What's Wal-Mart so afraid of? They're up to their old tricks, using scare tactics to intimidate employees against supporting pro-worker candidates. So what's got them backed into a corner? Four words: Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA).

EFCA would effectively enable workers to unionize and secure contracts without fear of being fired or reprisals from union-busting companies like Wal-Mart. It's a crucial bill for workers' rights. It could single-handedly restore the middle class. And it's the reason we've partnered with American Rights at Work to bring you our latest video.

Send this video to every person who cares about fairness and wants a middle class in America, and get them to sign the petition to ensure that EFCA passes. And while you're at it, let your friends know about Meet the Bloggers because today at 1pm ET/10am PT, our special guests SEIU President Andy Stern and AFL-CIO President John Sweeney will be discussing the importance of EFCA with bloggers Baratunde Thurston (JackandJillPolitics.com) and Michael Whitney (American Rights at Work).

Check out the articles below on EFCA, get informed, and join us on the show's live blog at 1pm ET/10 am PT, when we'll stand up to Wal-Mart, and stand up for workers' rights.

And if you missed any episode of Meet the Bloggers, you can also watch them in the archives.

Never step foot in anything WalMart again, the money you think you're saving comes at our immense expense, ultimately its a Chinese cash cow.
They call it Sam's Club for a reason, your membership is intendured and your savings wiped out Main Street to appease wall street.

The article doesn't mention to whom the petition will be presented. Bush? Secy of Labor? Wal-Mart CEO? SEIU? AFL-CIO?

I agree with the need for EFCA, but I want to know that it's going someplace where it will do the most good.

...was to order striking pilots back to work. Then he broke their union, AirLine Pilots Association (ALPA).

From that time--1980--the Republicans and other NeoCON-symps, made war on unions like never before. Today with wages falling like rocks off a cliff, it's hard to envision a time when people routinely brought home $20.00/hour.

My husband did, until recently when he retired. He did, ONLY BECAUSE HE BELONGED TO THE TEAMSTERS (He worked as a long-haul trucker.)

We got medical, vacation, all the major holidays, birthday--yes, his birthday--off. Plus the day that he joined the union back in 1986--that became a holiday too. A PAID holiday. He also has a pension which dovetails nicely with Social Security. THAT'S WHAT THE UNION DID FOR US.

THAT'S WHAT WAL*MART IS SO AFRAID OF. And yet--just like Yellow did--they'd make a fortune if they treated their people like people instead of low-wage slaves.

The times they are a-changing and the CONS are shaking in their shoes. Ignore them and vote for BARACK OBAMA for President, in 2008!
