible Republicans -- if any -- that are still in the party and who want to see the fortunes of their party revived. Republican leaders taking insurance industry money via lobbying firms and using it to organize what amounts to roving bands of thugs not only need to be exposed but thrown out of the public debate forever.  They should become absolute pariahs.

It's time to give this garbage a name: insurance industry funded fascism.

We know it.

When you see these ppl, and hear them speak, it is very evident they are genetictically defective.

We've often joked on Alternet about what makes them the way they are. Is it genetic we've asked? Alternet has posted articles about it. Is there a genetic dif between dems and rethugs?

There is, the genetic puzzle is solved. Clearly too much in-breeding.

Brown Shirt Fascism vs White Collar Fascism

Yep, the right wing is practicing is usual thuggery ... but the author is wrong ... it began long ago. One has only to remember the Brooks Brothers Suit riots in Dade county in 2000.

So what we have is Obama's White Collar Fascism run by the banksters, healthcare inc and the Congressional Military Industrial Complex as the Main Stream Media cheerleads or the Brownshirt Fascism as run by the right wing crazies ...

What they have in common are the lies they tell people and their real goal of corporate control of all facets of our lives ... Don't kid yourself both sides are being controlled by the same actors.

Take your pick, it's what they want you to do ... are you a Brown Shirt Fascist or a White Collar Fascist?

They are showing their true colors, so maybe we can give them some more rope. Just make sure we don't get tangled up in it ourselves.

In the meantime we need to communicate with our Representatives and Senators. Write, fax, email and/or call them today, tomorrow and the next day--always being polite.

What's wrong with lynching politicians?

I always laugh when I see when I see the DemocRAT party so opposed to actual Democracy. When Democrats win elections, they say "The People have spoken!" When they lose elections, they use Supreme Court Justices and White House Czars to circumvent the democratic process under the claim that "the rights of the minority will not be trampled by mob mentality". A few questions:

1) Why do we care what a "turn-coat" has to say about anything?

2) Why is OK for MoveOn.org and Code Pink to organize angry protests, but not Glen Beck?

3) Has anyone actually read the Health Care Reform bill?

4) In Fahrenheit 9/11, Michael Moore complained that no one had read the PATRIOT Act. Now Republicans are complaining that no one has read the Socialize Health Bill. In Fahrenheit 9/11, Rep. John Conyers said, "Sit down, my son. We don't read most of the bills we pass," and lamented that fact. Now that SAME John Conyers has recently ridiculed Republicans for expecting anyone to read the massive bill that will socialize 15% of the economy. His exact words:

I love these members that get up and say READ THE BILL. What good is reading the bill if it's a thousand pages and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means when you've read the bill?

The question is, why isn't Alternet calling shenanigans on Conyers for his blantant hypocrisy and utter stupidity?! He just admitted that he's too stupid and too lazy to read or understand the bill!

Another question is why can't a rich and spoiled congressman find two days during his month-long August recess to hire two measly (and weaselly) lawyers to help his lame-brained and semi-literate self read a bill that will, you know, only socialize nearly a fifth of our economy?

5) When leftist Alternuts implore people to "take to the streets" to demand action, are they only addressing fellow Marxists, or are the rest of us allowed to participate and utilize our 1st amendment rights?

Oh, I keep forgetting. The First Amendment exists so Hollywood Democrats can publish pornography. When small-town Republicans protest the government, that's "Hate Speech".

You don't need to be a pro Republican / rightwing thug to heckle a Democrat. The same old insider politico with Democratic party badge and mortal fear in his/hers bones of losing the cushy position.

Hell, I would do it in a second at the first oportunity.

The Democrats just rammed two wars and bailout for the irch down the throats of Americans WITHOUT consulting anyone.

Now suddenly a big issue is some muddle health care reform and the Democrats are playing poor persecuted party?

Republican + Democrat = US oligarchy in power

The charade of US democracy continues, wars and bailout were voted in without a problem and health care will be throughly gutted to satisfy the oligarchs.

In the meantime it muddles the waters and diverts people from protesting bigger issues.

And yes 2 wars and bailout for the rich are bigger issues. Not to mention that money wasted for those ventures could cover all the healthcare reforms one could imagine.

Heckle them all to show you want changes.

Mr. Schaeffer has informed us of the obvious. He did, however, omit a few facts. Both the Democrats and the GOP are involved in this nonsense. Did you not notice how the Dems stand there so quietly? How is it that Sen. Max Baucus, a Democrat, doesn't authorize arrests of these people like he did of Doctors politely interrupting his committee asking about SINGLE PAYER FOR ALL? Did it occur to any of you that the Dems might benefit from this? Mr. Schaeffer omitted something else; both DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ACCEPTED EQUAL CONTRIBUTIONS/BRIBES FROM THE SAME INSURANCE COMPANIES AND BIG PHARMA. WHY HAS MR. SCHAEFFER LEFT THIS OUT? The techniques he described Armey using are not new. I'd like to see Single-Payer advocates become just as belligerent. Face it, a 2-party system IS FASCIST. IT IS A FALSE CHOICE BETWEEN TWO HEADS OF THE SAME CORPORATE PARTY. BETTER WE RID OURSELVES OF BOTH PARTIES AND HAVE MULTIPLE PARTIES. PUSH ALL OF THEM OUT OF OFFICE EXCEPT THOSE FEW WHO ARE SINGLE-PAYER ADVOCATES. I wonder just how much this administration is paying Schaeffer. Whores, political or otherwise don't suddently become faithful madonnas; they merely change sugar daddies. Schaeffer is no different. Schaeffer has not turn on his corporate buddies; he is merely siding with the Dems who do a 'good cop' routine as compared to the GOP's 'bad cop.' Nothing more. If you want more information on the buy off of all pols, democrat and GOP alike on this issue read the following link:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeanine-molloff/
Title: Health Care Today : Separate Is Not Equal. There is a table which lists campaign contributions receivd from health insurance/pharma industries, OF ALL MEMBERS OF THE SENATE FINANCE COMMITTEE, DEMOCRAT AND REPUBLICAN ALIKE. THEY ARE ALL IMPLICATED. NAMES ARE NAMED AND THE SOURCE OF THE INFORMATION IS GIVEN.

You know they'd be in their basements fondling their guns if they could.

Quick review:

In 2000, Republicans were toasting one another on eternal control of America.

Remember? They were gloating insufferably at their great mandate, questioning the patriotism of anyone who disagreed with them. They were so excited, they were virtually peeing their pants.

It was the dawn of the permanent Republican majority. It was the beginning of Republican Reich...

Nine years later, Republicans are the most hated people in the world. Humiliated at the polls, they throw snits at public meetings--then go down the basement to pray to their little God for another terror attack.

White Guy Disease

Frank,

I appreciate your honest assessment of what is going on here. I have followed a similar path as you, having read nearly all of your father's books, and then your pro-Life book in the early 1980's.

I have gone from a fiery, Bible-thumping pro-Life Reagan Republican, to a seasoned, Bible-reading, pro-Life Democrat, who is not so quick to judge others. Life is complex - I know that now.

I worked hard to get Obama elected and it pains me that so many oppose him out of basically fear and racial hatred.

I think you have hit the nail on the head when you state that the almost irrational behavior of the GOP is the result of White Men losing their faith in, well, White Men.

Even though it hurt them politically, the GOP could not help calling Sotomayor a racist. They can't force themselves to distance themselves from the remarks of Hannity, Beck, and Limbaugh, even though these men are responsible for a shrinking GOP. They know they should, but their inner White Man won't let them.

I notice that White Men are particularly good at mobs and thuggish behavior as long as they have sufficient numbers, as White Men are not typically very brave (I know because I am one). Thus, the Health Care debates at Town Hall meetings are a perfect forum for them to demonstrate their talent for mob violence and to oppose anything they don't understand.

Yes, these White Men live in fear, and it causes them to hate. They are to be pitied, as the finger has written on the wall that they have been weighed in the balance, and found wanting...

Yes, Democrats have their problems too, most of them pertaining to money and selling out to corporate interests, but hey, they are mostly White Men too.

Townhalls are wastes of time. They began as a stunt under Bill Clinton. They are ready made fora for organized groups. City and town council meetings have long been platforms for organized groups to mob and influence when controversial issues like urban renewal and road location arise. Why is anyone surprised? The talk radio right wingers whip up their peoople on health care; the unions do the same. Ignore these phony expressions of small town America is alive and well. Most people don't leave their houses to participate in public affairs. Polls and ultimately elections are the only way opinion can be expressed in the US.

Maybe Twitter is the new authentic "town hall" for America? You speak(briefly) and its over. No politician present to lie about the issue which is what happens at the 'town hall'. Only the media likes town halls, so that's a reason to ignore them.

It truly amazes me the extent to which Americans will fall victim to the most blatant and obvious propaganda. Maybe this is why we have become the laughingstock of the planet earth.

Think about this for a minute: The American people are so rib-ticklingly stupid, they actually believed that sending a corrupt, hideous, half-witted frat boy like George W. Bush to the White House was a really neat idea - not once - but twice.

I won't be surprised if health care reform fails. These idiotic people just don't know what's good for them. They never have. They probably never will.

If you're against Obama stealing your healthcare and giving it to illegals and those that dont work, you must be an enemy of the state.. He just cant seem to get it through his head that America does not support his "my way or the high way" approach to fixing healthcare!

So now he has assumed it's "right wing" fanatics that are disrupting the debate. How about it's just pissed off Americans trying to find answers.

So now Obama has union thugs being bused to these events to counter Americans asking questions and demanding answers from those that we elected! And of course the violence that they will start will be blamed on Americans, not Obama's union army!

It's Obama who is asking Americans to spy on each other to let the him know who is against his "holy" plan.

mmm.. Hitler has returned!

I think we are seeing a rise in hate and hate crimes from the extreme right.

They are very-very scared of of a black president and more "brown" immigrants.

They believe irrationally that their country is being hijcked and feel unfortunately trapped and desperate.

And they like the deadly combination of guns and religious fundamentalism.

THEY ARE BEING ALMOST CRIMINALLY STOKED BY THE RIGHT WING MEDIA CRAZIES LIKE LIMBAUGH,BECK,COULTER,ETC

I see more outright criminal behavior coming.

Let's demand more accountability and arrests!

I feel the pain that Frank Schaeffer is experiencing. I have not read your new book, but I must say that when I read some of your earlier right-wing material I used to be shocked and feel betrayed. And it is a relief that you have dissociated yourself from it. Without knowing much about the political opinions of your father,I had valued the way he opened up new ways of appreciating the arts for me, in which I have continued to grow. Being a New Zealander, we value the very good public health care system and the commitment of the staff - I am a retired Gastroenterologist and know it works - even if not as well as we like. As an informed Christian, who is moved by Christ and who experiences the presence of God in my life,I would recommend that you learn from our system, which is substantially successful, is certainly so for the poor. There is no cause to fear it. But I deplore the way your political system was corrupted in the last election, and is even more intensely so now, judging by your reports.Thank your for your courage and honesty.I hope you are protected form being reactive, even if it is very understandable.

But we can't count on the GOP to do it themselves.

Great sound and fury signifying nothing

The Tea-baggers and other right wing fake protests are ineffectual.

They can only gain effectiveness if the general public starts paying attention to them.

The media should report that these events are taking place and what their views are and leave it at that.

The lack of resonance with the public will leave the right-wingers flat.

Should the issues those kooks are espousing become important to the average American, the Right will not need protests, they will have an actual ground swell.

However, it is clear that the public is willing to accept large deficits. The public also has unacknowledged patience with new initiatives. Although opposition to the Iraq War grew rapidly, that is not the general rule. The Iraq War is so clearly a waste of time and resources that the large public turn-around was inevitable.

If the new initiatives that President Obama is beginning show effectiveness, the public will support them. Since this is the real world, and not right-wing bizarro planet, the initiatives will take some time to work. The public will be patient with the President's poll numbers fluctuating according to the coverage on the evening news.

Angsterism

Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
AT the heart of all this is anger, insecurity, fear. These people are mad at politicians, mad at losing jobs, mad at a having a black president, mad at losing their homes, mad at making new friends of old enemies, and mad at seeing progressives (aka "hippies")get their way. These "protesters" are protesting against change. What we are seeing is the friction that comes from change - and the degree of violence to this change is in direct proportion to the sense of inevitability of it happening, i.e. the closer we get the harder it will be.

Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, RNC, and the healthcare industry et al are feeding this angst in a bid to both kill change but also to accede and consolidate the power they have lost, and they do so without regard to the merits of the proposed change, of course, but also to the detriment of everyone but themselves.

Their proxies are the wingnuts who are now like pitbulls with a stick. They won't let go. There is no middle ground. Something's gotta break.

" They can't compute that their white man-led conservative revolution is dead. They can't reconcile their idea of themselves with the fact that white men like them don't run the country any more -- and never will again. To them the black president is leading a column of the "other" into their promised land. Gays, immigrants, blacks, progressives, even a female Hispanic appointed to the Supreme Court... for them this is the Apocalypse."

The Southern strategy at it's worst! These small people won't stop until the country is destroyed, unless and until people of good conscious start countering their malicious lies with the truth! A rising tide lifts all boats, even the broken ones.

Edging up on kristallnacht?

Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Are we seeing a progressive spooling up toward events like Kristallnacht? What was then supposedly a spontaneous outburst of German patriotism we now know was a completely orchestrated beginning of descent into fascism? In that case it was orchestrated by the party in power, now the party out of power. However, it is very easy to foresee a scenario in which the right grinds everything to such a halt that they spin themselves back into power, and if it happens, then all these people will want their due. A boomerang effect is a perfectly credible. It becomes even more credible as the Democrats sit on their hands playing the role of incompetents. Imagine if the right had the presidency and clear majorities in the house, senate and courts. The Dems just throw it away. You have to wonder why.

What a great article! It's as good as the talkback comments! They broke their brains - hilarious! I had several Bullworth moments - when you hear something so true and so rare, it feels surreal!

As to why the creepy white men are always so angry and full of hate: it's a direct result of have a gene that demands that the bearer of the gene win everything all the time. A good metaphor was the MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) strategies of the Cold War in the 1960's.

Remember the Doomsday Machine from Dr. Strangelove? The best deterrent is an automatic one that is completely divorced from any human emotion, ethics or morality. We're supposed to (so the strategy goes) submit to these hate filled angry white man scum because if we don't, they will go crazy and destroy everything and no amount of reasoning with them will change their path of destruction. The best bluff is not a bluff at all.

This is also why dominator husbands beat, terrify and murder their wives and children. It's a psychopath versus psychopath strategy that has evolved over millions of years. It's why sociopaths and psychopaths are always angry: in order to always win everything one must be on a hair trigger to go absolutely insane on revenge and repercussion.

Just as a peacock shows how tough he is by carrying around a legitimately difficult tail, these dominators show how impossible it is to rebel against their authority by going suicidally insane and destroying everything if they don't get their way.

Read fellow Canadian Stephen Pinkers' book "How The Mind Works" for a full explanation. Their anger and scorched earth mode of retaliation is an artifact of the dominator gene.

Beck the Bloodthirsty

Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Glenn Beck has been fomenting armed insurrection against the Obama government since he went from CNN to FOX. He revs up public rage (Beck himself once described his work as "sowing seeds of resentment") then skillfully drops phrases like "It's time for people to rise up and say they're not going to take it any more". These little hints are not lost on conservative ears. Go any day to townhall.com (a website developed by The Heritage Foundation)---look at the Comments threads that follow every article---and read loving descriptions of guns and vague threats along the lines of "I am ready for them---just let them try to make me obey a law I don't like and I will start shooting". They love to talk about the need to "water the Tree of Liberty with blood". The same folks who think Obama is Kenyan or Muslim or the Anti-Christ are stockpiling ammunition, food, and bottled water. Not only do they expect civil insurrection to break out, they happily anticipate it. And Glenn Beck is doing all possible to bring about this day. Watch him at work. (BTW, while Beck is perhaps the worst, he's not alone---watch Sean Hannity, listen to Rush Limbaugh or any of the dozens of right-wing talk radio hosts whose voices fill the air for hours and hours every day---read the articles on townhall.com.)

When Obama was running for office, he told
people at town hall meetings to get him elected by getting in the faces of people if they had to. At the caucuses people supporting Hillary were shouted down and kept from voting. Now Obama is getting some of his community organizing playbook used on him and his disgusting Healthcare plan. He is reaping what he sowed but the Chicago thugs can't take what they give out.....boo hoo. All you whiners will now be given a box of tissues and
a copy of the bill to read.....because when you read the bill, trust me you will weep.

Noam Chomsky stated it correctly, " we have a one party system in this country, the BUSINESS PARTY"! Divide and conquer that is the plan and it works very well for the minority. Check your facts people. Both sides have taken huge amounts of money from the corporations that will benefit the most from whatever comes out of this Healthcare Bill! Why should most politicians read the bill when they have already made up their minds! The fix is in and has been for years. Ask yourself why the rest of the industrialized world has moved to a one payer system. It works for the majority of the population. We in this country have been so indoctrinated by corporate propaganda that we see no other alternatives. To the commentor Audit the Fed. Have you ever read any of Marxs' works? I feel that you used Socialism in a negative way, why? The single greatest threat to our democracy is our willingness to believe the BS these politicians spout! The majority are already bought and paid for, democrats and republicans. We must remove outside monies and run campaigns on public funds. This should be our first goal. Hitler was spoken of very highly long before history judged him to be the monster that he was. FDR, Churchill and many other leaders showered him with praise. Prescott Bush, GWB's grandfather made millions off doing business with the Nazis and Hitler. Have you ever heard of The War Profiteering Act? Check it out, its' a fact! How many times were we told about that during the 2000 and 2004 elections? 0 by the MSM. We also studied all of the techniques used by the Nazis during their reign. the US harbored many Nazi war criminals after the end of WWII. 90% of Federal politicians are crooks, plain and simple. They get elected and turn their back on their constiuents and serve the Money. It has always been this way throughout history. Any of the rights and freedoms enjoyed by the citizens of this country were paid for by blood, sweat and tears! It will take a lot of work by ordinary people to reverse these trends. One last question for Audit-the Fed. Please give me one, just one example of a socialist coutry that sparks such fear in you. Please do not use the USSR or China as they were (are) both Totalitarian Communistic regimes. Do some research before you start spouting talking points of those who own virtually everything in this country and now want what the rest of the world too!

Introspection and Revelations

It's time to raise a Mirror to the so called 'Evangelical' movement. This is not a Christian sect. In fact it is the Antithesis of Christianity.
Christ was not born with blessed gifts of wealth and power by God- so why would these 'evangelicals' expound the concept of pre ordained entitlement to justify their self gratifying pleasures in life? C Streeters sound Rather like the Roman emperors, dont ya think.
Nor was Christ a 'Guns and God' Proponent- that too was the Romans.
Christ also clearly was a advocate for the Sick and poor- something this healthcare debate is exposing as seriously lacking in the Evangelcial crowd.
What is on the edge of exposure is that the Repugs, and their base, have, and have acted on, innately Treasonous and heretical ideas.
The Right loves to claim the US is a 'Christian nation' -yet have absolutely no concept (or regard) for what either of those doctrines means or stands for. Christianity is a perfectly good religion, when practiced correctly.
This is why our Founders unequivocally declared Church and State Separate. This Bastardization between the Meglomania of the Corp Neo cons and the Snake oil Dealers have bankrupted US economically and morally.
Let's be honest any one who disparages Empathy, derails charity and has a lust for blood, is not a Christian, nor an True American...
"Inalienable Rights", "Give me your Tired, Your Poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breath free". Yes The US was perhaps founded on Christian ideals, but obviously not Evangelical.

This is the Reagan Revolution at it's failing point. The deregulation of the media and the WTO has placed our coutry right where the world viewers wanted us. Consume the products made outside America and listen to the propaganda that has replaced the independent news. Has it all worked out for the middle class? Lowered education has allowed large areas of the country to be beholden to the talking-points distributed by those that they have learned to trust. Bll Bennet was Reagan's Education Secretary. He was against public education and has been part of the 25 years of dumbing down the electorate. So now we have hugh sections of the country that have fallen so far from the prospect of the American Dream that they are faced with two choices. Accept that they have been feed a line of BS from the political right and change their direction or give into the lowest common denominator and blame those that don't think their way for all the ills of the country.

A bit over the top, but the substance of the allegations is true. The Corporate Axis runs straight through these useful idiots.

It has always been thus, though, Frank. It didn't start with your Dad (who also managed to inspire a good many of us on the LEFT) but in fact was at its glorious prime in the 1920s, when the thugs of the American Legion and the Knights of the Black Hand killed labor and civil rights leaders by the score.

You are right, though. These thugs are corporate-fed, lapping at the same trough as Goldman Sachs, Blue Cross & Co.

In short, it's really OUR money they are using to destroy health care in the US.

Ain't it ironic?

You can respectfully disagree with someone and offer your opinion without threatening and intimidating them. Its done all the time.
Usually when people don't have anything to bring to the table but argument , they turn to more aggressive means.
The media are being played. The kid throwing the tantrum on the floor in the grocery is rewarded with attention while the quiet child just looks on in shock.
A responsible media should take civil dissenters on both sides of the argument aside and question them.

Every one of their "heroes" is either an alcoholic, drug addict or both, mostly criminals who've served time. Some, like G.Gordon Liddy and Oliver North, have been "pardoned" by their Right Wing criminal collaborators.
None of them has a mind of their own. They only know how to mimic and repeat every Right Wing Nut Job talking point because they don't have the capacity to think for themselves. They go through the bible page by page looking for phrases that appear to support their nuttery and absolve them of the burden of thinking and gives them their slogans.
Their only interests are guns, death, destruction, war, torture, oppression, silencing the other side through any means possible. They don't believe in democracy, the United States, or anything we used to stand for. They claim a belief in "free speech" but only for themselves, thus justifying the screaming crazies drowning out intelligent discussion. They can't shut up and listen or they might actually LEARN SOMETHING that might interfere with their idealized Right Wing Obstructionism.
Maybe it REALLY IS an inbred, genetic flaw. Inbred evil incarnate. I can't think of any other reason they would pray for a mushroom cloud over our biggest cities to "Save the Republican Party" without one ounce of concern for the aftermath.

The GOP is writing their own extinction

Excellent piece, Frank! I wrote this piece on the Wall Street criminals early last year which relates. The GOP is securing their own extinction today due to fear, ego, greed and racism just as the Vikings wrote their fate due to the similar fears:

"But I don't even want to feed these monsters. An example needs to be made of them so others don't try it. The story could end another way as well. What say climate change weeds out the strong, as in the fate of the Vikings over 1000 years ago.

http://bit.ly/UEYRx

Many stories were told as to why this group of people led by Erik the Red died off. The most likely story is they simply "lost the ability to adapt to changing conditions. Victims of hidebound thinking and of a hierarchical society dominated by the Church and the biggest land owners. In their reluctance to see themselves as anything but Europeans [racism, arrogance], the Greenlanders failed to adopt the kind of apparel that the Inuit [Indians] employed as protection against the cold and damp or to borrow any of the Eskimo hunting gear. They ignored the toggle harpoon, which would have allowed them to catch seals through holes in the ice in winter when food was scarce, and they seem not even to have bothered with fishhooks, which they could have fashioned easily from bone, as did the Inuit. Instead, the Norsemen remained wedded to their farms and to the raising of sheep, goats, and cattle in the face of ever worsening conditions that must have made maintaining their herds next to impossible."

Another situation during the Black Plague in the late 1300s, the wealthy immediately moved to their estates in the country (What Bush and the elites would most likely do), leaving the poor masses to fend for themselves in the cities. However, never having actually done real work for themselves, they weren't able to survive without builders, cooks, farmers, weavers and other workers. The wealthy then took to other towns to rob the poor who were surviving and rebuilding after the plague moved on, and coerce them to come to their estates to work for the rich as before. Sound familiar?

But under the "new system", the poor refused to help the wealthy, and the privileged fools were forced to work with the poor for survival or die off.

Nature is a powerful cleanser and man must learn to work with it or die. The only way to overcome upheavals and climatic change is for people to bridge color lines and status, and work together in harmony for survival of the human race. Learning basic growing, building and survival skills, then sharing these techniques with others, will provide a better way for us all. Race, religion, status have all been used to say "I'm better than you and deserve more."

The only religion that should be tolerated is that which is spiritual, educational and tolerant of all others. When the majority of people practice this, the monsters will be dealt with appropriately. The mess we are currently in is because we, too, are the monsters.

Rigid adherence to dogma, status, race and anything that smells of ego, arrogance and differentiates humans from one another is deadly. No man is an island (as the Vikings learned). Sharing, caring and respecting the planet and others is what we were meant to do.

The Inuit and Native American Indians had it right: the earth does not belong to man; man belongs to earth. All things are interconnected. What goes around, comes around. It's the circle of life. Simple."

ALTERNETTRS DON'T CARE A DAMN ABOUT THEIR CHILDREN...

YOUNGER BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND FRIENDS. THEY ARE SO IGNORANT AND BLIND TO OBAMa'S AGENDA TO DEPOPULIZE AMERICA AND THE THE WORLD TO ABOUT 1/3RD ITS PRESENT POPULATION.

How? The forcing of the very dangerous, untested swine flu vaccine on God's precious "little ones." All this talk about "angry mobs" is simply a great diversion from what is planned for America starting in 2-3 weeks. I wrote the following letter to Obama this week. You think Amricans are angry now??? Wait until they learn that Obama and the depopulerizers have in store for our children.

##############################################

Mr. President:

Please refer to my previous three emails to you.

The darkest part of the dark side that you’re a part of is the plans you have to force swine flu vaccinations on our children and grandchildren. We are very aware of the plans you’ll have.
1. You appointed Dr. Emanuel as your special Medical advisor. He is well known for his support of the “need” to reduce the world’s population by 67% IF the world is to sustain itself. He is also a strong advocate for health care rationing especially for seniors like my wife and I. His program suggestions border on euthanasia
2. We KNOW that the swine flu was manufactured in a lab setting: that it is NOT a mutation/evolution from previous flues.
3. We KNOW that the vaccine has NOT been scientifically tested for safety, etc. FDA safety rules have been bypassed.
4. We KNOW that you’ll have made the vaccine producers exempt from any civil or criminal law cases.
5. We KNOW that you plan to release an even deadlier version of the swine flu in either Sept or October, 2009. That you will claim that the original swine flu has mutated.

Coming soon to a theater near you - a tale so chilling it will make your blood curdle! A story so horror-laden, few would have ever thought it conceivable only a year ago! Do not see this picture alone, be sure to bring a friend! DON'T MISS....

ATTACK OF THE NEGROES!!!!

Be afraid, they're telling us. Be very afraid! The white man is no longer in charge. "Those people" are taking over our beloved country. The President of United States (these United States, goddammit!) isn't even an American citizen - he's a goddamned A-rab from Africa! He wants to kill grandma and grandpa! He's plannin' on sendin' our kids to reeducation camps! He's nothin' but a goddamned, latte-swirlin', french fry-eatin', Barbara Streisand lovin' surrender monkey! Oh, Martha! Hand me mah smellin' salts!

Those are the depths to which political dialogue in this country has sunk in the last twenty-eight years, six months, two weeks and two days (Do the math). Long gone are days of reasoned discourse for most of these assholes. They are past the point where they could debate on the basis of their ideas because their ideas are reprehensible. To paraphrase FDR, the only thing they have to give is fear itself. Pump the people up with hate. That is their final and only strategy.

Forgive me for pointing out this nasty little tidbit of historical fact, but this is the very same kind of inflammatory rhetoric that was polluting the American political landscape on the eves of April 14, 1865 and November 22, 1963. Need I go into particulars? I didn't think so. Hardly a day goes by where I don't pray out loud, "Dear Lord, keep him safe."

That being said, here's a friendly little reminder for Glenn Beck and the hate mongers on the Far Right who are doing such damage to the body politic: if our president is ever harmed in any serious way, you jackasses will have blood dripping from your hands. And be forewarned, there will be hell to pay. I Just thought you might like to know.

All our Staist friends can do is fume and fuss. There can be no arguing points or the ups and downs of policy of this amazingly huge health insurance bill.

When the President calls for violence against these citizens speaking their minds, you cannot even venture a reaction. Yet, when three sworn enemies of your country were waterboarded, you were beside yourselves.

Now the organized SEIU thugs attack these regular citizens and you only blme the citizens - many or most of whom actually voted for Democrats.

Just remember, when Stalin opened his "camps" in the early 1920's, he filled them with people who had fought for the Revolution and thought that they had his protection.

We had thought that Obama would accomplish his socialist revolution without any of the large-cale "eliminations" socialist revolutions have always required. Perhaps we were being optimistic.

Go back and look at the youtube videos. The people are you in a decade or two. You'll remember the looks on their faces soon enough.

This is from Mossolini himself: “Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power”.

And from Hitler: "How fortunate for leaders that men do not think."

So think on this one folks. Are we so attached and/or stuck to our ideologies that we're willing to sacrifice life-supporting self-interests as human beings for a collection of religious and/or political platitudes? Look deep and see if there is any absolute truth to any assumptions you might be lugging around.

I'm amazed at how unhinged the defenders of ObamaCare are becoming. Here you have a bunch of protesters showing up at town hall meetings, and they freak.

Why? I'm not sure, but I suspect it's because they never expected the level of opposition that they're seeing. They try to pretend that it's all been ginned up by insurance companies, but nobody can seriously believe that. Even Democrats like Claire McCaskell and liberals like NY Times columnist Paul Krugman have said that this is nonsense. Unlike a lot of people on this site, these guys read the opinion polls, which consistently show that huge numbers of Americans are opposed to key parts of this plan. So of course, they're coming out to protest against it. Free speech, democracy and all that.

But instead of seriously engaging your opponents, you guys declare that it's all an illusion, created by the insurance companies, and that in reality, all real Americans just looove what Obama's trying to do. Welcome to Fantasy Island.

While the right wing may view someone telling the truth about their actions as being a "turncoat", I would offer up the opinion that the correct term would be "patriot", since that action places the welfare of country, citizens and democratic process above loyalty to a party or it's corporate and ideologue sponsors. Let's don't help the right vilify people who expose them for what they are.

As a lifetime liberal and proud of it, the one thing I've always had a problem with is the penchant for civil response no matter what. It's what's allowed it to get to this point in the first place. It assumes your opponents are capable of civil discourse when they clearly are not. Yes expose the leaders, yes run them out of town on a rail. But as for the foot soldiers? Call a spade a spade, call them the ignorant dumda**'s they are. When they show up? Go ahead and riot, kick their a**'s and throw them back into the street, and into the hospital. Go to jail if need be, probably can get it tossed on self defense anyway. They're clearly guilty of threatening intimidation and breaking public disruption/ nuisance laws. Don't count on the cops, as many of them sympathize and are fascists in their own right.

Teachable lessons

Mr.Obama and ACORN gave teachable lessons to Mrs. Clinton's supporters, as to what community organizing is all about. Mr. Obama has provided to all lessons on how to have your voice be heard and to stifle other voices who do not agree with you. Mr. Obama was the one who said during the campaign, "get into their faces and make them listen". We must be doing as he coached, as our efforts are making alot of noise in the media and having the other side crying foul. Perhaps instead of laying the blame at the voices who are asking to be heard, we should lay the blame where it belongs at the feet of Mr. Obama, as he is/was the person who provided us with these teachable lessons of having our voices heard.

The option and information of how to die painlessly should be easily available. It would be better for the economy and the taxpayer if suicide kits were sold over the counter. Living in pain and being useless to yourself and others is no way to live. Call it self help if you like, but it would save the nation billions of dollars in health costs. The freedom to choose when to die shall not be withheld.

Rightwing tactic: Accuse opponents of doing what you are guilty of doing
Posted by: tom1041 on Aug 7, 2009 1:46 PM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Recently, O'Reilly, Beck, Limbaugh, et al. have been using the term "Nazi" and "brown shirts" to characterize the supporters of health care reform.

This is no accident. This has suddenly entered their on air rhetoric because this is precisely the characterization that can be made of their supporters. Using these epithets is meant to throw dust in our eyes so we have trouble articulating what is going on.

I have never seen comment from progressives pointing this tactic out. On talk shows, for example, the person who is supporting the right wing view of things, will invariably interrupt the person presenting the progressive view and thereby prevent the progressive from developing a clear thought. When the right winger presents their view, they will make charges filled when lies and factual distortions, but when the progressive protests, they are smacked down with "Don't interrupt me."

Isn't it time we caught on to this trashing of democracy?!

Much of this anger started when Clinton was found by the GOP that he was getting a Blow Job. I'll never forget my conservative friends wringing their hands and pulling out their hair over this fact. They said the world was coming to an end becuase of this special treatment, their beehive hairdooed wives would not perform. Since they are so guilt driven they went to the only source they knew "Hookers"

What the Rabid Brown Shirt Republicans need most is a good ol' fashion blow job, like the Democrats get. Then you'd see happy smiling faces not carring about telling what others should think or do and keep out of everybody elses business.

A half million people protested the Iraq war in just NYC alone... Bush called it a focus group and ignored it. Give 20,000 people a bunch of Tea Bags and they get their own fucking network to trumpet their cause 24/7 and even send their moron talking heads to star in those bullshit parades. Why? It's the damned liberal media of course!

Seriously though. These assholes want to act like this? Send in some riot police. Taze their asses. Tazers aren't just for dumb ass liberal college students. They're also for asshole paid protesters from conservative think tanks who decide to act like a bunch of freaking gangsta drug dealers trying to stop snitching.

It's one thing to show up and express your concerns to your senator. Call. Email. Write. Fax. Ask for a meeting. Show up to a town hall, ask questions. Talk to people.

It's another thing to show up to be deliberately disruptive out of pure spite. Then you're an asshole and should be escorted from the premises by security. During the Bush administration these dissenters wouldn't even see what they were protesting - Free Speech Zones were a mile or more away. So these shitheads should be thankful they're even allowed in the vicinity. This sort of behavior was not and would never have been tolerated in the slightest from liberals or centrists during the last administration. It should absolutely not be tolerated now. Yeah they'll use it as a pity party but you know what? I'm past the point of caring. I'm tired of dealing with their minority rule bullshit because the Democrats don't have the stones to call for order and the Republicans are too busy twirling their mustaches like Snidley Freaking Whiplash to see the damned country burning around them.

Those teabagging assholes? No biggie. Yeah they're ignorant, deliberately uninformed and using cheap political theatre. A large portion of them were also racist assholes. But all they were doing was expressing themselves.

But when you show up and start committing violent acts you need a mud hole stomped in your ass and to cool your heels in jail. Nothing like having a criminal record for the rest of your life to get you off being a jackass. Is that $50 bucks PNAC paid you worth it now when you're laying in a pool of your own urine having a police induced seizure.

And no I'm not talking about legitimate protest. I'm talking about right after that first punch, bottle or rock gets thrown. These people are crossing the line and they should be dealt with harshly. They didn't show any mercy with the pre-emptive arrests of potential protesters before the RNC.

This 'mobbing the congressman' shit isn't legitimate protest. It's using freaking intimidation to effectively overturn a legitimately elected government and thwart the will of the majority and it's all for the benefits of the same wealthy corporations who have destroyed our economy in the first place. You know who uses intimidation? Thugs, criminals and terrorists. Don't like that moniker do ya? Cope. That's what you were calling legitimate and non mob protests for the entirety of the Bush administration.

You people fucking lost - get over it. You're welcome to voice your concerns but you have absolutely no right to try to prevent other people from doing the same and that's exactly what you're doing.

SAME WAY HITLER DESTROYED THE WEIMAR REPUBLIC AND TOOK POWER
Posted by: ThomasG on Aug 7, 2009 4:56 PM
Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVE EXTREMISTS GONE WILD IN THE U.S.

ADOLPH HITLER SAID: “At that time I (Adolph Hitler) adopted the standpoint: It makes no difference whatever, whether they laugh at us or revile us, whether they represent us as clowns or criminals; the main thing is that they mention us, that they concern themselves with us again and again, and that we gradually in the eyes of the workers themselves APPEAR to be the ONLY POWER that anyone reckons with at the moment. What we really are and what we really want, we will show the wolves of the Jewish press when the time comes.”

ADOLPH HITLER SAID: “One can never count on protection on the part of the authorities; on the contrary, experience shows that it ALWAYS and EXCLUSIVELY benefits the DISTURBERS. For the sole actual result of intervention by the authorities—- that is, the police—- was at best to dissolve, in other words, to CLOSE THE MEETING. And that was the SOLE AIM and PURPOSE of the hostile DISTURBERS.”

ADOLPH HITLER SAID: “If through some sort of threats it becomes known to the AUTHORITIES that there is danger of a meeting being broken up, they DO NOT ARREST the THREATENERS, but forbid the others, the innocent, to hold the meeting, and what is more, the run-of-mill police mind is MIGHTY PROUD of such wisdom. They call this a ‘precautionary measure for the prevention of an illegal act.’ Thus, the DETERMINED GANGSTER is always in a position to make political activity and efforts IMPOSSIBLE for decent people. In the name of Law and Order, the State Authority gives it to the GANGSTER and requests the others please not to provoke him.”

The above quotes from “Mein Kampf” by Adolph Hitler tell EXACTLY what the RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVE EXTREMIST REPUBLICANS are doing, the whole Bush administration followed Hitler’s pattern and these disruptions of Democratic Party Meetings is further evidence the Right EXTREME is following Hitler’s pattern that brought down the Weimar Republic in Germany. The Right is duplicating Hitler’s Plan to a “T”.

As a longtime reader and commenter on this site I'm troubled by the direction I've seen both this site and its comments go in since the election of Obama. I suppose I shouldn't be. Just look at where this site gets its funding.

The same crowd that was enraged, and rightfully so, by the actions of the Bush administration is now cheering for the same loss of freedom and prosperity inflicted upon us by a new administration. Why? Because he is a black man and not a white, priveleged senator's son? Because he is articulate and inteligent instead of a bumbling idiot? Because he is a Democrat? I don't get it.

What have Obama and the ruling Democrats in Congress done to earn your support? He was funded by the same corporations that funded McCain. He lied to you about Iraq. He lied to you about Afghanistan. He lied to you about the PATRIOT Act. He lied to you about appointing lobbyists. He is overseeing the greatest transfer of public wealth into private hands the world has ever seen with the recent bailouts. What reason does anyone have to believe that this bill will not be a complete disaster?

I know our healthcare system is in need of reform. There is no question about that. My inner libertarian tells me that public healthcare is not a proper function of government, but my inner liberal wins this one out. I'd like to see a public system, but I want one that works for the people. Given Obama and the Democrats' recent track record of favoring the oligarchy over the people I don't have any reason to believe that their bill will work out well for average Americans.

The tone of the debate is startling. Lies and distortions from both sides. Propoganda flying everywhere. Both sides playing race cards. Paid internet trolls muddying up the discussions. Cable news blowhards spoon feeding you the bullshit. They tell you your opinions, and they're very good indeed.

I have no confidence that any sound legislation will come out of this circus.

Everyone is right and wrong

Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
I feel everyone ought to have what they want. I think everyone who thinks that someone who doesn't agree with you is wrong are wrong.

Love is the very most important thing and it hasn't been mentioned once here. Isn't health care about healing? Isn't healing about love on some level to me it is about love. I personally feel I can not be healed without love.

Left wings are discussing right wing nut jobs and some of the people here are treating these people as though they are less than and like they do not have rights. No matter how much you disagree with someone in a free society like ours it is supposed to be alright to disagree and have another opinion.

I am left and right winged and my heart is in the middle between the 2 wings. Everyone on this planet ought to be free to choose to pursue happiness as long as that pursuit does not harm another who also has the same rights.

We can't even agree on health care how can we possibly agree on ending the war when will we grow up as a race. We are all humans that is our race. What is on the inside is I think more important than what is on the outside.

Maybe I am wrong for believing life is precious and people are valuable.

I want ya'll to know that no matter how much I get called a nut or what ever I defend your right to say it. Cause I know you feel you are right and, I know you have a right to say it.

Why has this health care stuff gotten so out of hand?

Each side of this argument has merit. What are the problems with this bill? What is good about it? Why don't we t cut the bad (the expense) part and go with what is left the good part the part that makes it affordable and comprehensive.
The government already has a health plan. Why not just extend it to cover those who need it or want it? It already works pretty good why not just let the people who want to come into the system. What is so hard about that? Maybe wall street can't find a way to out source the jobs it would create to India I don't know. But the government system we have works it just need to be expanded is all.

Many people are paying for medicade others have medicare I think right now. The veterans have a plan can the veterans not sell their plan to the public if they want to? There are several private health plans out there let people keep their own too because this would help lower cost for everyone. I heard of one plan where doctors form a group and charge $300 per year to be a part of their group and you pay an additional for prescriptions and $20 per visit that sounds affordable to me.

There are many options may everyone's rights be protected. Maybe if we change we can show the rest of the world how to change what they need to change. Calling each other names (it hurts my feelings and it seems a little rude too when someone calls me stupid or a nut job) is not going to get the job done.

May we all be at peace.

This is a very important and enlightening article. Thank you. These true fascists are using the term to confound. And, I have to include Big Health Insurance in the term, since they condone this brown-shirted thuggery.

We need your voice of reason and sanity at this time in our country's history when we have the first black president and some racist people are incited to violence by Glenn Beck and his cohort.

One thing I remember from public policy school: Always identify who benefits and you will have the source of your problem. We can waste a lot of energy blaming uninformed, ignorant, Nazi brown shirted Republicans, et al., but let us remember who will gain from this melee: not the poor grandmother who doesn't know her Medicare is a government program, but the Insurance and Pharmaceutical industries. This is Insurance/Pharma capitalism that is the engine driving this thuggery. Just as the War Between the States was an economic war between slavery-based Southern agriculture and Northern manufacturers; employers gain from illegal immigration and poor uneducated minorities; the US oil companies fueled the Iraq War, etc., we must remember who really profits from this public rancor. We need to focus our energies on the source of the problem ... investigate the source of the conflict and have them prosecuted and most importantly, get the monied class out of campaign fundraising so our representatives can be free to act according to their constituents' wishes and to their own conscience. Remember why they really killed Dr. King... when he began to march for economic rights, not civil rights...

Back when you were either filthy rich or dirt poor, courageous people formed labor unions and began fighting back by going on strikes or not working, but staying on company property.
True to their pathological nature, corporate bigwigs ordered thugs to start splitting skulls, which precipitated bloody battles and even riots. The unions eventually prevailed, with the help of a great Republican, namely Theodore Roosevelt. The 40 hour work week, child labor laws, paid vacations, workplace safety laws, and the right to organize and collectively bargain for fairer wages, pensions, and group health care can all be attributed to these brave men and women.
The corporate monsters didn't go away; they just bided their time waiting through a depression and WWII, until a stooge like reagan could be installed to do their bidding, and the beginning of the resurgence of corporate control and outright ownership of our people was on.
This is the situation we find ourselves in today. The only difference now, is the nearly total absence of brave workers and honest politicians and the maniacal ferocity of the corporate racketeers as compared to the past.

It hardly matters that history holds the answer to our current pickle if our people can't bother themselves to study it and LEARN from it.

"Responsible Republicans"

"...responsible Republicans..." -- there's an oxymoron. If you are responsible, you have ceased to be a Republican.

Probably the only answer is to get the health care information to the public via the boob tube. Somehow PBS's Bill Moyers Journal -- the Wendell Potter segment -- needs to be aired on a "regular" network. People don't watch PBS -- except for us elite. The ignorant masses -- those susceptible to the lies of the insurance/medical industry -- can't be educated unless they see/hear it on a network TV program.

Tactically, it seems only necessary to target congressional members with sufficient feedback from the actual 70+% of us who demand real health care reform.

Defeat Repub Clusterfox - FLASH MOB for HEALTH CARE REFORM

FLASH MOB for HEALTH CARE REFORM (I'm serious - as serious as Judge Sotomayor!)

Well, it appears that the party of alleged individualism seems hell bent on un-individuation of its followers. It's now coagulated into an amorphous glob. Fortunately for us, it's realllly difficult to remain anonymous in a You-tube world - the mob's bloody skirt can't hide anyone anymore!

It's time that we on the left show this disagreeable rabble on the right what a 'Kumbya moment' in the New Millennium really looks like.

Instead of militant non-violence or civil disobedience - let's call it "flash mobbing" for health reform.

Here's a link to a site for the Nationwide Schedules of Dem and Republicant representatives who will be conducting Health Care Town Halls in your area:(hell, go to both - you know they'll be there - what fun!) http://politisite.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/

(Thanks Repubs for doing all the work for me)

1. When you and yours get to your meeting spot (it's OK, even desirable, to be a little fashionably late - you make a grand entrance and you can easily spot and surround your, ahem - quarry).

2. Sit in the front and stand around the perimeter, in the aisles, in the back.

3. When the hate-mongering, fear-pushing, deathers start their shit (and, you know they will - Duh, that's why they're there):

Everyone stand up, turn around, face your opponent, and SING - in unison - and at the top of your lungs!

Someones crying lord, kumbaya
Someones crying lord, kumbaya
Someones crying lord, kumbaya
Oh lord, kumbayah...

Pick a song - We Overcame, Revolution, Subterranean Homesick Blues, Imagine... whatever floats your flash!

BTW: Dress Up!
Wear you coolest Obama, Health Care for All, Single-Payer Now, Do You Know Where My Living Will IS?, Jesus loves Health Care Reformers or even your Christ was a Community Organizer shirts and hats (hey, come on - remember, we ARE big-tenters - unity through diversity!). And, make sure your camera's batteries are charged.

Now, Get Out There - e-mail, twitter, and Face Book everyone you know!

And, when you get to where you're supposed to be, remember: Smile, Laugh, Be Nice (and make sure you show your beauteous tats - it drives 'em crazy!)

THIS IS OUR TIME ... Make the Best Use of It!

That these meetings have been infiltrated by big business shills is predictable. It is almost unbelievable, however that so many "regular" people can be so highly motivated to act against their best interests. Such is the greed and stupidity of present day "main stream" conservatism. None of this would be possible without the careful manipulation of weak minds by the corporate media (the Grotesque).

do not sound to me like bona fide anti healthcare activists. They seem to be more a rent a mob intent on disturbing the peace no matter what the subject under discussion. Beck and Fox have a lot to answer for and the more dangerous and abusive these tactics become the more Beck and Fox will be tarred with the same brush as the faux anti healthcare jihadists. Someday a tragedy will happen that is caused by Fox and its liability will be huge.

Americans would rather get ripped off by health insurance companies and drug companies even though ten's of millions are dying and going bankrupt and even though we have medicare and social security that the nations biggest population, us Baby Boomers have been paying into all our working lives and even though the govt pays for vets. It took us awhile to figure out Bush- i guess it will takes us awhile to get it through our thick skulls that we need Medicare for all and that we are sick of being 37th in the world for longevity and 50th in the world for health care. All I can do is shake my head in absolute disgust. Guess people like getting raped for lousy health care. We pay too much and there is no guarantee they will pay for anything if the time comes. I just learned that our govt is also subsidizing Canada's health care system from my stock broker who worked for Smith Barney. Yup we are just too stupid. When will we ever learn?

THE ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE OBAMACARE
Written by Dr. Dave Janda
Thursday, 23 July 2009

As a physician who has authored books on preventative health care, I was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at a Congressional Dinner at The Capitol Building in Washington last Friday (7/17).

The presentation was entitled Health Care Reform, The Power & Profit of Prevention, and I was gratified that it was well received.

In preparation for the presentation, I read the latest version of "reform" as authored by The Obama Administration and supported by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. Here is the link to the 1,018 page document:
http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/p....

Let me summarize just a few salient points of the above plan. First, however, it should be clear that the same warning notice must be placed on The ObamaCare Plan as on a pack of cigarettes: Consuming this product will be hazardous to your health.

The underlying method of cutting costs throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care. There is no focus on preventing health care need whatever. The plan's method is the most inhumane and unethical approach to cutting costs I can imagine as a physician.

The rationing of care is implemented through The National Health Care Board, according to the plan. This illustrious Board "will approve or reject treatment for patients based on the cost per treatment divided by the number of years the patient will benefit from the treatment."

Translation.....if you are over 65 or have been recently diagnosed as having an advanced form of cardiac disease or aggressive cancer.....dream on if you think you will get treated......pick out your coffin.

Oh, you say this could never happen? Sorry..... this is the same model they use in Britain.

The plan mandates that there will be little or no advanced treatments to be available in the future. It creates The Federal Coordinating Council For Comparative Effectiveness Research, the purpose of which is "to slow the development of new medications and technologies in order to reduce costs."

Yes, this is to be the law.

The plan also outlines that doctors and hospitals will be overseen and reviewed by The National Coordinator For Health Information and Technology.

This " coordinator" will "monitor treatments being delivered to make sure doctors and hospitals are strictly following government guidelines that are deemed appropriate." It goes on to say....."Doctors and hospitals not adhering to guidelines will face penalties."

According to those in Congress, penalties could include large six figure financial fines and possible imprisonment.

So according to The ObamaCare Plan....if your doctor saves your life you might have to go to the prison to see your doctor for follow -up appointments. I believe this is the same model Stalin used in the former Soviet Union.

Section 102 has the Orwellian title, "Protecting the Choice to Keep Current Coverage." What this section really mandates is that it is illegal to keep your private insurance if your status changes - e.g., if you lose or change your job, retire from your job and become a senior, graduate from college and get your first job. Yes, illegal.

When Mr. Obama hosted a conference call with bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible, a blogger from Maine referenced an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance.

He asked: "Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?" Mr. Obama replied: "You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are

To all you GOP individuals out there...

If universal healthcare is so BAD then why is the U.S. the only advanced nation without it? Moreover why hasn't one single country gone back to a for profit capitalistic private healthcare system and abolished their own universal care system?

How can you rage against reform because it will "RESTRICT everyone's choices" and yet you also are against reform because it doesn't RESTRICT covering abortions?

If government healthcare is so bad then why aren't you proposing that we strip veterans of their VA and Tricare benefits? Why don't you propose stripping the poor of their Medicaid benefits? Why don't you propose stripping seniors of their Medicare benefits? Why of all people hasn't one single GOP member voluntarily given up their own government health care benefits package yet? Why haven't you proposed forcing all the above mentioned individuals into the private health insurance market if government health care is so awful?

One more thing as ultraconservative as you GOP supporters are why haven't you advocated one of your core values.... Everyone needs to take personal responsibility for living a perfect healthy lifestyle and eating a perfect diet so we can all reduce long term costs to the health care system?

I'm a medical professional and would love to hear your answers. Just so you know I've actually spent hours researching how to best achieve universal care in America and here is my very well referenced article regarding this - http://bit.ly/9QLV8

I'm sure it feels nice to view things this way, but it is very naieve. Obama is a return to centre-right Clintonism. Better than the prior 8 years of the Neo-Cons, but status quo.
Getting distracted by such nonsense only means you aren't devoting your time to whats occuring.

One thing that Frank forgot: Obama's deal with the pharmaceuticals. The pharms' and insurance companies' lobbyists' deals and pressure schemes are not quite as bad as what happened during the height of the Iraq war, but it all reminds me of the complicity of German big business with the brown shirts as they came to power in the thirties. Of course, shouting down and otherwise bullying your opponents is a standard technique of extremists everywhere - they don't want any intelligent discourse about any issues on their agenda.

0-CARE: NOW THE DEM DISTRACTION PHASE

O-CARE: NOW THE DEM DISTRACTION PHASE

Now that serious voters have actually read the bill, driven some distance to t-hall meetings, asked questions, refused to be snowed or ignored…the democrat media machine will go true to form. Its time to distract and smear. Anything to avoid actual real legit answers to voter questions. So now we see the fawning biased media suckered into reporting demo-thugs and plants as somehow coming from conservatives or blaming conservatives. No praise as the many years when the loud lefties had their “rent a mobs” all over TV. It was noble and American then to disagree.

Now we will see more demo-plants into t-halls, demo union thug plants into t-halls and name-calling media smears. Anything to avoid legit answers to voter questions. Cancel meetings, have meetings by phone, have one-on-one-no-witnesses or cameras meetings, call voters names and pronounce them disrespectful (disrespectful of a congress with approval ratings under 20% year after year) rude meanies not worthy of the presence of congressional royalty. This is the same congress that does not read trillion dollar bills, wants to count illegals in the census and give them HC while borrowing trillions from the chinese to buy votes. This is the congress of a broke nation now attempting to rule your life in the most intimate way via tens of thousands of medical bureaucrats (Britain has 1.5 million of them).

No, they won’t do medical tort reform or portability reform or multi-state plan reform. The corker is congress and federal employees are exempt from the O-care Plan.
So you wonder why there is anger? Give us all a break. The voters have been patient for too many years. Enough. Answer WE THE PEOPLE.

The traditional respect, responsiblilty, and reverence for the First Amendment, Free Speech, is being not only corrupted but venturing into violence at open forums, by the Republican Party, and that's pretty scary to me, that the police have not protected these Town Hall Meetings to make sure that proper conduct is insured from GOP insurgents whose inciteful behavior causes Meetings to be shut down. I happen to like the First Amendment, and am angry that the Republicans are inciting "mob" like behaviors among their supporters. Even McCain with his profanity has his First Amendment protected.

Why, as Americans, are we tolerating, the overrunniing of our First Amendment Rights allowing this to continue? This unruly, and illegal violence being caused at these meetings has no regard for the Constitution that honors the Democratic laws meant to protect legal meetings so all parties can be heard. With the Republican strategy to out-shout speakers and pushing and shoving and turning the meeting into chaos certainly must show the ignorance of their strategy and willingness to break the law if necessary.

But when Palin speaks, do the Democrats try to interrupt her interviews? Of course not, and you get what she says, word for word, as if it were the Word from God. Let's take a look at what she is saying. First, about limiting medicine from elders. My husband died from contracting Hepatitis C at 60 and the cure is the AZT cocktail, but we were told in the beginning that the policy on giving out that expensive cure is no one older than 50, so we are already rationing medicine. Also, about rationing for children with disabilities, the most comprehensive care for Down's children is Early Intervention, and when the politicians cut the Education Budget they cut the services that are available to these darling but challenged babies. And this is what has been happening, tax cuts to the rich and huge Education cuts, defunding programs for these children who will never reach their life's full potential. So when you listen to Palin talking about cutting services with the new system, hey, we're already there.

And when I lost my teaching job to even deeper cuts in Education (MA, Special Education, Emotionally Disturbed/Mentally Ill) those children suffered overstuffed classrooms to the result of less and less attention to their individual challenges (disabilities). I lost my insurance, and I had prescriptions I was taking, one, without insurance coverage, because there was no government insurance, cost me $850 a month. And then, with the others I charged, I went to nearly $30,000 in debt, until I married, and had insurance again.
So this is what Palin wants you to be afraid of. And these are the voices that shout down the speakers at these Town Hall Meeings.

People, we are Americans, setting the role model for the rest of the world to show them how Democracy works in a peaceful country, where the First Amendment protects speakers from being compromised like that. How do you think the world sees us in mob violence at a Town Hall Meeting? Does that show them a positive view of Democracy, or does it look like Poland a few decades ago?

OK, listen to who you want, but at least have the respect to listen, and stop the mob violence that the GOP has been funding. That is NOT America. Nor should we tolerate the theft of our Right to Free Speech. Whomever you support, at least support the First Amendment without the violence.

Thank you for reading.

Don't get carried away with poor Democrats bit

Yes, Democrats have their problems too, most of them pertaining to money and selling out to corporate interests, but hey, they are mostly White Men too.

problem solve. I always see articles talking about "take it to the streets" and we see who is really getting the shoe leather to the ground vs sitting in the comfort of a a/c Starbucks and bitching about the revolution.

Waste of Time
