Mediocrity or Zealotry..that's our choice..!

Any Progressive who though Obama was their Galahad will be deeply disappointed...

I for one never had this view of him at all he is more about the status quo than most people wanted to believe..

The question is if he is not seen as leading a movement either progressive or populist will he win at all..?

For me it is much more important to stop McCain than it is to fear being resigned to mediocre government and the continuation of the corporate oligarchy..

Mediocrity is much better than, Zealotry..!

And Alternet is a prime example of the back peddling from Progressive positions to support Obama.

Obama has retreated to DLC territory on just about every issue yet the Progressive Press gives him a pass.

The problem is, as all Progressives know, is that DLC positions will only postpone what McCain will do right away ... that is wreck the economy and lead us into more wars.

Ms. Klein is on-the-money in her analysis. There's no real change in the offing. It's delusional and deceptive. We've been duped again.

It's been my contention for over a year, and I've made my views widely known on this particular forum, that Senator Obama is just as much a part of the problem as Senator McCain. Neither is a good choice for the presidency. It's just a matter how one prefers their corporatism. Just as Mr. Olbermann qualifies his "worse, worser, and worst" finalists each evening, the selection of either senator as our next president falls along the same continuum. Pick your poison.

People need to realize that real change...substantiated change...will not occur from the top. There are too many gatekeepers and powerbrokers in the way for that to happen. It's going to have to happen the opposite way, at the grassroots level, and it's going to take time. It's not going to happen overnight, within the next ten years, or possibly even within the next generation. But, in order for it to happen, it needs to begin at the community level. It needs to begin at home.

Personally, as far as this bogus presidential race, I don't want to make a choice where I'm selecting the lesser-of-two-evils. I've done it too many times in the past. I will not do it any longer.

You go, Naomi! Brains & Beauty.
If I were Prez, I'd want her as my Press Secretary or Advisor.

Naomi is once again absolutely correct. Obama has to stop playing the old game of politics and come clean about his past decisions. Perhaps it should have been Hillary, but Kucinich would have been the ideal choice. Once again, the Dems may have screwed themselves again with this guy.

Naomi Kline Spells It Out - Check Out How UK NuLabour Govt Totally Betrayed Traditional Left
Posted by: opmoc on Aug 27, 2008 3:06 AM

In the UK there actually used to be a political choice. The Labour Governments of the 60's and 70's actually supported the interests of Labour versus Capital.

The NuLabour Blair Government completely trampled on the Left - the traditional support of the ordinary working man. In many respects NuLabour was even more Right Wing than the Conservatives.

The Left was left powerless - it thought it couldn't attack its own "labour" government - yet it gradually became obvious how Fascist Blair and his cronies were. They completely infiltrated and destroyed the Labour Party from within. Many life long labour party members resigned in disgust.

Naomi Kline puts the writing on the wall - as does Obama with his chosen team.

Without balance between the interests of Labour and Capital the end result is slavery and impoverishment followed by reaction and war.

The Left needs to get its act together and assert itself.

Obama is not in sync with progressives at all. Vote 3rd party

He betrayed us on FISA and now he wants to send more troops to Afghanistan. We will never win Afghanistan by throwing more troops at it. We will just get bogged down for years.

If just 5% of people voted 3rd party, then in 2012, that party would HAVE to be in the debates. It's the law. But they never rise to that because every election, the fearmongers come in and tell us that we must choose the lesser of two evils or we will be doomed.

I have voted in every Presidential election since 1980 and I am sick, sick, sick of this same old shit. I stopped playing their game and now vote my conscience. Voting your conscience is NOT a wasted vote. A wasted vote is casting one out of fear for one whom the elites tell you to. Cause let's face it, as this race has tightened, Obama has sounded less and less progressive. And look at his foreign policy team. All hawks.

For 3rd party we have Cynthia McKinney with the Greens and Nader and then Bob Barr with the Libertarians. I wish Nader would drop out and throw his support behind McKinney. The more consolidated the field, the better for the people.

Before he started sounding so hawkish, Obama threw a get out of jail free card to the telecoms. That's when he lost my vote.
