U.S. forces killed six Iraqi security personnel north of Baghdad on Wednesday, Iraqi officials said, in an incident which the American military said was a case of "mistaken fire."

The shooting erupted at a joint Iraqi police and army checkpoint in the town of Tarmiyah at around 5:00 am (0200 GMT) Wednesday, interior and defense ministry officials said.

The U.S. military confirmed the incident and said there was an exchange of fire between the coalition and Iraqi forces when its troops were conducting operations against Al-Qaeda.

It gave no immediate confirmation of the death toll.

"It is always regrettable when incidents of mistaken fire occur on the battlefield," the military said in a statement.

"A review of the circumstances is under way."

Is 'US Forces' Always Ours? China Deal?Revenge

First, having lived with the Twisted Spun Rhetoric for the last 30 yrs, I gotta confirm when the term 'US Forces' is used, does that Always Mean OUR Military...Or does that now include Blackwater, Operating with in OUR Armed Services?
Seems this Incident happens on the heels of a Deal the Iraqi's made with the Chinese. Does that deal negate Western Oil Corps from Controlling Iraq Oil Fields? Does that mean the Iraqi's will Not be Selling their Rights to Their natural Resources Like Our Gov't did nearly a century ago. Boy I bet that made the Oil Royals in the UAE and their minions of the Oil industry a little Pissed.
Having had so much time and so many rotations thru Iraq, Training their police & Military...I gotta wonder how they suddenly could not identify these Iraq's...Try Uniforms? How did these Iraqi's mistake the 'US Forces' and fire back, and didn't Try to indicate Who they were to 'US Forces'.
And of all the Violence that has only surfaced in the media, long after the event, why did this story come out so fast? Was it a Threat, a Warning to not only Iraqi's but the rest of the World , 'needless Deaths Could Escalate' ..if need be.
Bet the Iraqi's are going to treat our Soldiers Great over there Now!'Making Friends & Influencing People'.How many more will be 'Greeted with flowers' At Arlington Cemetary because of this "Mis identification" lethal action?
Paranoid, not when everything that comes out from this Admin, and the Media has been proven a lie for Years!
There is more to this story- and a zillion others... Oh Only if we had investigative Reporters and a FREE 'PRESS'( papers, TV, Internet)!!!

...wonder what would have happened had the Iraqis "mistakenly" opened fire on US troops, would it still be "friendly fire"?

This noble USofA wouldn't accidentally shoot six people on purpose unless maybe Cheney had something to do with it - was there any drinking going on???
