John Oliver: 'Jeb Bush Is the Side of Plain White Rice Nobody Ordered'

"You know you've lost when your own mother is selling you to America like an unappealing blind date."

John Oliver has a few choice words to say about the South Carolina Republican primary on his Sunday edition of Last Week Tonight.

Oliver called the Pope vs. Trump throwdown  "a battle between an infallible force and an illogical object." But Teflon Trump survived his faith being questioned by the most inclusive pope in recent history, and won big.

"Perhaps the even bigger news was what South Carolina did to Jeb Bush, the side of plain white rice that nobody ordered," Oliver said.

Considering that the entire Bush family hit the campaign to help Jeb last week, Oliver feels just a little bit sorry for the guy. Even his own mother can't be bothered to really rave about the guy.

"[Jeb] is one of my four favorite sons," Barbara Bush said, on CNN last week, when campaigning in South Carolina.

Oliver's comment: "That is literally what you say about your fourth favorite son! She actually went on to call him steady, honest, modest and kind… and his campaign was over right then and there. Because you know you've lost when your own mother is selling you to America like an unappealing blind date."
