For those of you who enjoyed the devastation that the Bush Administration unloaded on America through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the K Street Project, you're going to love the Extreme Makeover going on over at your new Department of Justice. Where justice stems from the eye of The Decider.

You might think that dragging around an approval rating lower than that of a flatulent weasel crashing a preschool prophylactic pageant, President Bush would be handicapped in accumulating another stash of clueless roommates, obscure toadies and party hacks to fill important government posts, but you my friend, would have another think coming. Even in his position as the lamest of ducks, the Prez remains steadfast in his two term mission to replace experienced professionals with the wretched excesses of party flackery, or more precisely -- a reflection of him.

The story so far: say you're a good Republican afflicted with a problem U.S. Attorney who has not demonstrated proper exuberance whilst prosecuting Democratics near election time or one who refuses to apologize for stepping on a few big contributor toes, well don't you worry your pretty little head, because a single call to the Attorney Weasel, Alberto Gonzalez, and you got yourself a slack jawed partisan lackey waiting to fill the offending prosecutor's shoes. With Kleenex.

Eight U.S. Attorneys have been fired without explanation despite positive internal performance reviews. And most have been or are on track to be replaced with candidates whose major qualifications is knowing the correct response to the Republican Party's "Jump!" command is to inquire "How high?" Head Toady Karl Rove undoubtedly has an basement assembly line stamping out a series of clones learning his sinister brand of myopic kowtowing as we speak.

Apparently the fact that these guys have less experience with the law than your average IHOP early bird shift manager is a good thing. Can't teach an old dog new suck ups. Although many potential replacements must have gained valuable experience from being called as character witnesses for the defense in Scooter Libby's recent trial.

Some of those fired, I'm sorry, let go, or rather, victims of partisan duty management were warned not to talk to the press or risk retaliation such as the further trashing of their reputation. Who knows what diabolical measures these fiendish minds might conceive? Possible links to Joseph Biden? Or having Robert Novack disclose connections to such anti- American movements as law school?

In the old days, before the threat of terrorism loomed over everything in this country like a rain gutter over an ant farm during monsoon season, the administration needed Senate approval for appointing new U.S. attorneys, but snuck a provision into the Patriot Act allowing the Attorney General to appoint new federal prosecutors at his discretion. "Checks and balances? We don't need no stinking checks and balances."

You'd think if anybody, the Department of Justice would be immune from politics. You know -- justice -- moral integrity. Rightness. I'm thinking someone became fixated on the left hand part of that word. Totally forgot about the people's justice. By, for and of the people. But these are the new days. When even an Easter egg hunt can be politicized. And the Department of Justice can become the Department of Just Us. And that us, don't include you or me.

I fear the fact that there are no comments posted means people are accepting the dire state of our government as the new "normal". We are outraged fatigued... we can't cope with the awful news that keeps coming at us... we wonder, will it ever end? Many wrote books after the 2000 election (when votes were not counted in FL) and the appointment of GW by the Supreme Court, that it was epochal to the United States. They were soooo right!

anyway, when i'm feeling depressed about the generally dilapidated appearance of reality, i gaze upon my photoprint of mussolini, hanging by his heels, bullet-riddled and strung up by partisans.

There is outrage at everything that this president and his hacks have done, but the above comments says it all - more precisely --a reflection of him." That is how dictators work, they surround themselves with people who say yes, who fall on their swords when asked to, and are expendable when necessary without any change in the status quo, because there is always another hack waiting in the background.

Don't believe it, take a look at the DOD - the generals and admirals who disagree get replaced by those who agree; younger officers are not reenlisting, but are resigning their commissions if they can; Rummy is out, Gates is in because he supports a surge. Any semblace of a strong military has gone the way of the dinosaur in this country, and that is what Bush wants so his goons from Blackwater can pick up the slack when he declares martial law! What happened to soldiers and military leaders who had backbones and refused unlawful orders? Oh, yeah, they retired.

Get a clue, dictators love syncophants and they do not care about laws or rule of law or justice. They are like over-indulged children - I want it nooowwww! and Do it my way, or I'll make you go away! It has been that way throughout history, and as our nation falls, so it will be with us. The only thing that will change this course is for the citizens of this nation and the retired and active duty military to form an alliance and remove this government and replace it with one that respects this Constitution.

Thomas Jefferson once wrote "That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." In case you missed this part, it was in the Declaration of Independence and it was written in 1776. 231 years ago, and the words are as true today as they were then. America, it is no longer time for endless debates in Congress that lead nowhere. We are being destroyed from within, and it is time to affect a change, since elections did not do so last November.

It is time for change. Are you willing to change, America, to sacrifice so that this nation can be re-born into a new Democracy once again, or are you too complacent to want to be bothered?

The pleasure of the president. Heard that often enough the last few days. Isn't that what whores do, give pleasure. Well if I am not getting any pleasure why should ol' George get any? He had his whores throw out the constitution and the bill of rights now he wants to fire all the less dedicated whores who are not giving enough pleasure or who spit it out, instead of swallowing. Life is rough when your King of the Ream.

It's also time to finally peel the "ignorance" label off George Bush. It seem unlikely that he was completely ignorant of all the underhanded dealings of his staff.

He shouldn't only be "held accountable' for what happened under his watch, he should also be exposed for full knowledge and culpability of these "impeachable/traitorous" acts.

Let's stop treating George Bush as a complete idiot and realize that he may only be half idiot and the other half ..... perhaps a devious, immoral, nasty, bully who is easily led to seek revenge against anyone who searches for the truth.

It's not just Cheney and Rove. The true villains are the troika of Bush, Cheney, and Rove.

The only way to get to the bottom of all this is to send the Bush Administration to one of those "secret" overseas prisons and use torture on them all until they finally confess to all their crimes --- from A to Z.
