Fact: We Tortured to Justify War

There simply is no good reason why the leading members of the Bush administration should not stand trial.

Many of us realized a while ago that the real purpose of all the torture Bush and Cheney ordered was to elicit false information of an al Qaeda/Saddam connection that would justify an invasion of Iraq, an obsession of the Cheney circle that predated 9/11. But Joe Conason has written an especially compelling essay laying out the evidence piece by piece.

There simply is no good reason why the leading members of the Bush administration who ordered, justified, and implemented torture should not stand trial. And many good reasons why they should.

Digg!

9/11 gave torture a dark justification, hollywood/MSM gave it HD resolution.

The link to Conason's article is useless to most since it requires a Premium Membership. That is not the idea behind free exchange of information and doesn't belong here.

Besides we all know that the whole 911 thing was a pre-planed excuse for war. Their cronies needed/wanted more money, and the chimp and pals wanted more power over us. They wanted to see how far outside of the law they could get. They are criminals and belong in a hot, remote place, with large rocks, small hammers and bread and water for the rest of their lives. And even that is too good for them.

Well, there one very big reason why the Bush Torture League will not be brought to justice: the Washington Establishment, of which Obama, apparently, is now a member. No matter how loud we shout, the wagons have circled across the Potomac once again.

No matter how heinous the crime, modern Washington watches out for its own. It happened with Nixon/Watergate with the preëmptive pardon, which led to Iran/Contra, where Reagan was let off the hook thanks to a selectively bad memory, which led to the Bush abuses, where he and his henchmen are about to be let off the hook – again. And, just as each coverup led to greater abuses, the reluctance to prosecute Bush, et al., by the Obama administration will virtually guarantee that abuse of power by our government will happen in the future, and will be worse next time – if that's possible.

To realize where we are heading, just try to imagine that the Nuremburg Trials never took place, because the world preferred to only look ahead. Try to imagine what Germany – and Israel – would be like today without those prosecutions and the public repudiation of the Nazi Party.

Can You Say 'Spanish Inquisition'?

Torture,Rendition,Black Site Prisons and Hit squads are all INTERNATIONAL Crimes, committed against citizens of other nations- so far.
There is not one facet of our Gov'tal institutions which has not been implicated- The military,CIA,FBI,Both Houses of Congress, DOJ, SCOTUS (Scalia's Torture v Punishment circular logic), The Office of the Presidency...All are implicated as complicit, if not directly culpable.
It's an outrage that the Players and the MSM continue to Try to delude, and distract, the American people that this is merely a Domestic issue.'Truth commission'? Run by who? this is ridiculous, not even Our citizens would accept the 'findings',let alone the Global community. "Special Prosectuor"- Named by Holder? And who might that be- another Ken Starr? Please even more ridiulous-that will undoubtedly be seen as 'hand picked', thus purely political. Starr, Fitzgerald, Gonzales, Scalia,Yoo, Beybee,The AG firings...Who the Hell Trust any Lawyer at any level? People have the same long standing mistrust of the Law Profession as they do the CIA!
Only cases which directly involve our citizens are eligible for US prosectuion (deeper look into the allegations and death of the Anthrax 'mad' scientist?)and the Crimes of Abuse of Power and Treason. The rest is under th ejurisdicition of the Interantional Courts- Individually or collectively.
Obama Released the Torture memos- Photos have already surfaced, now we are watching Perfect interrogation methods in progress- Keep talking DICK. "No Regrets", "Authorized"- confession to ordering torture. The President only knew "Basically" what was taking place- confession to Usurping Presidential powers.
In fact we should give the Right wing Media (Hannity,Wallace..) a medal of honor for gaining 'actionable' evidence without the use of torture- heckova Job boys! That's exactly how you do it- give the sense of security, rapport, agreement and empathy and the guilty will tell you everything you need to know.Come on Hannity ask DICK about who he had 'Whacked' and let him Boastfully justify his crimes for another hour. I'm betting if Bhouto was on that list the Pakistanis could make the Spanish Inquisition methods look like a playful game of 'Slap & Tickle'.
Give US an Arrest Warrant Internationals and we'll send these 'Red Rovers' Right over.

I condemn torture and anyone that had anything to do with it. Let's not take blame for the crimes against humanity directed by the Bush/Cheney ad goons. "They" must be brought to justice through our courts, unless we don't make it happen.

my phone rang. It was a telephone conference with my local Representative. I posed a question about pursuing prosecution of the Bush gang (not in those words)but at least my Representative knows how I feel. What a coincidence.
