Immigration arrests from work-site raids have increased tenfold in the last five years. As politicians on both sides of the aisle grapple with the issue, families are caught in the middle.

American News Project went to Annapolis, MD to see how people were coping in the aftermath of the state's largest immigration roundup in years.

Where's the Mexican government on this?

I don't know this to be true, but I get the sense that the Mexican government encourages their citizens to come here illegally. They may even be lying to them and telling them that nothing will happen if they do. I realize the economy is not good down there, but do these folks really know what the risks are before they make their move northward?

I don't like to hear about families being broken up, but this gal apparently married a man who was not here legally and she should realize that doing so is putting her and her new family at risk.

If I were to concoct a new immigration policy it would begin with some serious dialog with the Mexican government. We do owe the Mexican people a debt of gratitude for past support, but we shouldn't have to compromise our immigration laws to pay that debt.
