Rachel Maddow Spanks Joe Scarborough

Joe Scarborough is already pissing and moaning about the promotion of Rachel Maddow. Oh, he's not using her name, but earlier this morning he was griping that he got only around fifteen seconds of face time during last night's convention coverage, and claimed it was because he ticked off "a certain person."

It's no secret who that "certain person" is, and why he's holding a grudge:

Grow the hell up, Joe. You were pwn3d, and you know it.

You were pwn3d by someone you hate, and you hate her not just because she's gay, out and proud; and not just because she's smarter on her worst day than you on your best; and not just because she made you look like a fool on national television and got your goat. You hate her because she got your old timeslot, and because that liberal blowhard Keith Olbermann has the power at MSNBC, not you. And you hate her because you know that your party's ideology is one epic fail, you hitched your wagon to that fail, and now you look like a fool because Rachel Maddow is smarter than most people and effortlessly can rattle off all the ways your so-called "maverick" has proven to be a craven panderer whose lust for the presidency crawls like poison ivy over every fiber of his being.

Even Tweety has resigned himself to the inevitable, and while he'll never be president of the Rachel Maddow Awesomeness Appreciation Society (because I am), even he (along with everyone else on the MSNBC team) at least recognizes her gift with words after she came up with "post-rational" (which I hope becomes the new "truthiness") to describe the PUMA crazies.

So stamp your widdle feet, Joe, and let Mika and Willie and Mike Barnicle kiss your behind on the air for four hours every morning, and bemoan the fact that the mean old feminist lesbian is keeping you off prime time. And keep thinking that this somehow makes you a big man. I'm going to go make another batch of popcorn and watch over the next two weeks as Rachel mops the floor with you.

Digg!

All time greatest Scarborough quote
Posted by: fanny666 on Aug 26, 2008 11:49 AM
Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
A few weeks after the invasion if Iraq:

"I'm waiting to hear the words 'I was wrong' from some of the world's most elite journalists, politicians and Hollywood types.... I just wonder, who's going to be the first elitist to show the character to say: 'Hey, America, guess what? I was wrong'? Maybe the White House will get an apology, first, from the New York Times' Maureen Dowd. Now, Ms. Dowd mocked the morality of this war....

"Do you all remember Scott Ritter, you know, the former chief U.N. weapons inspector who played chief stooge for Saddam Hussein? Well, Mr. Ritter actually told a French radio network that -- quote, 'The United States is going to leave Baghdad with its tail between its legs, defeated.' Sorry, Scott. I think you've been chasing the wrong tail, again.

"Maybe disgraced commentators and politicians alike, like Daschle, Jimmy Carter, Dennis Kucinich, and all those others, will step forward tonight and show the content of their character by simply admitting what we know already: that their wartime predictions were arrogant, they were misguided and they were dead wrong. Maybe, just maybe, these self-anointed critics will learn from their mistakes. But I doubt it. After all, we don't call them 'elitists' for nothing."
(MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, 4/10/03)

And every time he opens his mouth he just proves it. It has come to the point where I won't watch anything the idiot does. He might as well be on Fox Noise for all the intelligent contribution he can make to any conversation.

He seems to think that shouting someone down is the way to make a point. Unfortunately there are many more of him on the TV screen than of Rachael. Thus we have a population whose education not only stops somewhere between kindergarten and the 5th grade but where ignorance is only reinforced by the news media who - by and large - serve only the interests of the wealthy elite who actually run the country. But why should this be a surprise? Who owns the media? Hello!!!!! Anyone paying attention knows better than to believe what they see/hear on CBS, NBC, MSNBC, Fox (news for the brain dead), or any of the others.

Never pay any attention to the network "news." They just spout the corporate message - nothing of substance - crime, disasters, celebrity crap, and latest movie $ figures. None of that BS is news.
I watch only local news - primarily for local weather. If Bush or his minions are picked up by local news, I switch to used car dealers immediately! They are more honest than Bush and company.

He wants to debate, but only if he can win the argument.
Next time just debate with Rachel in absentia. That way you can't lose.

Fact is that the MSM has been using double standards to judge the candidates by.
Example: Obama's former preacher goes a little extreme and the MSM freaks out.
McCain embraces hate-mongering Hagee and the press yawns.
The Fourth Estate is a disgrace.

And it was not the last time that Mourning Joe played the "I don't do Crossfire..." card!

That was this morning when he attacked David Shuster, an Emmy award winning MSNBC correspondent based in Washington...and I do mean attacked! Shuster was confronting Joe about his always defending "his" Republican Party's and the Bush Administration's anti-time-line stance, where they have ridiculed anyone (including Senator Obama) for suggesting that we set one.

The recent administration flip-flop where they actually DID negotiate a time line with Iraq (very similar to Obama's plan...hmmm?) to pull out the soldiers was punctuated by the recent al-Malaki call for the removal of the US troops. The fact that Nouri al-Malaki endorsed Obam's Iraq plans, and then this call from him to remove our troops apparently got to Old Mourning Joe who started lambasting the Iraqi government over their decision.

David Shuster, who was part of a panel this morning at the DNC, stepped in and challenged Joe to say that "he and his party" have been wrong to go after anyone who had suggested that a time line was the way to go. Joe became very flustered while Mika and Barney mugged to the cameras, and Shuster held his ground even when Joe chopped away at him personally for 3 apparently missed appearances on Morning Joe that Shuster had "slept through". Joe could not bring himself to say that he or his party had been wrong though...far from it. I hope that this exchange ends up on here while it is still fresh.

Regarding this rather stale clip that occurred a month of so ago, Rachel dissected Joe with such precision and without any hint of condescension. As can be seen on the final "predictions" portion of the show, Race for the Whitehouse, ol' Mourning Joe is nowhere to be found, as he had stormed off of the set in a tizzy, and I will bet that he was screaming about how he couldn't work with that bitch, 'cause that is just the kind of guy he is. Hey Joe, not every woman is going to bend over like meek lil' Mika if you start bullying them.

Rachel has had the last laugh since she now has her own show.

I wanted to share a letter I sent to 'ole Joe on Sept. 24, 2007. It was a heads up. I send him notes from time to time to give him advice.

Hey Joe,

Arrianna started her site after I blogged in AlterNet that she would be my press agent. I laid out a plan. I am a witch.

It is a great story, epic even. I shudder to think what Disney will make out of me. Towards controlling that eventually, I write my own story. I recommend looking my comments up in the deep freeze. Put some researcher on it who isn't too christian, it will take some time, maybe lots of tolerance.

The quick way to discover my story is to find one of my religious believers, I have followers. I recommend research over faith.

God send.

Lauren

There has been at least one study in grade schools where the girls were given (exactly) equal time to speak as the boys. The results were the boys felt they were not given enough time, certainly not equal time, and that they were treated unfairly. This suggests that boys get more time and expect more time to speak than girls do and are angry when the rules change.

Joe has not taken this to heart. That aside from the fact that he always treats Rachel dismissively. Does this extend to all women? Certain types of women? I don't watch his show and change the channel when Rachel isn't also on a panel. He is just such an overweening ass whenever I have seen him.

...points out the (not so latent) sexism inherent in all of us.
How far are we, really, from how our dads treated our mothers?

We still do not know what to do with strong women. They're scary!

I will say that I was astounded and very pleasantly surprised that the same network that subjects us to at least 3 hours of Joe Scarborough every morning is giving Rachel Maddow her own show. With a few more tweaks MSNBC could really be kick ass. I think David Shuster and Chuck Todd are hardworking, insightful and intelligent. Joe Scarborogh and the dim wits Mika and Willie really drag the network down. If you want to have a conservative voice Micheal Smerconish would have been a much better choice than that neanderthal Joe Scarborough- he is much more intelligent.

Good luck Rachel- your fans are rooting for you!

Please pardon my ignorance, but -- what does that mean? I can't figure it out...

As for the meat of this article, I agree: pity our local Air America outlet was nixed (1.2 ratings) for a sports format (0.0 rating - look it up: KLSD 1360 San Diego), so I can't hear her on the radio; but she is undeniably the progressive answer to the Wicked Witch of the Wight: attractive (a necessity in today's media unfortunately), eloquent, well prepared, sharp and on the point. And how I loved that somebody told one of the Others to not interrupt!!! They all seem to think they can just talk over the other person and not let them speak, so they win the point. When I was growing up that was called incivility and egregious bad manners, and I've allways been frustrated by the dolts who don't do what Rachel did here: "Excuse me, Joe, don't interrupt me when I'm making my point." HURRAH'S, RACHEL!!!

Just don't watch his show "The Romper Room." It's like watching a bunch of kindergarden kids. I tried to watch it when it first came on and after 3 mornings I quit and have never returned. Joe is obnoxious, Mica functions at elementary grade level and Poor Willie...he doesn't function and don't forget Barnicle who has never prepared for a show in his life; another lightweight. I also don't watch David Gregory's dribble when Joe is on there. Just go to another statiion and send MSNBC a message if they want to promote this mornon.

what a bunch of whiners you are

as a man in my eighth decade, a lifelong Democrat now Progressive, and avid viewer of MSNBC, l think I have the street cred to make these comments.
1. Joe is not a moron. or a Neanderthal. I used to watch him often following my ritual of Hardball and Countdown on MSNBC.I have not seen his morning show because I am not at home at that time of day. I disagree with him on almost all issues, but I found him to be one of the few on the right who would have lefty guests, listen to the opposite viewpoint and occasionally admit to a viewpoint of his own that fell to the left of center. if he were on FOX, he would be considered a liberal.
2. I 'discovered' Rachel Maddow in the earlist days of Air America Radio when no-one had ever heard of her. I pegged her then as a rising star, and even at that I underestimated. 'meteoric' is more like it. she earned and deserves her own show (although some of Dan Abrams was entertaining).
3. having said the above, Joe was absolutely right when he said that campaign wisdom is to define your opponent before he/she can define himself, thereby forcing him be defensive and maybe never quite recover. do we need any more proof than the 2004 election cycle? The right wing defined Kerry with a lie, and he was forced to defend himself, which he barely did, with the result being 4 more of the worst years in the history of our country.
4.almost of the comments ahead of mine spend their blog capital bashing Joe.all that name-calling does is show how juvenile they are. if you want to dis someone, attack their message, not who they are as a messenger. and if you want to criticize the messenger as a person, be specific. name -calling does not do it. so Joe, in this particular case, was correct, and the comments were juvenile and inappropriate, except they probably provided some emotional release for the writers.
5.considering all of the above, and although we Democrats like to think of ourselves as 'high road', we will certainly lose this election if:
(a) we do not hammer home, every day, OUR definition of John McCain. it's easy; all we have to do is tell the truth
(b) we allow the rotten right to define Obama, Biden or any other of our candidates
(c)we do not answer attack with attack.

now let's see if the juvenile name-calling whiners decide to attack me, too.

slumped next to a desk on the floor of Florida Republican Congressman Joe
Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach office where Lori had served as a

8:00 a.m. on Friday morning by a couple arriving for an appointment. She had
been dead for some time.
