It's pro-choice policies that result in dramatic declines in the need for abortion, and it's the pro-choice candidates who truly value life.

From the Guttmacher Institute's news release, its study, and the Washington Post report, we learn that states which fund programs to make family planning services widely accessible had lower rates of unplanned pregnancies -- and women having abortions. In recent years, many states cut back on these programs, making poor women and girls more likely to have unintended pregnancies. Meanwhile, the religious right is aggressively campaigning both to end the availability of abortion and to limit access to contraception.

From the CDC..."The overall declines in the reported abortion ratio and rate over time might reflect multiple factors, including a decrease in the number of unintended pregnancies...by changes in contraceptive practices, including increased use of contraceptives (e.g., condoms and, among young women, increased use of long-acting hormonal contraceptive methods that were introduced in the early 1990s)"

Emergency contraception has been heralded as the solution to rising abortion rates. Some authors have suggested that almost a million abortions could be prevented in the US annually if every woman used emergency contraception every time she needed it.7 Proponents claim that 43% of the reported fall in abortions in the US (110 000 between 1994 and 2000) was due to use of emergency contraception, and that around 51 000 pregnancies were prevented by its use in 2000-1.4 Similar calculations would lead us to conclude that emergency contraception prevented more than 66 500 abortions in England and Wales in 2004.

First he would actually have to do something more than say he supports choice.

His record on actually doing what he says is less encouraging.

Accepting Public Funding

Refusal to being photographed with a Gay mayor who had fundraisers for him

Will he stand up and be counted on the immunity being taken out of the FISA bill, he has indicated he will not.

Small points but he needs to walk the talk.

I dont want the government in my kids pants!

Why is it that people look to the government to decide what is moral and not!. What happened to families raising their children with what THEY feel are acceptible values!

I dont want schools or Obama or McCain telling kids it's ok or not ok to have sex as a teenager if the parents are telling them something else.

Nor do I want the government telling me that it's ok or not ok to have an abortion. These are personal choices.

The government, pro life and pro choice groups need to stay out of telling America how to raise their children!
