Stephen Colbert Levels Trump: He's Like Your Dumb Uncle Who Only Knows What's on the Internet

The likely Republican presidential nominee just made what is perhaps his most shocking confession yet.

You don’t have to be a comedian or even a Democrat to have a laugh at Donald Trump's expense.

Still, Stephen Colbert went after him again on Monday night's show. “We've all had our fun poking at the big orange Garfield who hates Mexicans instead of Mondays,” he told his audience. “But recently, Trump’s rallies have gotten ugly—first in North Carolina a Trump supporter sucker-punched a non-violent protester. On Friday there were so many angry protesters at Trump’s rally that he canceled it—which is strange because usually a mob of angry people is a Trump rally. And on Saturday in Dayton, Ohio a protester tried to rush the stage—he was either trying to disrupt the rally or just saw Trump’s head from a distance and thought they were giving out free hams. The protester has been charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic, which means he could be the next Republican frontrunner.”

But it was no laughing matter for Trump, who tweeted soon after, "He has ties to ISIS. Should be in jail!" Trump then linked his followers to a video of the bearded protester dragging an American flag on the ground to the tune of what might have been a Middle Eastern song.

“And with a beard like that, he’s either in ISIS or ‘Mumford and Sons,’” Colbert exclaimed.

But the video was actually fake. “There’s no ties to ISIS for this man. This video appears to be a hoax,” Chuck Todd told Trump on NBC’s "Meet the Press" this past Sunday.

Trump had a fantastic defense though. “What do I know about it?” the frontrunner retorted. “All I know is what’s on the Internet."

Colbert took a pause. “I want to let that sink in for a second,” he said. “The likely Republican nominee for president said ‘all he knows is what’s on the Internet.’ Trump is America’s gullible uncle. [And] I want to alert Trump that there is other scary stuff on the Internet too."

Watch: Donald Trump believed protester was in ISIS because....
