In the fervor surrounding the McCain -- Palin presidential ticket, 'values voters' concoct 'Obama Waffles' in an effort to rally the conservative base to reject Barack Obama. The question is: is it in good taste?

UPDATE: The Brooklyn Comedy Company has already posted a video response here, part of their series, "This Week in Blackness." Comedian Elon James White hosts.

They'll be laughing out the other side of their mouths if Obama sues. I hope he does. I realize it's not against the law to use a politicians likeness in satire, or a news story, but using it without permission in a "commercial" way for money, I think, is not legal.

...should NOT attempt "satire." This is way beyond offensive. Their attempt to defend it by comparing it to Paul Newman's products was disgusting.

So is this what the extras from "Deliverance" are doing to make ends meet these days?

kind of hard to dress up the party of rich white imperialist elites and a bunch of stupid hicks and inject any element of humor into that, except when they are being laughed at...

For centuries editorial cartoonists have been satirizing presidential candidates using caricatures. Because Obama is black, does this mean he's off limits to cartoonists? No! Is this another "pig with lipstick" non-issue? Yes.

This is another case of making an issue of something that distracts us from the real issue or question: Is Obama a waffler? I would say emphatically, yes. Like every Democrat or Republican presidential candidate, Obama is subject to the pressures of conforming to the corporate media and corporate interests.

Any idealism he may have had in the Illinois Statehouse is gone. The same goes for McCain! The will of the people be damned! How do you like them waffles?

peace

Do these repulsive fat white men remind anyone else of the murder of the civil-rights workers in Mississippi over 40 years ago? They are look alikes for the southern cops and KKK types that still haunt our memories.

Is it funny? Yes
Is it racism? No
Is it in good taste? No
Lies? Yes

I would have rather seen on the box more about the issues. These guys just continue to spread lies and rumors with out looking at the facts....

I'm guessing these 2 jumped on an idea they thought would make some money and didn't realize they were being insensitive. I think they are genuinely surpised at the allegations of racism. It's an example of what social isolation from minority cultures does to members of the dominant culture. They think it's funny - that's all.

The legacy of the Civil War

Has continued to poison the minds and everyday thinking of millions of our citizens who, you would think, would know better after all these years. The Civil War was fought to preserve the union and crush a sick, cruel society based on the enslavement of fellow human beings. States' rights were never a factor; the eradication of a deep evil was. Even today, some sick and ignorant people have so little regard for themselves that they have to feel superior to someone, ANYONE. Guess who's handy?

They seem so impressed with their idea, but oblivious and ignorant and probably members of the KKK. SOMEBODY SHOULD SUE THEM SO THAT THEY LEARN not to be SOOOOOOOOO STUPID. They are racist.

The comedy skit that followed was very intelligent and to the point.
