Election 2008

How the GOP Is Counting on Hurricane Gustav for an Image Makeover

By Brad Reed, AlterNet. Posted September 1, 2008.

As the storm bears down on the Gulf Coast, the Republicans see an opportunity to help salvage their brand.

With another enormous hurricane bearing down upon the Gulf Coast, John McCain and prominent Republican leaders have decided that this could be the perfect time to rebuild their image.

Think I'm being too cynical? Consider that McCain decided yesterday to gin up publicity for his campaign by touring the Gulf region with newly-minted vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin. While down in Mississippi, McCain announced that the Republican National Convention this week would be transformed from "a party event to the call to the nation for action, action to help our fellow citizens in this time of tragedy and disaster, action in the form of volunteering, donations, reaching out our hands and our hearts and our wallets to the people who are under such great threat." What this means is anybody's guess, although GOP officials have been floating trial balloons about the idea of transforming the entire RNC into a giant telethon to help the hurricane victims. Not to be outdone, Senator Norm Coleman blatantly made the case that McCain would be the best president to defend the country from both terrorism and natural disasters. The hurricane also gave Bush a convenient opportunity to skip out of town and without weighing down the party with his sub-zero approval ratings.  As one anonymous Republican strategist told the Washington Post, "Now the Republican brand out there is not so bad... the does-Bush-help-or-hurt question doesn't need to be asked or answered."

To understand why the GOP has been so quick to cover all its bases on the current hurricane, we should consider the tremendous fallout that Hurricane Katrina had on the Bush presidency. The 2005 storm had a devastating political impact on George W. Bush and the Republican brand because it showed the American public what happens when a political party believes at its core that government should not be taken seriously.

Sound extreme? Consider Michael Brown, the woefully unqualified former head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, who became the public face of the disaster when Bush praised him against all evidence for doing a "heck of a job." Prior to becoming head of the nation's largest disaster relief agency, Brown worked for 11 years as "the chief rules enforcer of the Arabian Horse Association." His only supposed experience in emergency management had been working for the emergency services division in the city of Edmond, Oklahoma for three years in the 1970s.

You would think that with such a thin résumé, Brown would have been laughed out of the FEMA offices. But under the rules of Bush governance, partisan loyalties and ideological zeal always trump talent, intelligence and experience. Consider some other classic Bush appointees who were not merely unqualified, but who were in some cases actively hostile toward the institutions they were chosen to lead. There's George C. Deutsch, the former NASA press officer and college dropout who threatened NASA scientists with "dire consequences" for undermining the administration's position on global warming and who harped upon agency web designers to not dismiss intelligent design creationism on the agency's website. Or how about Monica Goodling, a religious zealot and former Justice Department political appointee who would screen candidates for career positions at the DOJ by asking them questions such as "What is it about President Bush that makes you want to serve him?" And who could forget notoriously unqualified Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers? Or John Bolton, the former United Nations ambassador who hates the United Nations? Or all the Heritage Foundation staffers who were sent over to rebuild Iraq?

The point is that for the past eight years, the administration has routinely appointed people to key government positions who are insane, incompetent, evil or some unholy combination of the three. This cavalier attitude toward hiring unqualified people for important positions resulted in the humanitarian disasters in both Iraq and the Gulf Coast, in government agencies where scientists feel threatened for not towing the administration line and in a Justice Department that has been plagued by shame and scandal. While one or two of these blunders would be bad enough on their own, collectively they have destroyed the GOP's image as the "daddy" party that believes in limited but effective governance.

Which brings us back to Hurricane Gustav. While it's unlikely that the GOP will totally undo the damage that the Bush years have wrought to its brand, the Republicans will likely attempt to show the public that during an election year they can at least try to govern in a manner that isn't wholly reminiscent of the Keystone Cops. Expect to see Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal giving us regular updates via satellite feed proclaiming that unlike in years past, federal relief workers are doing a heck of a job. Texas Governor Rick Perry will offer us heartfelt testimony from hurricane refugees grateful for the help they've been receiving. And finally, we'll probably watch Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour tell us that the government's excellent response to the hurricane shows that Barack Obama is dangerously unqualified to be president.

While you'd be right to call this cynical pandering, there are a couple of upsides to it. After all, assuming that the Republicans don't simply funnel all the money to Blackwater, it will be good to mobilize people to give money for hurricane relief. And let's face it, it is nice to now have two major political parties at least paying lip service to the radical idea that the government shouldn't simply sit by while its citizens drown.

The GOP has as much chance of rebuilding its image as New Orleans being unscathed by Hurricane Gustav. Even so, I'm afraid, Insane McCain may prevail in November after conducting the dirtiest political campaign in U.S. history.

If the Americans have slipped this far

If we as American citizens have IQ's that have slipped so far down that we can be duped by showmanship of the lowest order, then for God's sake, elect Mr. McCain.

And, when he moves into his 11th home on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, while many of us are being forced out of ours, he can get to the important work of starting a war against Iran, cutting taxes to the 'middle-class' that make $2 million a year or more, increase tax breaks to corporations that are, to put in midly, fucking us with low wages, high prices and no apologies, well then, we can finally say that we are getting exactly what we deserve.

Thomas Jefferson said “I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies…if the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of currency...the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent that their fathers conquered.”

John McCain will serve their needs, as did his predecessor George (IQ: 50) Bush. And the public? They will watch their earning power, spending power and living power go down into the toilet (if one is open to the public near their cardboard box shelter) and marvel at what a great job he's doing.

Does this sound like it could be the correct scenario? Well, it's time to seriously consider how we went from the protest generation in the late 60's to the dumber than sheep generation of the 00's. Are we being doped through the air or water? If so, how could we know? If not, what could cause a society to shift from one based upon protesting and questioning its government to one that walks around as if the government is just a vague concept that cannot be tamed or controlled?

In ancient Rome, as the empire came apart, it has been theorized that they too suffered a sort of dumbing down effect, albeit over hundreds of years, which could have been caused from using lead pipes to transport water, thus slowly poisoning everyone. The lead interrupted their ability to reason and thus led to their downfall.

Frankly, I have read enough blogs to realize that there are plenty of interests in our country that would love to control us, that have the means to make it happen and their agenda is usually religious in nature. For the first time since the lunatics wrote out Revelations, a country exists with the firepower and stupidy to bring it on, thus allowing Jesus to finally set foot back on the newly scorched Earth.

The unbelieving heathens that think that Jesus isn't coming deserve to be secretly poisoned and Jesus would approve since they're devil worshipping, evolutionist that believe that the galaxy is big! Let's sacrifice them in His name, AMEN!

If you don't think we are capable, world history shows that humans have killed hundreds of millions of each other for power, religion, idealism...we are only 100 years past the ending of basically the bronze/iron age...collectively, we are still very dumb...drugging us would be a snap....just ask your doctor...he's got something for you right now that will help take your mind off such crazy thoughts...

I Was Wondering If Anyone Else Had Thought About This Angle...

Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Now I know I'm not the only cynical bastard.

Honestly, this scenario was the first thing that came to mind when I heard that another major storm was on its way towards the Gulf region. But like many a partisan, I dismissed it, thinking that Republicans (as a Party) had become so obscenely tone-deaf as to be oblivious.

This postponement/re-purposing of the RNC could serve them very well. It does solve the thorny issue of trying to pretend Bush & Cheney never existed quite handily. Also, combined with the aggressive police harassment we've seen here over the last couple of days, it potentially diminishes the ability of protesters to make any sort of impact. After all, the major news teams have already relocated to the area threatened by the storm & are likely abandoning any remotely negative narrative that could have been on the table. Whew, kids, school's been canceled!

Am I alone in my dark, dirty, shameful disappointment that the Republicans are for once acting (at least publicly) with some class? Am I really so obsessed with seeing them disgraced & stripped of power that I want innocent people to suffer from their continued, callous neglect? What the hell is wrong with me?

I fear this very well could be their silver bullet. I know it is horribly childish, but this feels really, really unfair. Goddammnit.

Katrina= Mac's birthday celebration with W. while he was blowing out the inferno pon his B-day Cake, Katrina was blowing the shit out of NOLA and the rest of the gulf.
Now begins the GOP Convention- and Gustov has been looking like Katrina's twin. With as much heads up time. So they've decided to pay closer attention this time. Because Katrina taught them a lesson, or ONLY because of the Convention- My bets on the Latter.
If these crazed Religious fanatics believe so much in 'Signs' of the Forgone conclusion of 'End of Days' - Why do they refuse to see the Obvious 'Sign' God is sending about McCain and the 'Republican' Party (aka 'Corporationist')??
What's the saying- 'See what you want to see, hear what you want to hear'? Exactly what they do with their 'Holy' Books and Teachings too!
I'll take that as a 'Sign' God hates the GOP/Mac and We should Too!It only follows if God Hit the Gulf because he was punishing the Gays. Can't have your Cake & Eat it too Taliban 'Christians'!

...that the storm criers are wrong as usual, it peters out, and the GOP look like disaster-junkie, attention-grabbing monkeys.

"What was called the "mother of all storms" by New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin on Saturday had weakened to a storm at the low end of the category 3 scale, and even that designation was described as “generous" on Monday morning by official forecasters."

Apparently Gustav isn't willing to stay on message.

Republicans are exploiting Hurricane Gustav to show their "passion" for American citizens. Bush had already showed you guys' true colors in many ways before, during and of course, after Hurricane Katrina.
Since when Republicans are truly compassionate toward low income citizens? It is obvious that due to the election year, the week of Hurricane Gustav which happens to be in the same week of the RNC, hmmm.....Republicans believe in time convenience to make shallow peace offerings. 2005 was the year Hurricane Katrina destroyed areas and surrounding cities along the gulf coast. 2005 wasn't an election year. We're in 2008, what's the big deal now Republicans? Your party should want to cherish the lives and welfare of the citizens here in the gulf states regardless. Hurricanes and disasters shouldn't be a prompt for a political party to all of a sudden care about the low income citizens in our area.
Since you Republicans want recognition for your American appearance in the gulf states, why not investigate and oversee the funding allocated by the Federal Government to rebuild New Orleans and other areas along the Gulf? Why not find out who's misusing those funds allocated to rebuild New Orleans? Find out why the levees aren't completed three years later.

Wonder Why The Confluence of A Natural Disaster And The Republican

Convention aren't viewed by the GOP as a sign from God? I mean, perhaps their Failed policies are the reason for Gustav. They claimed Katrina was God's punishment for deviant lifestyles. Why would God not punish those who practice some of the other deadly sins like: greed, adultery (McCain), wrath, pride, and glutteny? Oops adultery isn't one of those sins it is one of the ten commandments, along with thou shall not steal. Hey these guys have a litany of sins that God may want to punish them for. Of course the trolls who come here to defend the GOP mindset will not remember those on the Right, including John McCain supporter, Rev. Hagee making those statements.

Several spinners stil off Africa, one or more could make hurricane stage. Gustav pretty much fizzled but more could come. As for Bush and company? IMO this was more of a "HERICANE", considering the VP pick of Palin, which gave the GOP time to regroup from a hasty decision made just after the DNC where Hillary was not chosen as a running mate. The sigh of relief given up by George W was not due to the outcome of Gustav but in thanks to the Lord that he got out of once again making an ass out of himself in Minnesota by giving a speech which Lenno, Letterman and a host of other comedians could pick apart. At any rate, if another hurricane should happen to give NO a look in the future and all the royal party does not show up, we will be assured that Gustav was no more than a way to regroup and the people of Louisiana still don't matter to the federal government.

Option 1: God decided to smite a chocolate city in honor of the Republicans' big party in St. Paul. It's a sinful place, er, the boozed-up chocolate city, not the big party up the river.

Option 2: Republican policies created more wind power for energy independence!

Option 3: This gives the Republicans an election-year chance to redeem their previous failure by doing "everything" right, e.g. the levees should hold this time, evacuation plans were in place, nobody wasn't taking it seriously. Darn lucky it hit a city that had learned its lesson and had immediately strengthened its levees. A direct hit on Miami could have been far worse.

what needs to be nailed home...mostly by journalists whose best hope of retaining journalism jobs is to distinguish themselves from the riff raff and dig deep into their roots of investigative reporting ....we need to have spelled out in a clear, concise, logical terms:
1. How government and private incompetence helped Katrina devestate New Orleans.
2. What happened in the re build of New Orleans? Who benifited? Who lost?
2.a. why are the levies still not strong enough to protect New Orleans against the coming hurracaine?
3. What happened to the school system? What populace attended the public schools and who now attends these schools? Can we learn anything from the charter schools to fix our public education? Do we want to risk losing education for all?
4. Was Niami Klein right in her assessment of disasters as a chance for those with a plan to step up while the confusion of disaster is happening and create a "new reality" overnight.

The democratic party needs to come forth and conciselly and repeatedly re-iterate:
1. That the government was not doing its jobs.....And, we need to know.....why the levies were not fixed and made secure enough to protect New Orleans before Katrina, when the Army corps reported them???????and after Katrina when we clearly knew they had to be strong enough to protect New Orleans against other natural disasters. And what was Bush Sr solution to helping the less fortunate......lights of volunteerism..and did that over the years prove to be enough or do we need strong government protecting our interests....and what is McCains plan of action??????
It would be best if the Democrats would show us how they would step up to the plate. Ofcause, Obama has no say in the Bush administration..and Roosevelt did not accept Hoover's offer to begin to shape the nation before he was sworn in. However McCain has put him on the line by stating:that they will behave like Americans....sacrificing their festivities..So.........now he has little choice if the hurracaine distroys pieces of New Orleans but to show us shades of his thinking or if possible actions, on the subject.

And if you think you told us before...now is the time to spell it out again...in clear concise terms. To allow McCain's group to turn this tragedy based largely on incompetance into political points for their side would be a gross travesty.

I think this latest mother nature attack can remind people of the failings of FEMA for sure. It may show how they have improved but I'm not so sure they want a hurricane to show people that.

What it does do for sure is give Palin some time to getup to speed, gets Bush out of the convention and therefore no sound bites or photo ops.

I am amazed how the local governments have taken action this time. While FEMA was a disaster, the local government was far worse. The state gov't response in Miss during Katrina was far superior.

I still do not understand how mayor Ray Nagin is still in office! That has to be the work of God. A Giuliani he s not.

I'm surprised that every talking head across the country isn't touting this one for all it's worth. GOP preacher? Calling on ALL his "flock" to pray for rain of biblical proportions to come down during Barack Obama's acceptance speech and show we HEATHEN Democrats who's BOSS?
Instead, we got wonderful weather and a great VP pick. God sent a Hurricane for the Republicans.
All those righteous SOULS should be running for the HILLS, hiding under their COVERS. "God is ON TO YOU!!" Better sit up and take notice. Even GOD has turned his back on your blathering.
They can go out there and pretend to be these "All CARING" "SEEN THE LIGHT" "BORN AGAIN" GOOD SAMARITANS but they can't wipe out 12 YEARS of systematically destroying our social network, spitting on the graves of those who've died because of their callous disregard for human life, unless it is UNBORN, turning huge chunks of America over to foreign control, giving away our jobs by the MILLIONS and then telling those who've lost them to "Pull yourself up by your own boot straps and stop whining to US about your POOR POOR plight." We who've taken your every dream away are living high and we couldn't care less about you "Great Unwashed Masses", etc. in ONE week of phony GESTURES.
These are people who think the Constitution IS a suggestion, except for when THEY need it and Bush is the KING and they can do no wrong because they have the money and the property. I don't think ANY of them have even REALLY read a bible, because I am not an expert, but I know the bible says "The MEEK shall inherit the earth, NOT THE MIGHTY" and the wealthy shall be given "sack cloth and ashes". God is NOT on their side and sending a HURRICANE to interrupt their convention after sending his best weather for OURS is a "Sign From Above" that THEY ARE IN THE WRONG and God wants them stopped.

Gustav = Answer to GOP Prayers

Don't forget, many god-worshipping evangelicals were praying for rain for the past month or so. However, in their narrow human view, they were praying for rain on last Thursday night's Obama outdoor spectacle. But their god, in his infinite wisdom, chose to delay the rain (and also he has often been known to be lacking in hitting his targets) and thought that the rains would be best in NO to show McCain's superhero maverick qualities.

But you will also notice that McCain isn't listening to the scientists (just as Bush never listened to them). He isn't even waiting to find out if the storm will hit NO or with what force. All these plans are made with the object of "looking good", not based on what is really needed.

... why would anyone be surprised at this - or upset about it? In life, when opportunities knock, each and every one of us, from republican, democrat, communist, socialist, and independent to mom, dad, brother, sister, neighbor, boss, and co-worker is very well advised to open the door. Gee whiz, folks, I'm neither democrat nor republican, but I'll tell you this: when you continually lash at absolutely NOTHING and try to make mountains out of molehills while finding something ugly and sinister in every conservative action and reaction that you would overlook or apologize for if YOUR side did the same, you rightly come across as screamers ... the shallow, knee-jerk, immature, simplistic, fringe-zone nincompoops that Fox News and the conservatives make you out to be. In my view, you would serve your causes - many of which you and I share - much better if you weren't so quick to pop off, with the emphasis on "pop off." Golly darn, those republicans are - God forbid! - using current events, breaking news, TV and photo ops to spit polish their image, change perceptions, make amends for past mistakes and win an election. How monstrous! Thank goodness democrats are above all that. You won't catch them putting their candidates out there to talk about a hurricane and hurricane relief - or in front of a cheesy plywood temple to talk about "change." Nope, no cheap tricks for our guys. None whatsoever.

today is the sad 4th anniversary of belsan when more than 300 childresn and their teachers were killed by the terroris who have ben harbouring in england under protection of the british govt.
with the logic of america action in afganistan russia shoudl and msut attack adn reduce to rubble the whole land mass of england with nuclear bombs.

And the mastermind of that terrorism is in London under protection of british govt.They-the english race- instigated the terrorist to attrack school on the day shcools are opend traditoannly in Russia.
with the logic advanced by the west agasint iran(that it aarms resitance fighter in iraq) Russia is entitled to bomb to annihilation the whole land m,ass of england with only 12 topl missiles nuclear armed ofcourse-for the crime of isntigating georgia and also insigating chechen terrorists.
this is what I wrote about thse english insipred terrorism in chechniya.

"25th october 2002

On the day chechnyan terrorists tokk hostage of 500 civilains in
A Moscow theatre, The headline of BBC was not about that but about sharp shooter terrorist being suppsedly caught in washington> In fact theis chechnyian news was fifth in item(including head line) . These days atlast the british media even say about chechnyian terrorist as terrorist otherwise 2 years ago they were always calling them freedom fighters(which they are -but that is another story). In fact the british media and england as a country had been actively supporting and giving material help to checnyaina terrorists9aided by cia and british spy and british media aswell).
If you lok at the report of british media then you realize the british involvemnt in terrorism by the chechnyian terrorists. When three multistory falts were wiped pout by terrorist in central Moscow a few years ago there was a gleee in british reprting and a criticism of later security arrangemnt by Russian forces in Moscow. ofcourse the british media would have been horrified and bar=king like a dog(which they are) if the Russians had decided to destory checknian civilians as the americans did in afganistan. Then you realize the humbug of british propaganda against terrorism-it is selective and meant to facilitate british infiltration in other countries, In fact the afganistan govet(after fall of Taliban) was oppsed to british tyroops (after all americans fought -what have british got?)presence in afgansitan-but armtwisting by british through american help ensures that rbtitish troops are there in afgansitan0they are forgeing infioltrators and thus should be eliminated(they have less legal reason to be in afgansitan than the soviets who had been primarily invited by the govt, of the day). the british involvemtn in international terrorism is not confined to agasnt Russian interset only.
When the kashmiris killed several Indian soldiers(regular phenomenon) the british paper(independent) blamed India for being a target of terrrism and not talking enough with what it called freedom fighters.(terminology changes according to british interts). Infact during the 80s when India was really relatively stable and srtongatlest the govet, was) then the british decided to destabilize India by sponsoring Sikh terrorismand taliban terorism aswell(agasnt INDIA AND AFGANSITAN). It is only when India has virtually been subjugated to look after british and american interst in economics and (with rteal weakening of india as military power) that the british decided to take supprt for terrrism somewhere else.
The whole world is being put under sieze by theis thrird rate power-england-a nation of plumbers(graduation from a nation of pirates turned shopkeepers)

The repukes prayed for Obama to get rained out in Denver at the DNC.
The weather was awesome. Even the taliban took the day off to watch the speech.

The RNC was to start today and what happens.
Gustav, followed by Hannah.More killed in Aghan and Iraq is again reporting deaths.

McPalin are Pro-Life
She claims to have had a baby at 43-44 with down syndrome. But pictures surface of her 16 year old daughter pregnant.

McPalin claims to be anti-washington ways.
she voted for the bridge to no where before claiming to be against it.

So tell me, is the prerequisite for being a republican 1.the ability to lie like a rug and smile while doing so?
2.Then call others brutal and unpatriotic when they question you with the truth?
Yes. lol

God don't like ugly.
Ugly=Repubicans.

also, the GOP will gain nothing from this media show except the embarrassment they deserve. Every time we see GWB on TV blowing out hundreds of birthday candles with John McCain. With a split screen of us sitting on our rooftops. We feel more and more anguish.

GOD doesn't even want McBush in our state. The last time he was scheduled to speak here on the safety of drilling. Millions of barrels of oil spilled in the Mississippi river. Lmfao

and "they still don't get it"
Findings:
Get the hint. God's trying to tell you something. She really is. haha The Republicans aren't the brightest light on the tree either. haha

Breaking Story!!

The GOP has announced that due to earthquakes in China, unrest in Africa, tension in the Ukraine, deaths in the Middle East, and the tiniest hint of a slight decline in the incredible economy we boast here (sarcasm, yes), that it would be un-American to hold an election until peace reigns once again.
Therefore, they will commit themselves to ushering in the Second Coming, thereby destroying all non-Christians and fake Christians (like those pesky gays) in fell swoop, as well as ushering in a new age of Peace.

Once that has happened, and everyone has settled down, World Leader Bush will consider allowing a small election.
If that goes well, and everyone tows the party line, they will consider allowing the results to be a) known, and b) validated*.

(*It should be noted that the outcome will not be honored, but only validated in the sense that it will not be utterly denied.**)
(**Utter denial should not be ruled out, as we cannot just assume that the Second Coming Of GOP Lord and Savior will necessarily void the need to hide information from terrorists.)

Thankfully, the levees held; and, after Katrina the people knew they were on their own!
Of course, Bush and McSame will bask in the fact that,at least, there will be no pictures of floating bodies and the deserted men, women and children on rooftops, pleading for help;like they give a damn.
I do not believe that any of their cheap tactics will work this time; the ratings for their sad convention will tell the tale!

With a background in meteorology, I have to tell you there is NO WAY of guaranteeing ANYTHING about where Gustav will make landfall. It may slam N.O. again or it could miss that area entirely and take out some coastal towns in Texas. Be nice if it missed major population centers altogether but there is no way of knowing what a fluid process like an approaching storm will do. Trouble is, if it does miss population centers, all the people praying it does will think that had something to do with it and the mind stultifying stupidity of belief will continue.

You'd think that with all the GOPS pandering to the religious right, they could hold their convention without God interrupting it with hurricanes. Their all too obvious attempt to atone for Katrina with an effort for Gustav will be seen for what it is. And now maybe Rev. Hagee will just shut up about gays and Katrina.

The Republicans pretty much spent a day of their convention pleading for private "aid" which will not be needed. I hope Exxon/Mobil threw a good high octane party on Monday night to make em feel better.

Three days left.

No Party for the GOP?

McCain says he may shorten or even opt out of the Republican Party convention in Minneapolis as hurricane Gustav aproaches New Orleans, because it seems wrong to be engaging in festivities when "people are suffering".

Apparently he hasn't heard yet about the 46,000,000 Americans who have no health insurance, or the many others who are afraid to try theirs out. He must have missed the bit about the home foreclosures being the highest in even his long lifetime. He probably isn't even aware of the fact that wage restraint and inflation has made American take-home pay lower than it was in the 1970s. Probably he doesn't connect the problems foreshadowed by the high-school drop-out rate as it continues to increase. He must have missed the bit about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and certainly no one has told him about the sad fate of many of the returning servicemen.

Well, there's more - a lot more, but to cut to the chase, now that a hurricane appears to be approaching New Orleans again, he seems to be looking for a way to get George Bush and Dick Cheney off the hook this Monday because they would be the ones hitting Minneapolis as Gustav hits New Orleans.

Pretty Penny.

Fascist activity out side of RNC walls Scares BUsh from showing up and McCain

The Hurricane is the excuse in disgiuse for the GOPs reluctance to populate their own convention, Saying it's safer to be in the path of Gustov and the next one, than it is to face the mass protests out side the convention that is being controled by the Gestopo/enforcers.

I'd like to see some images or hear just one of these chicken shit politicians address the way in which peole from protestors to the journalists are being treated around the convention.

Besides why in hell would you put the most important GOP converence in Minnesota, out of reach for all the loyal voters to attend and support their suck ass party?
That tells us all we need to know. This whole CONvention thing is just a media show.

The hurricane GOP response is just too little too late. Just like The Iraq invasion was out of place and off target.

The biggest think to watch for is how the storms will be blamed for the rising price of oil. Ever noticed how the price started dropping again, before the election, just as it did in the last election? Then just after it, the price shot back up. You watch. It's going to happen that way again, guaranteed.

But never underestimate the stupidity of the dumb ass republican voters and the dumb asses that vote just to say they vote, with out understanding what the hell they are doing.

This whole voting thing is a cover up to make people accept the results of the vote as if they actually made the choice.

IT's all discusting.

They gotta help now that La. has a Rethug governor, Bobby Jindal. Then they have Barbour(Miss), Crist(Fla) and Perry(Tex), and that about covers it. Might we guess that if a Dem were gov. of La. they would leave it to suffer for another three years with still almost nothing done.

They call that social engineering. They do it but, if asked, say they hate and despise social engineering. No Rethug will allow any taxpayer dollars to go to help people, only corporations, as in the subprime mortgage crisis.

People don't count, only fetuses do. And iof course Big Business counts for everything, as in Calvinism.

As far as I am concerned the social contract is BROKEN.
