If Gen. Petraeus says things are rosy, they are. Questioning his integrity is an attack on all the men and women who serve in our military. The same holds true for the brave Army investigators who, when confronted with the evidence surrounding Lavena Johnson's death, ruled it a suicide.

The photographs revealed that Lavena, a small woman, barely 5 feet tall and weighing less than 100 pounds, had been struck in the face with a blunt instrument, perhaps a weapon stock. Her nose was broken and her teeth knocked backwards. One elbow was distended. The back of her clothes had debris on them indicating she had been dragged from one location to another. The photographs of her disrobed body showed bruises, scratch marks and teeth imprints on the upper part of her body. The right side of her back as well as her right hand had been burned apparently from a flammable liquid poured on her and then lighted. The photographs of her genital area revealed massive bruising and lacerations. A corrosive liquid had been poured into her genital area, probably to destroy DNA evidence of sexual assault.

Despite the bruises, scratches, teeth imprints and burns on her body, Lavena was found completely dressed in the burning tent. There was a blood trail from outside a contractor's tent to inside the tent. She apparently had been dressed after the attack and her attacker placed her body into the tent and set it on fire.

Steven Green and Uday Hussein both committed the same crime, so why is the media's treatment of them so different?

God bless Lavena and her family. If there is a God, such injustice does not go by unpunished, including the military enablers.

If she was raped/killed by a contractor it's legal for them to do that, or it's an unenforcable law because that's the way that whole deal works. It's called a law-free zone.

It's kind of a question of accountability. We don't have any. Also, lying is legal as all get out in the U.S., I mean c'mon Bush showed us all how that's done, and now his methodology is mimicked all over state and federal governments.

I thought the U.S. was going to enforce some kind of rules for contractors in Iraq, but I think it was only to keep them from indiscrimanately shooting anything they wanted to. I think rape is still ok though. Not much you can do as a woman except keep yourself locked in your bunker or stay out of Iraq.

And we are discussing Why Gays' Can't Join?

the question should be whether we should allow heterosexual males to join.
Seems the current adage in the military and in the nation at large is..Just kill her. During the Hearing last week about whether 'Don't Ask,Don't tell' should be scraped. The homophobe woman who did not want Gays in the military at all kept claiming 'Sexual intimidation' that may be experienced by the heterosexuals.Seems to me they are the Ones we should be weeding Out!they are unable to conduct themselves as professional, they cause sexual intimadation, They are a danger not only to the psyche of the Group, but to individual cohorts.
this admin and their accomplices in the Pentagon have practiced 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' when it comes to criminal activities and Violent behavior (past & Present) by heterosexual males.
Congressional hearing should have already begun regarding the Pentagons , recruitment, enlistment and psychological testing of those who they intend to hand a Gun too, and grant their unweavering protection of.
Just as have been proven in local Law enforcement actions- Not everyone who joins the military are doing so for Patriotic reasons- the Power, the ability to Kill without retribution. these are the cause of Abuse of power in all levels of Enforcement. Not only should these murders stand trial for their crimes but those in the Pentagon should for 2nd degree murder, Reckless Endangerment and disregard for Human life- with forethough and Knowledge. If they are unable to appropriately evaluate an individual, then they certianly are unfit to evaluate a national Threat correctly!
