Van Jones has been one of the leading voices of the "green jobs" movement, working with organizations like the Ella Baker Center and Green For All. Recently he has been on CNN and other media outlets talking about the new bill being debated in the Senate -- the Lieberman-Warner bill -- that attempts to set some cap and trade standards for reducing carbon emissions. Does the bill go far enough? Jones give his opinion and how this bill can help strengthen our economy and tackle poverty as well. Check out the video to the right.

OFF TRACK! Push for the Safe Climate Act! [Report this comment] Posted by: matty848 on Jun 5, 2008 9:04 PM Current rating: Not yet rated [1 = poor; 5 = excellent] The LW Bill cuts emission standards 25-35% by the year 2050.. and thats about it. This is absolutely not enough! There is a bill called the Safe Climate Act 2007 1590 in the house right now. There are already 151 congresspeople who have signed on to it. Henry Waxman (CA) introduced it. As opposed to the LW Bill, the SCA cuts emissions 80% by 2050, starting with FREEZING all emissions in 2010, with "a flexible economy-wide cap-and-trade program for greenhouse gas emissions", and cutting down for the 40 years following it. It also puts money into creating a vastly increased renewable energy industry, including solar, wind and other non-intrusive means of power (with the exception - in my opinion - of hydroelectric power, which has shown to be incredibly harmful to entire ecosystems, ie China, Brazil, etc.). The Bill is backed by Jim Hansen, among others, who "heads NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies" and is one of the leading climatologists in the world. DO NOT fall for the corporate-written LM bill which will: a) not do the necessary greenhouse gas emissions cuts which leading scientists say is necessary in the next 3-7 years b) continue to give huge paybacks to corporate interests such as ExxonMobil c) badly set back the fight on our carbon footprint Push for the Safe Climate Act 5090! It goes above and beyond what we need, and is backed by B. Obama as well. He is one of many Great 'Deceivers',Trust Nothing he says or supports. Not proof of earth warming but start with the basic premise. It's a fabricated lie. The goal is a carbon tax that us donkeys will theoretically gladly pay because we are the EVIL creating and even breathing out the dreaded poison CO2. Once a reasonable person investigates the lie they soon realize the hoax. Do not be stubborn. Search for the proof. I swear to God CO2's impact is negligible. The CO2 proof is glossed over wherever it's claimed and in fact these scam artists call you unreasonable for doubting their great fraudulent scam. That is that CO2 and thus us humans that are the culprits. As icing on the cake consider the stupid bill in the article and whose name is on it.
