Why It's Not That Fun to Laugh at Sarah Palin Anymore

Now that Sarah Palin is playing the role of pit-bull with lipstick, it has taken all the fun out of this election. I was experiencing endorphin overload as she entertained us the first few weeks after she got the nod. While the far right wing was enjoying her moment in the spotlight, most others of us have turned to her for shameless comic relief. But, now, as she has been repackaged as an attack dog, it is not so easy just to laugh her off.

Here we are nearing the Eleventh Hour in what many term the "most important election in generations." With the world crumbling by the nanosecond, the new Sarah is all about getting boos from the audience against Obama, The New York Times and the so-called "East Coast elite." What kind of fun is that? Not to mention, it's also clear she doesn't have a clue that the oceans are risin' and the skies are fallin', to use the Palinese dialect. Am I sick to wish she'd just call it a day and audition for a fictional Fox show called "The Hockey Mom?"

That might be funny until you stop and consider what is at stake. We are in the throes of the biggest collapse in the world's economic system since the Great Depression. We now have the real possibility that the frozen credit markets will forever change the world. I guess those campaign slogans were right; this election is about change.

Now even laughing at Palin won't be enough of an anti-depressant because millions of our fellow citizens actually think she is ready to be president. Wow -- a person who just two months ago most of us had never heard of and who has now been dressed up and sold to the American public by the likes of Karl Rove. Forget the fictional Fox show, she has been thrust into the all-time best reality show ever conceived. While providing great material for Jon Stewart, David Letterman and Tina Fey, she's serving the increasingly dangerous role of pandering to the audience at Fox News with her hate speech.

So here we are with a dire economic outlook. State governments are begging for credit from the federal treasury to pay for next week's payrolls. They are slashing the budgets to the bone in order to come to grips with dwindling tax revenue in the coming year. As this trickles down, each of our local communities only has its overstretched local tax base to pay for the services like schools, maintenance of crumbling infrastructure and picking up our garbage. It is generally the case when our national leaders fail to balance their own budgets, we all have to deal with the garbage. Really, in these times, we can do much better than a vice-presidential candidate who asserts that Barack Obama is a terrorist.

The reality is that the very people who have promoted Sarah Palin's ascendancy to our living rooms, relish the thought that our governments are being forced to reduce spending in every conceivable way. So, those overcrowded classrooms will get worse and this winter as the potholes get deeper, the Grover Norquists will delight in the inability of our government to provide a safety net during these scary times that lie ahead.

So, instead of thanking Sarah Palin for injecting so much fun into the campaign, I will borrow her most famous phrase, "No, thanks." All we have now is the memories of her most amusing moments as she stumbled into the spotlight. If only it was just an act it might have actually been funny. Let's hope the series ends conclusively on November 4th.

There is a small minority of kkk close or leaning voters who are muddying the waters - about 27% of core Republican voters. America is bigger than this, let's move on and leave that part of our history behind us. Over time we will absorb the prejudices of our older citizens - their time is coming and they will be replaced by more constructive energy!

Sarah Palin Implodes

I can still laugh at Sarah Palin because she's hurting Republican chances. She's only rousing the yahoos that already support the ticket - the same people that think George Bush is doing a good job. She makes it clear that the Republicans don't have much of anything going for them, so I say laugh at the fool. And if you're not afraid to chuckle, check out youtube.com and search for "palin music video eskit".

I've never seen Pit Viper Palin as comic relief... She has scared me from the first moment she walked on stage at the repug convention. It seems that EVERY word she utters reflects a vile negativity who's only goal is to criticize and tear down. I can't imagine what life would be like to be exposed this kind of bitter faultfinding 24 hours a day. Her poor, poor children....

While those of us on the left snicker about this lying, hypocritical, adulterous, self-righteous, moralistic, ignorant woman, more than a third of Americans are cheering loudly. She's stoking the fires of racism, jingoism, militarism, anti-scientism and hatred, and the red state, redneck, red ink, red handed, red meat crowds love it. Obama is ahead in the polls, but not by much, and McCain's health and age factors could well conspire to make Palin president--a chilling thought.

This was a very clever stunt but I never found her amusing. She's a walking mess who has no business anywhere near the White House. A totally shameless tactic get women voters. And now we have her ugly comments and rabid mobs. McCain/Palin are a disgrace to the political process.

remember how a left wing radical moved to the center and got the nomination - and will now be president - you can bet that this right wing radical stands a good chance of pulling off the same trick sometime in the future.. especially after America wakes up and realizes democrats are the driving force behind this latest financial collapse.

The Joke Is Over
Posted by: Tom Degan on Oct 12, 2008 8:06 AM
Current rating: 3    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The reason Sarah Palin was such a hoot when she first burst on the national conscienceness over a month ago was because she seemed, at first, such a silly characature. At her first speech in Dayton, Ohio, she had all the gravitas of a giddy fifteen-year-old who had just been elected class president. At the time, I remarked on this very site that she reminded me of Sally Field as Gidget.

The joke has gotten very, very old. The thought that John McCain could be so reckless to choose this empty skirt to be "a seventy-year-old-heartbeat away deom the Oval Office" defies logic.

Hopefully, the implosion of the GOP will continue. If McCain/Palin end up winning this thing, it will only be because the Republicans have stolen it. You can take that to the bank....

On second thought, stuff it under the mattress.

DEMOCRACY

The Democrats were very angry at the Bush win four years ago. They are fighting hard this election. We need a diplomatic refined president that can communicate and play an important role in defusing existing divisive political rhetoric. America is like a huge high school. America is Educated to worship the gladiators to tolerate and nurse them back to the battlefield. In high school if you didn't already have a life ,or weren't in gear with your own personal battles and values, high School had a plan laid out for you, who to beat where to beat them, when to be angry and what to do to them. I am proud what the democrats are doing this year. Makes you want to go outside and cook on the grill serve up your own peace talks with friends and family.

Say it ain't so Sarah!!!

We were so taken by your looks and smile and the fact you were governor we never thought about just what kind of woman you were. Well,as the old addage goes 'you can pretty up a turd with an evening dress with a plunging neckline and you know what you've got?... A nice looking dress that smells like shit.'

I'm sorry, but gutting a moose with your teeth just ain't that 'down home' anymore.A quick look at the family and we can tell you're deeply into drilling. Having a pregnant teen in the lower 48 might not be that big of a deal but when you come from a land where women are scarce, you might wonder about the age of the father. But then again, Mommy was an ex-beauty queen,TV personality, hence very superficial. But when your competition is breaded yahoos in caribo skin parkas, you could win Alaska on looks alone, like she did.

But the real Palin is hidden in the snows and glaicers of Alaska. She drove her town 20 million in the hole, that makes her qualified to run any bank in town. She fucked the government out of hundreds of millions, now she's Sec. of Defense material. She's proven her worth in the bush by gutting a moose, blasting wolves from a plane, pulling baby seals out of their dens with her teeth alone and clubbing them with her bare hands, and, best of all she spread the oil desecration of Alaska's environment to many outlets so now the state can be spolied in it's entirety, That makes her VP stock fer sure.

Now we're seeing that as a femminist..she's more like a 'Chick-with-a-dick" than a femminist.
She supports women's rights only if it applies to her family, thinks Roe v. Wade should be overturned and enjoys the 'glass ceiling' because of the great view it gives folks under it.

She thinks the Bible is absloute truth. Indians are savages misplaced in the world and should be flocked away from their traditional lives, and it's our divine right,as creations in the likeness of God,to fuck things up so bad the only way you're going to get a 'passing grade' is to appeal to the very God whose Creation she's butchered, shot and deviled simply by being allowed to breed. But then again when you're going for the 'Hard-on Voters' you don't need to be much of a candidate just a big smile, a plunging neckline
and a perky attitude that says " I don't mind a good pearl necklace if there's a government stipend attached" and it begins to lose it's luster after a while.

We want substance, not vagina monologues. Protectors of the Earth and the Innocent not some Earth Hateing Rapist, with or without a couchie, that only cares about how much money they can suck off the taxpayers while they give
tremendous tax breaks to the very folks that don't need it...The Wealthy. You know the bastards that brought us the war, worthless stocks, devalued housing, staggering hikes in the cost of living. All with their hands out like little Oliver Twist's saying "More Please." Palin lost her luster because we don't worship lipstick wearing pit bull bitches
like the early days of the campaign. Now she's just a stanky dress.

perhaps the light-hearted approach isn't nearly enough.

If you want a global legacy that extends beyond sheer disgust with the USA, perhaps now might be the time to get serious.

its not a game, you've been killing & oppressing peoples for decades.

this isn't a joke: you've ruined the global economy...

Billions are watching: clean up your act, folks.

nobody is making excuses for you anymore & we're tired of taking the crap & being told to be grateful for it.

Never ever gonna tell you why, no
They only wanna tell you lies, no
Never ever gonna tell you why, no
They only wanna tell you lies
Its time...it's time to go home

How many people never saw it comin
How many people never heard the warning
How many people never stayed at home and
How many people never heard the call and

How many people got to sing this song and
How many people never heard the cry and
How many people gotten pushed aside and
How many people never saw the doves fly

It wasn't fun to make sport of her. Palin is a slap to the face of every American who loves their country.

The fact that we had to use ridicule as a defense mechanism is just a symptom of that problem. McCain and his campaign didn't do their job and even moved to use rhetoric and secrecy to keep us from noticing so it was left to US to check Palin out. If McCain really gave a shit about this country he wouldn't have picked the Hockey Mom in the first damned place.

Don't worry about her aggression and mudslinging. Everytime she opens her mouth she sounds like an idiot and weakens the case. Let her use the republicans best attacks- she will deflate those attacks long before someone more credible can do damage!

Sarah Palin is a member of a cult, and could well be the most dangerous person since Hitler
Posted by: Jasonix on Oct 12, 2008 5:03 PM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
For the first time in American history, we have a person running on the presidential ticket who belongs to a religious movement known to practice mind control, intimidation, and social-pressure techniques - in short, what we commonly call a cult. Despite this country's bruising experiences with Rev. Sun Myung Moon, People's Temple, David Koresh, and other self-proclaimed messiahs, we have a member of a similar group (the Toronto Blessing, a.k.a New Apostolic Reformation) being paraded as a "regular American."

While it occasionally gets mentioned in the media (Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher), there is a strange reluctance to mention the "c" word and describe the NAR in detail. What would all the Southern Baptists feel about a woman who belongs to a church whose "apostle" claims that there is going to be a "civil war" in the church where those who refuse to speak in tongues and accept the teachings of the cult's "prophets and apostles" will be killed by God? Why hasn't there been an hour-long segment on Thomas Muthee, Rick Joyner, and the International Council of Apostles on CNN? Why haven't cult researchers been interviewed about the NAR? Why hasn't an undercover camera gone into a recruitment meeting for "Joel's Army?" Why isn't all of this on prime-time news?

Relatively few Germans belonged to the Nazi party. The Nazis were led by a fringe group of freaks dedicated to weird ideas drawn from the occult and Nordic mythology. But they were a determined group. Like them, the "new apostolics" could wreak incredible damage - imagine what would happen if President Palin appointed co-religionists as cabinet members? People who doubt that a Palin presidency could result in millions of deaths and the end of any last shred of democracy haven't watched the videos.

Protest Free Air Time for Sarah Palin

According to the Christian Science Monitor last Friday, Sarah Palin's October 25 appearance on Saturday Night Live (the real her, not Tina Fey) is "signed, sealed, and delivered"). An SNL appearance usually gives the candidate a bump in the polls. If you think that, after two weeks of inciting her crowds to be rabid mobs calling for the death of the opponent, Sarah Palin does not deserve this help, contact NBC and tell them to say THANKS A LOT BUT NO THANKS to Sarah Palin appearing on Saturday Night Live. (Google "nbc contact"---the hit will show you a drop-down menu of programs and there will be a form for you to send your message.)

So what's truth about the Repubs preparing to again steal the election? What safeguards are the Dems putting in place to prevent it? With all the bucks Obmama's raised, is he planning to have inspectors at the polls, and counter hackers ready to undo the dirty tricks of the neocons' own Doug Neidermeyers? This seems to be the most pressing issue in Dem politics--I mean, why bother to run a campaign if you intend to let the other guy rob you?-- yet no one seems to be telling us what's going on. It's just rumor and innuendo. And if there is suspicion of a stolen election, what can the electorate do? Short of protesting in the streets, that is. I liked the idea someone had of bringing in impartial foreign officials to oversee things; makes sense since America's future seems so indelibly linked with the planet's future.

Sarah Palin E-mail - Hacked!

Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
According to this recent release from CNN, David Kernell, the son of a member of the House of Representatives, Mike Kernell, allegedly reset the password and accessed the personal e-mail account of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. He also allegedly read the contents, took a screenshot of her directory, and got into her address book information. Her address book contained the contact information including cell phone numbers of family members as well as birthdates and other information. He also then allegedly posted all of this including the password on a public website. After turning himself in, he pled not guilty. Kernell faces up to 5 years in prison, 3 years of probation and supervision after release, and up to $250,000 in fines. Think about this: to pay that down, he would have to take almost 200 payday loans at the maximum allowed amount of $1,500.
