This sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Well, it's not. We have a unique opportunity right now to send Karl Rove to jail, but only if we take immediate action.

All we have to do is pressure the 40 members of the House Judiciary Committee, make them hold Rove in contempt and send him to jail. We've never had such a direct opportunity to hold Rove accountable. No, this is not enough punishment for his years and years of crimes, but it's a huge start, and will send a very clear message to the entire Bush administration.

We put together this video to explain the issues surrounding Rove's failure to testify before Congress, and why Rove should be held in contempt and sent to jail. Check out Send Karl Rove to Jail, and sign our petition to ensure that the HJC holds Rove in contempt.

Today at 1pm ET / 10am PT, the first episode of Meet the Bloggers will air live, and Karl Rove will be the big topic of discussion with bloggers Marcy Wheeler, Liliana Segura, Baratunde Thurston, and special guest Arianna Huffington. The video will be featured on the show, sign the petition, forward it to friends (don't forget to Digg it), and go to meetthebloggers.org to send in your own thoughts, and join the discussion at 1pm ET.

If you can't watch live, you can always see what was discussed on the show anytime you want at meetthebloggers.org.

...but our Congresscritters little dog and pony show doesn't do much to accomplish justice.

The difference between an allegation and a conviction are profound. See your dictionary.

It doesn't help (much) for you to be saying that "holding Rove in contempt (of Congress)" will allow you to put him in jail.

Standard contempt of Congress must go through the AG's office to be served, which isn't going to happen for Rove any more than it has for Miers or Bolten.

In order for Congress to "thrown Rove in jail" they would need to use inherent contempt.

Over time, I have come to understand that Karl Rove puts the welfare of the economic conservatives in the Republican party above the welfare of the nation. He is the little fat kid who did whatever the big bully wanted, and is still doing it. After Bush leaves office, he will disappear and hope that no one ever finds him.

by congress (note use of lower case to convey disrespect), helps explain why these "representatives" are rated lower than Bush and whale dung.

A Clear Case of Contempt and the Role of Congress

Mr. Rove believes he is above the law and he certainly HAS contempt for Congress, so it is only right that Congress HOLD him in contempt.

It is time for the legislative branch to show that it is worthy of the respect of the administrative branch and that individual citizens, no matter their powerful friends, cannot be allowed to ignore their government.

Letting Mr. Rove thumb his nose at Congress without consequence sets a terrible precident for our political system. Congress has an obligation not just to themselves but to the citizens of this great nation and to the future of our democracy to act decisively and send a clear message to the current occupants of the White House that further contempt will not be tolerated.

I call upon Congress to place Mr. Rove under arrest and escort him to the House chamber to testify, under oath, about his involvement in outing an American undercover operative, about the firing of federal prosecutors, and about anything else that our Congress deems worthy of discussion.
