Democratic Rep. Van Hollen to Rove: "You've Tried to Revise History" [VIDEO]

Posted by Cliff Schecter, Brave New Films at 4:00 AM on December 3, 2007.

Karl Rove is quite simply a sociopath. He has no shame, no compassion, no concern for those he's hurt or care for the truth. And he's been an complete and utter failure in his role in government.

This man is quite simply a sociopath. He has no shame, no compassion, no concern for those he's hurt or care for the truth. And he's been an complete and utter failure in his role in government.

Andy Card, Chief of Staff for the Bush Junta while Rove was there, and Ari Fleischer, Bush's spokesman, just recently called Rove a liar because of his ridiculous claim that Congress, and not the President, wanted the Iraq War vote to come before the 2002 election (of course, don't take Card and Fleischer's word for it, look at or listen to ANYTHING from that time period).

Yesterday morning he added to his ignominy and lied about Tom Daschle personally, and Democratic Congressman Chris Van Hollen slapped down his silliness with ease.

Please, Karl, go back on the lithium, or how about just crawling back into whatever sewer you slinked out of this morning?

The simple reality is that Rove is the living, walking, breathing caricature of a slime-oozing used car salesman. And his Iraq lemmon ain't selling.

" -- Andy Card, Chief of Staff for the Bush Junta while Rove was there, and Ari Fleischer, Bush's spokesman, just recently called Rove a liar ..."

The word "liar" doesn't appear on the page linked to from the words "just recently called Rove a liar"; neither does the name "Ari Fleischer."

WTF, AlterNet?

It just flabbergasts me that this bloated gasbag skates away from every mud puddle he pisses in. This nazi son of a bitch keeps flaunting his get-out-of-jail card and his adversaries empower him up by treating him like a gentleman. The previous post is right on: why the hell don't my elected officials start calling him out--this man is a liar at best, and no one wants to go on record calling his spade.

Sheesh!

I loved Chris Wallaces attempt at damage control for the Bush Admin: Rove is getting poned by some nameless dem and Wallace steps in and tries to end the embarassment by first trying to say "why do we have to look back at who started it" and then shutting down the discsussion unilaterally. Rove is so clueless he doesn't even know he is having his ass handed to him and tries to keep the topic alive!

A pathological liar. Also a war criminal and a terrorist who has committed treason against our country.

This whole event is his pattern. Say something completely outrageous then spin it like crazy to confuse everyone. It has always worked for him before, now he seems unable to stop himself. Wow. Crash and burn on national TV.

Like an insecure child who's had a taste of the spotlight, this smarmy, dangerous mini-neocon wants more, and of course he gets it from your lapdog MSM. The more coverage he and those like him get or are allowed, the greater the impact on your upcoming election, (check out the rove memo to Obama, carried in today's Financial Times, and try to understand why it's there, and what's really going on). Such tactics are, at the least, attempts to throw a wrench into the Dem campaign, as well as to regain and cement the loyalty of the still huge mass of unaware, oblivious righties, and maybe even make a few converts in the bargain.

Your MSM is failing, or duping, you yet again. They're directed to push anything 'safe' that will interest the less aware masses, and they feed it to 'reporters' like pablum, who then simply spew it out, using up invaluable opportunities to investigate and educate, and ignoring the truly important crimes taking place in the ongoing rape and pillage of your republic and your rights.

You may think this is okay, because more and more people are becoming aware, or so you've been told (maybe check the sources). Yet the game goes on, with your corrupt neocorp leadership - ably supported by the MSM - apparently doing whatever they wish in their effort to consolidate power in their masters' and friends' hands for the long term (that's decades, folks).

You need to somehow stop the MSM from being party to the criminality and lies, and their coverage of nonsense instead of the real, urgent problems. Like it or not, that's where the huge majority of your society still gets their 'news', and, yes, they still tend to accept and believe what they're told.

I'm not sure how helpful posts like these are. We're all aware of Rove's latest outrageous lie, and of the personality of the man. All this post is really doing is indulging in a poorly spelled outburst of name-calling.

This seems to be part of a general trend at Alternet lately: far too many of the postings fail to have substance.

I noticed at the beginning of the clip, Rove says twice, "Do you have to touch me?" He seems phobic. Anyone have any idea what a phobia about being touched reveals about a person. Any real insights into this deeply disturbed and disturbing man are welcome.

but rather a well-paid political hatchet man for this administration.

He's a weasel and always has been. Just ask anyone who saw him in action in Texas. The nasty turn politics have taken over the past seven years is because of his actions. No one is more sleazy.

The Problem is...
Posted by: ianfan on Dec 3, 2007 11:32 AM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
...these guys actually think they doing the right thing. Rove and these other guys actually think what they are doing is patriotic and in the best interest of a country that does not know well enough to keep itself from destruction. They are convinced that the ends justifies the means.

Problem is that we never have that conversation. We never have the debate about whether we are a nation of laws or men. We don't have the debate on Machiavllian principles. We don't define what American values are in an objective sense and then compare them to the actions that these guys believe is best for the country.

People have been so comfortable for so long, they seem to think that holding onto that comfort is the point of America. From that POV, it's easy to go along with these people who believe there is a great threat that our Constitution is not up to the task of facing, even if you aren't paying attention to the fact that that is what they are saying.

If you actually got these guys to have the honest arguement, that they do not believe in the core values of our democracy, but instead think we face a unique and overwhelming threat to our very existance that requires the rule of a single man over law (the unitary executive theory) to save us.

If this arguement was framed to show how anti-American and anti-democratic and...plainly...how much cowardice there is in this POV, I think the public just might get back onboard with our true principles.

Good luck on that one...

Why doesn't Van Hollen simply let tell him that he is a sleazy asshole culpable for the deaths of hundreds of thousands and walk off set? It's been shown over and over that civil discourse and discussion isn't possible, so what's the problem in letting him know what an anti-human being he is? What could possibly be lost isn't already gone? Not only would you get tell a dick head to fuck off which is always satisfying but you'd also remind people that balls and justice always go hand in hand. You know when good men do nothing and all that. You don't have to be violent, but nothing is accomplished without aggression.

Did ANYONE listen and HEAR that his "EVIDENCE" had NO REFERENCE TOPIC BUT DATES? BESMIRCHING DASCHEL
Posted by: Prairie Waif on Dec 3, 2007 3:00 PM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Listen to that again.

Rove talks about Dashele wanting to meet with the President to take the vote. He doesn't say IN FAVOR of the WAR, just "the vote."

He continues to back up the "BIG LIE" by giving "FALSE PROOF" to the America THAT IS NOT MEDIA savvy enough to notice the trickery in how he DELIVERS his lie.

On, "this date, he again asked to meet with the President saying it was important to take a vote." Sure, but to take the vote FOR WHAT???

NOT ONCE does ROVE, ever mention why DASHELE wants to meet with the President regarding a vote, or even WHAT the vote is to be ABOUT.

He MAKES IT APPEAR OFFICIAL to the minions who watch FAUX TEEVEE and think it is REAL NEWS by having a "DOCUMENT" that he is "reading from the 'official' records" off of to the others on the panel. NO ONE CALLS HIM OUT, at least in the segment we were able to view.

Rove has his propaganda techniques from Goebbels memorized and puts them to use well.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
Herman Goering-Convicted Nazi War Criminal at the Nuremberg Trials (1946 April 18)

Mr. Schecter:

Lithium has absolutely nothing to do with sociopathy. If you had taken the trouble to inform yourself, you'd know that. Instead you've pulled the "crazy" card, perpetuating a long history of misinformation about people with mood disorders and implying that as a group people on lithium are like Rove. Don't link Rove to people who take lithium. They don't deserve it.

P.S. You should apologize.
