Bush is such a liar. Or is he just out to lunch on the most important issue that he faces? In October, he charged that Iran's nuclear weapons program was bringing the world to the precipice of World War III, even though the White House had been informed at least a month earlier that Iran had no such program and had stopped efforts to develop one back in 2003.

Is it conceivable that Bush was telling the truth at his press conference Tuesday when he stated that he learned of the National Intelligence Estimate report, which contained that inconvenient fact, only last week?

Even if Bush read the NIE report, he clearly doesn't respect it, for at his press conference he said "the NIE doesn't do anything to change my opinion about the danger Iran poses to the world -- quite the contrary." Not that he has anything against the NIE, whose directors he handpicked. "I want to compliment the intelligence community for their good work. Right after the failure of intelligence in Iraq, we reformed the intelligence community."

But whether or not the intelligence agencies are reformed, the president still ignores them. He didn't listen when they told him he was wrong in claiming that Iraq had purchased yellow cake uranium from Niger and he doesn't listen now when they tell him his alarms about Iran are without factual foundation.

The difference this time around is that because Bush is a discredited lame duck the intelligence chiefs were a bit more forthcoming with their findings in a report that has, in part, been made available to the public.

The whole episode shows that our democratic system retains at least some essential checks and balances, but it also is depressing to see that, in this instance at least, the fanatical leader of a theocracy seems to have a higher regard for truth than does the president of the world's greatest experiment in representative democracy.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who took office as Iran's president in August of 2005, two years after Iran's nuclear weapons program ended, has now been vindicated in his claims that Iran has abandoned the weaponization program.

Not so Bush, who has summarily dismissed the intelligence community's findings and, using his favorite tactic in dealing with debacles, is sticking to his original story. A story, as in the case of the earlier Iraq threat inflation, that too many in the mass media and Congress, including some leading Democrats, have bought.

Take Hillary Clinton, who said that "Iran is seeking nuclear weapons, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is in the forefront of that" by way of defending her vote for a resolution that, like the one she voted for before the Iraq war, blindly supports rather than seriously questions the president's case for war.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was absolutely correct in calling candidate Clinton out on that vote and challenging her lame excuse that she had not read the full intelligence report before her Iraq war vote. "Members of Congress," Obama cautioned, "must carefully read the intelligence before giving the president any justification to use military force."

Not a bad idea. In the case of Iraq's non-nukes, the intelligence evidence supporting Bush was flimsy at best when it did not directly contradict his key assertions. In the case of Iran, it is now publicly understood that there is no such evidence, flimsy or otherwise. But don't count on that to stop the bipartisan coalition of invasion hawks from pushing on.

Once again, they will attack the United Nations' experts, who have been proved right in Iran as they were in Iraq. A spokesman for the International Atomic Energy Agency pointed out that the NIE report supports the agency's view that there is "no evidence" of an undeclared nuclear weapons program in Iran and "validates the assessments of [IAEA Director General] Mohamed ElBaradei, who continuously said in his public statements that he saw no clear and public danger, and that therefore that there was plenty of time for negotiations."

Can we get ElBaradei to run in the Iowa caucus? Why are our leading presidential candidates so easily fooled?

It's humiliating to all of us who believe in a free press, separation of powers and individual liberty that a system of government designed by its founders to hold leaders accountable can be so easily manipulated by an unremarkable loser who has been rewarded throughout his life for screwing up. It is hoped that this time around the truth will catch up with him before he gets us in yet another bloody war, just to show he can.

...Who Cried Wolf.

How many times must the voting public and so-called journalists listen to this 'man' and not say that to themselves? Oh, maybe it's because no one knows this simple parable.

What is is about US politics that forces people to 'believe' this 'man' whenever he utters a sentence?

HE IS A LIAR. Plain and simple. He has not spoken the truth about anything since he got into office.

I think many of us are tired of division politics.

It does none of us any good.

We need politicians who want to do the real business of we the people.

Will honesty win ?

It will if WE are honest.

If many of us continue seeking a winner versus honesty we all lose.

""People who own races horses try to own all the ponies in the race. That way they can't lose, while the masses in the stands losa at the hands of these owners""

For many many years thats is what the group Bilderberg has done and so we the people in the stands can't see the bigger picture and most of us get taken to the cleaners.

I am tired of being controlled and the only way we can win is to not play their game and elect a president who isn't controlled by the powers to be.

In my research of facts i have found that kerry
edwards were also bilderberg candidates (as were Bill
Clinton and Al Gore) and with edwards pushing far left
and hillary pushing far right as they both play in the
democratic field, Edwards is just trying to break down
voters who would otherwise join Barack in his campaign
but i think eventually that tactic will falter. Barack
who is not in the middle, but in the Truth, will, with
his ability to unite versus using division, bring him
to a positive finish.

Its just up to us to educate the citizenry to this
understanding and we should do so in the same Fashion
as Barack has taught us.

I am Barack Obama you are Barack Obama we are Barack
Obama.

Obama will not get the votes from Repub.s Dems need

Again it seems even here on the "ALterNet" blogg as with all media, the candidates are being pushed with either the most money or that align themselves with the primary directive in the underlying plans that have been put in place by the neocon/Bush heads.

In order to gain the kind of votes needed by an opposing party, i.e: the democrats, many, many republican votes must change their predispositions and vote democrat. They will not vote for Hillary or Obama. It's plan and simple as that. If the democratic party continues this push of "those" candidates, and if the media, including the likes of Alternet, don't start giving creedence to the other candidates like Dodd, Kucinich, Biden etc. in the primaries, then the any power that might be gained in 2008 by the demo's may very well be nullified by the lack of congressional support to reverse the obsurd obsticles the Bush head has put in place.

I mean here the Constitution and the Military Commissions Act, the "patriot" ACT. ( and of course the whole middle east foreign policy which is as the people all understand is about oil under the guise of terrorism) .
All the content of these types of ogmentations to the fabric of the Constitution and the whole idea of democracy, undermind the same. If no candidate makes any effort to correcting these in their term terrony will be ingrained in the nation and the United States will never return to the people.

The direction pushed by thepowers that bein directing the present and future path this nation is heading, and dragging the world, is toward absolute kaos and a battle of the peoples of the world against a military world domination.

VOTE KUCINICH

Bush was not just lying. He was rushing to start war before NIE
Posted by: amacd on Dec 6, 2007 7:02 PM

The question of the day seems to be, “What did the president know? When did he know it? And most importantly, why did he keep talking war with Iran?”

It is now established that Bush knew in July/August that something big was about to change regarding Iran intelligence, and that the long delayed, but forthcoming NIE report would expose new information that would reduce any justification for preemptive attack on Iran.

The Bush explanation of events is roughly as follows:

1. The top secret briefing to Bush (and Cheney) last summer by his own Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell, suggested that hard to refute new information might dramatically change their position on the reality of any Iranian nuclear threat, but that McConnell would not share with his two bosses what that might be, and that Bush and Cheney did not ask.

2. That during the late summer and fall of 2007, Bush (and Cheney) kept up their attack language on Iran, and as the MSM now says, “didn’t tone down the rhetoric”, simply because they did not know that any NIE intelligence change would justify changing their posture, and because they had not even bothered to ask McConnell to be sure that they might be ‘talking the wrong trash’, and that they were not concerned that they might be made to look like alarmist fools later, when the NIE report was released.

3. That the reason why Bush and Cheney did what they did, and kept threatening war with Iran is that they did not want to interfere with the intelligence community on this sensitive issue, and that talking this way --- even in the likelihood of dramatic intelligence to the contrary --- was simply the best way to apply purely ‘diplomatic pressure’ to Iran and had nothing to do with any rumored attempts to actually launch a massive air attack with US nuclear cruise missiles on Iran before the truth came out

An alternative analysis of the past patterns, psychology, motivations and foreign influences on Bush and Cheney that might just possibly be more rational and intelligent than the ‘suspension of disbelief’ that would be necessary to believe the about insane explanation of Bush and Cheney is the following:

1. Yes, Bush and Cheney were briefed in July/August by McConnell, who they immediately yelled at and intimidated into telling them the irrefutable evidence that Iran was no threat. Then Bush and Cheney pressured their underling to delay this real intelligence long enough to take action before it came out.

2. Bush and Cheney did not only continue their tough talk on Iran, but DRAMATICALLY increased the pressure to ‘Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran’ to the point of getting McCain to sing their song --- and more importantly giving Kyl and Lieberman time to pass their Senate Iran amendment, which (by a 76 to 23 vote on Sept 26) secured BI-PARTISAN support for any Iran attack.

And then by pure coincidence, right after the Kyl-Lieberman (AIPAC drafted) bill had passed by a wide margin, two strange things happened:

A. Israel launched a surprise air attack on a supposed Syrian nuclear facility, and

B. On the very same week, low and behold a US B-52 with six ACM cruise missiles armed with W80 nuclear warheads of exactly the type that were called for in the CONPLAN 8022 to attack Iran’s nuclear sites happened to ‘accidentally’ get through an air tight failsafe locked procedure and were not reported ‘missing’ for more than 24 hours.

Neither the Israeli air attack on Syria nor the missing B-52 with nuclear missiles have either been seriously explained or resolved, despite multiple cover stories and unexplainable inconsistencies.

3. It is incredibly obvious that the ‘Why’ of Bush and Cheney’s ‘What did they know? When did they know it? And WHY they pushed fast for WAR

The US(BUSH)attack on Iraq and the so-called war on Terror was based on wrong and concocted intelligence. This WAR,which continues, has cost several hundred billion dollars to american economy and in terms of human cost: about 4000 american military lives, another 50000 seriouly injured. This excludes those americans who died and injured among the US private agencies contracted to assist in the Iraq War.More than a million and a half innocent IRAQI's have died SO FAR and several millions more injured and made homeless. This war continues despite opposition of a majority of voters simply because Bush and his Neo-con's believe it would bring glory and benefits to the americans. Also that it would make G.W.Bush presidency famous in history.

Bush and his war mongering gang of neo-cons,also want to attack Iran because that country is reported to be manufacturing nuclear weapons despite contrary intelligence reports. This adventure is also planned to make Bush and his Gang famous.

THIS CALLS FOR A WARNING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO BE ON GUARD.BUSH IS CAST PERHAPS IN THE SAME MOULD AS OMAHA SHOOTER, ROBERT HAWKINS,WHO YESTERDAY(DECEMBER 6.2008) KILLED SCORES OF INNOCENT FELLOW AMERICANS SHOPPERS IN A DEPARTENTAL STORE BECAUSE HE WANTED TO BECOME FAMOUS.
PLEASE DEAR AMERICANS TAKE CARE.CHECK THIS MAN,YOUR PRESIDENT,WHO TOO IS HUNGRY FOR FAME FOR WAR WHICH INEVITABLY KILLS INNOCENT PEOPLE,AMERICANS AS WELL AS NON-AMERICANS.

I've always believed that in order to call someone a Liar I must have substantial proof!! Which generally means that I have to be able to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that the accusations I am making have strong merit. It is pathetic to listen to every Bush hater here throw slanderous comments about him in regards to the nuclear issue in Iran when none of you work in a position that allows you acces to viable information. Two well known Liberal agencies just released information this morning AGREEING with Bush that the NIA was too lenient and they believe he is still a threat.... Listen, it's not about loving or hating someone... I am just one who is sick and tired of all the supposed experts we have on national security who work a mundane job in some cubicle at an office in some unkown highrise!! I believe that an intellectual person must ALWAYS maintain an open mind so that we can allow further information to be passed through our thought process IN CASE the original information isn't as accurate as the information we receive from other sources. It's not whether I am for or against Bush as much as it is I am tired of all of our SNAPPY judgements which we make based solely on a hatred we have and not on actual FACTUAL data!! So what are the REAL experts saying.. Well if you READ the newspapers and watch the news ALL THE TIME, you will find the TRUTH there!! Here is where the U.N. Watchdog's admit, along with other agencies that THEY DON'T KNOW!!! They've lost their intelligence on the inside and can't PROVE if they are still enriching uranium that is weapons grade. Here's the link: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/11/15/iran.nuclear/ PLUS, listen, if there is any of you out there that thinks the Iran government loves you, you'd best wake up!! come out from behing your brick and morter and smell the open air every once in a while. Their is people in foriegn countries that have such a hatred for you that it's worse than the hatred you have for Bush! believe it or not, 9/11 was your wake up call. The problem is it was so long ago to some of you that you have forgotten that some of these people will even kill themselves just to take you with them... So tell me, how much do you really have to hate someone to where you would take your own life just to make sure you killed someone else?? Do you genuinely believe that this type of hatred just goes away?? If so, we're worse off here in America under our blanketed protection than I originally thought....
