Poor Little Rich Man: McCain Can't Remember How Many Mansions He Has

When we launched McCain's Mansions on Monday, we revealed how McCain's elitist lifestyle—10 multi-million dollar mansions, flying around the country in his wife's personal jet—has rendered him completely out of touch with hard-working Americans. Not only did the video make a huge splash, commanding over 200,000 views, but it continues to make waves.  The media is now putting McCain on the spot about his uber affluence, and as it turns out, McCain owns so many homes he doesn't even remember how many he owns!

In an interview with Politico yesterday, McCain couldn't recall just how many homes he has.  "I think — I'll have my staff get to you," McCain said. "It's condominiums where — I'll have them get to you."

Politico claimed McCain owns at least four, but Progressive Accountability declared that the McCains own at least ten properties worth a whopping $13,823,269 (h/t Ari).  As you would expect, the Obama campaign had a field day with McCain's gaffe, whipping together this ad claiming McCain has seven homes, then flashing a picture of the White House as "one house America can't afford to left John McCain move into."

The fact that this total varies ought to baffle McCain even further as the mainstream media frenzy begins.  But whatever the true total is, the bottom line is that McCain has so much wealth he has no concept of money—unless of course it's money from lobbyists and corporations or to buy more mansions.  That's why at Saturday's Saddleback forum McCain ludicrously declared it takes $5 million to move from "middle class" to "rich."  That's why he admitted economics isn't his strong suit and came up with a plan to sink our country even further into debt.  And that's why he can't sympathize with Americans facing foreclosure, soaring gas prices, unemployment, and the daunting costs of health insurance.  None of these problems register when you're living in a solid gold bubble like McCain, or however many gold bubbles he's living in.

Digg!

How can McCain relate to middle or lower income working U.S. citizens? To my knowledge he has never had a job. His father was on goverment payroll. He received his education, at no personal cost, from the Naval Acadamy finishing 5th from the bottom of his class. Learned to fly an airplane (I did also in the Army Air Force during WW2) which thousands of military personnel have done. Had an affair with his present millionaire wife while becoming dissatisifed with his first wife who had been disabled in an accident. What credentials, of merit, will make him an understanding President? We have one now of his type. The United States cannot survive another repeat of the past 8 years!

McCain not knowing how many properties he owns will be a non-issue to the Republican owned news media.

Only Olbermann will even talk about it.

I find it very interesting that people who are losing their homes will still vote for McCain simply because he's a Republican.

That's how you can tell how f**ked we are as a nation now. Thanks, Rove. You did a heck of a number on us all.

..."With so many houses and didn't care who knew..."

Maybe he should give a few of them to some of the folks who've been tossed out into the streets because of the criminal activities of many of his friends.

He will put the nails in our economic coffin. Ask the 2 conservatives interviewed on Bill Moyers, The Journal a few months ago. I think the American people are just too stupid, racist, narrow minded and easily manipulated to make a decision that will put a person in office who will not be a Bush clone. What ever one may think about Obama, he is a deep thinker and an intelligent man who cares about people. He is not simply a puppet for special interests. The media manipulated us so that he would end up being the one but if McCain gets in our nation will be done. McCain is a true believer in preemptive strikes and big on military spending. He will keep Chaney as his side kick and he will pack the courts with neo con corporate extremeists who will wipe away justice until you die. He will continue to suck this economy dry and give it all away to private corporations. So you can kiss our economy and democracy good bye if McCain wins.

I live in Phoenix and know where several of McCain's homes are located. He has 2 condos in a New High Rise on Camelback Road, a Ranch in Sedona and the one that he used to own is
now on the market for $12 million. When it was for sale several years ago you could not even view it unless you could prove you had assets enough to purchse it! It is behind a high fence and was once featured in Architectural Digest. He has other homes in California. You can see them all on Google Earth.

Don't think so. Some people who are losing their homes will also vote for McCain simply because he is white.

Having no medical insurance, reduced or lost pension, forclosed homes, children unable to attend college are secodary to skin color.

Thy will vote for what might be in their best interest. No. Nah. Nein. Nul. Nunca. Nej.

I'm sure that Cindy McCain owns all or most of what they have. Did McCain ever really have the price of a house? Maybe a modest one but not like the ones I've seen in pictures. It's probably a source of embarassment for him. But it's best to deal with these things head on. Now he looks just plain stupid. Anna

McC - a future disaster in the making

Obama’s winning the Pres is not a slam-dunk by any means. He has many obstacles to overcome: Hilary, Bill, & the Pumas, Diebold, the Ro-ve machine, small town redneck racists, etc.

McAsinine is keeping the abortion issue up front because it’s one of the only issues in which he can appeal to conservatives. This also takes out of the news his pro-war(s) attitude, his lack of sound economic policies, his anti-environmental stance, his lack of healthcare initiatives, his confusion about names of countries and governments, his spoiled, nasty temper, his unimpressive reputation with the worldwide community, and his overall memory loss ("I’m not sure how many houses we own"). Borrowing from Bush, he has learned to keep his answers short and decisive (with his sickening plastic grin – “my friends”), and he changes his answers daily for the msm to report, mindlessly I should add. McC's leadership would be a disaster for this country's future.

It seems like Americans should realize how harmful a McC Pres would be to the US, but no one has much faith in our voting capabilities after Bush has been in office for 2 terms. Most of the drivel that is being tossed around is unimportant b-sh-t - the VP thing is not nearly as important as the issues that are not being addressed.

Obama needs to step up and take a stronger stand – particularly remembering his progressive base - as people are looking for change, and it would behoove him not to forget what has propelled him to where he is now.

McPAin:
Dropped BOMBS out of the Sky
Believes in a 100 Year WAR!
Roasted 135 on a Aircraft Carrier
Is that normal?
Sounds crazy to me.

RETIRE ALREADY McPain!
Please, crawl back into your Box
And go live in
One of your Mansions.

Old Mr. Lizard Head speaks with a Forked Tongue.
Sleaze straight from Turd Blossom's lips.
Everything is Honky Dory if your RICH?
Funk everyone else!
Tax breaks, Loop Holes and Write offs for Trillionaires!
10’s of Millions of Millions in Debt and
Who gets stuck with the Bill?

Big Pensions, Drugs and Socialized Medicine for McPain, Bush and Dead Eye,
None 4 U.

If it is good enough for them: it is good enough for me and you.

Afraid of a Black Man?

What have these Reptilian Bassturds ever done for you?

Endless War,
Enormous Debt,
Flag draped Coffins, missing limbs, deformities and broken Families and for what?
So they can kill some more children?
Play pin the tail on the Donkey while they run away with BANK.
BAIL OUT!
Sorry been there,
Done that.
Time for a change.
Let's build a better future for us and our children by changing what the direction our Country is going right now.
enough with the WAR already.
Get over it.
Move on.
To a kinder, gentler, helpful, more peaceful place.
Just one of those Trillions that they wasted on WAR would buy us all ENERGY Independence.
Anything is better that this charade.

Either these "Republicans" are trying to destroy what the real Republican Party was about by acting dumb OR these Republicans are really dumb, in fact you couldnt even call them Republicans, their Neo-Cons and it shows just how dangerous and out of touch with reality they really are.

I hope this story grows real legs and gets aired on network news, where the masses of people who barely own one house get their "information." This story points out the very real gulf between those who rule, and most of the electorate. John McCain thinks rich equals $5 million dollars (per year?). His campaign tried to smear Obama by declaring that he'd earned $4 million last year (don't know, but if McCain's camp said it, it's probably inaccurate). Well, that still leaves Obama $1 million short of rich, according to McCain's own words (Saddleback forum last weekend). And I can imagine that the vast majority of Americans would love to try and manage on that 20% difference. McCain -- he's NOT one of us.
