A DJ was fined for playing NWA's classic "Fuck Tha Police" at a bar in Westfield, Massachusetts reports MassLive.

On October 17, Kashawn Harris (who spins under the name DJ Boogy) allegedly put on the song while police were attempting to clear out Shenanigans Pub, in Westfield, Massachusetts, which they say was over capacity.

The MassLive story quotes Officer Juanita Mejias report of the incident.

I believed at that time the combination of alcohol, the excessive amount of people in the bar and the song that the DJ chose to play at that time was an intentional act by the DJ to incite the crowd [that] showed a reckless disregard for public safety.

Harris told MassLive that inciting a riot was never his intent. "I had no intention of inciting a riot," Harris said, "It was just college kids having fun. For them to even think I was trying to start riots was frustrating for me. That's not my kind of background, that's not where I come from."

Harris contends he only played a snippet of the song and had it cued up before officers even arrived. He also says the pub was cleared out shortly after the cops showed up.

On March 11, Harris was found responsible for disorderly conduct and ordered to pay a $50 fine.

Straight Outta Compton, a biopic on NWA that became the surprise blockbuster of 2015, shows how their concerts frequently ran the risk of being shut down by local police officers.
