While the corporate press has been busy covering political mud-slinging and Paris Hilton ads, Meet the Bloggers focused on the real issue facing the majority of Americans: the economic crisis.  Not only is the middle class in our country collapsing, but Bushonomics have left us on the verge of stagflation.  Millions of Americans who can no longer afford health insurance, gas for their cars, mortgage payments, and credit card bills are sinking below the poverty line.

As special guest Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) indicated, our country is in the midst of a class war, and both the politicians and the media need to wake up and look at the causes of this crisis, such as the Bush administration's war in Iraq, its no-bid contracts, tax cuts for the wealthy.

Sen. Sanders was joined by show host Cenk Uygur, and bloggers Isaiah Poole (Campaign for America's Future) and Amanda Logan (Center for American Progress) for a must-see debate about ways to get us out of this crisis.  If you missed the episode, you can always watch it in full at http://meetthebloggers.org/

Meet the Bloggers airs live every Friday at 1pm ET, and next week's guest will be will be Michael Moore, the Academy Award-winning creator of SiCKO and Fahrenheit 9/11, and author of the forthcoming Mike's Election Guide 2008. Better get your questions ready!

What Sarah Palin's "Jewish people will be flocking to Israel" prediction really means
Palin's associated with a religious tendency whose leaders promote anti-Jewish conspiracy theory

Hmmm ... Why Do So Many Wingnuts Have Such an Obsessive Fear of Being Raped?
It's all they can talk about in the right-wing media.

Sarah Palin Running for President ... of Facebook?
Ana Marie Cox and Naomi Klein point out that Sarah Palin seems to be campaigning for President. But of what?

"Trickle Down" = "Shit rolls down Hill" Macro economics

Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The middle class started it's journey towards the drain 30 yrs ago.
Being a natural born Michigander...A 7 yr resident of California, then back to MI...This 'long dark train has been coming down the track' for decades.
Michigan Never really pulled out of the downward slide. A mass exodus is what increased employment opportunities, not any stratedgy the Big 3 injected in to the economy.
the Big 3 ignored the oil crisis of the '70's, Ignored the numerous highjackings and ignored our scrreams to get out of the M.E. when the Hostage crisis started.
They did nothing, continued to build 'led sleds' until their market shares dropped significantly enough due to the Japanese kicking their asses.
A Version of theelectric car was available for further deverlopement & refinement- None of the 3 bothered to foresee the national advantage to this innovation. I have no doubt the Oil incs were telling the Big 3 oil was under control (by them & their buddies the Oil 'royals')
Then for a heart beat- they began building smaller more fuel efficent cars. But in a blink of an eye they began kicking out the SUV's ...Hummers, Suburbans, Expeditions-lead sleds.
Let's not forget NAFTA- which just got Michiganders to the chrome of the drain...more parts being made overseas, killing all the states around us with their supporting industries. The Big 3 didn't just lay waste to MI , but the entire Great lake region (Canada too)
Innate (moral) problem with 'shit rolls down hill'economics is that the bottom gets wider, and the top just gets higher.A Pyramid.
Unfortunately humanity (stewardship) requires this is in exact opposition to what is a better model- Inverted pyramid. And basic needs the '0'point standard. That's the least a Gov't can provide for it's citizens-otherwise it is useless.
Free market, even Capitolism is great FOR HUMANS, but becomes a beast when Corp (Inanimate entities)are given those Priviledges.
We need to immediately begin De Privatizing at least our basic needs. End Private ownership and independent contracts from Defense, Energy (natural resources), Food production, healthcare.Healthy nation starts with a healthy happy work force.
